My grandma had a fall on January 23rd and had surgery at Corona Regional Hospital. We had the…read moreoption to bring her home when she got discharged or send her to a rehab clinic for about 2 weeks. So we decided to get a tour at this place to see if it fit what we were looking for. Initially, looking at the bad reviews we didn't want to bring her here but after the tour we decided to give it a chance. She was here for less than a week before we removed her from this facility. Before I get into it, let it be known that we had family visiting her on rotation during all visiting hours, sometimes even staying past visiting hours. To start off she was placed with a roommate who was not mentally stable and should not have been left unsupervised. Her roommate would stand behind my grandma's bed throughout the night, would sit down and stare at her, and would fall and drop things and my grandma is defenseless and couldn't do anything about it. She was in that room for about 4 days before we requested a room change so my grandma could feel more comfortable. To add on to that, it had been two weeks since my grandma had gotten bathed due to getting surgery. Once we arrived at the facility, they told us that they would bathe her within the first 2 days, however she ended up receiving a bath 5 days after she got there. Her surgeon had also told us that she was going to be receiving physical therapy everyday as this is a rehab clinic. She only received physical therapy 2 times in total during her 7 day stay. To continue, she was provided with a button that she could press if she needed help with anything such as medicine, pain, diaper changes or just sitting up on the bed. 90% of the time when we called for help whether it was because she was in severe pain or just to help us sit her up to eat, they would take about 30-40 minutes to respond. My grandma initially had a pressure ulcer that developed in the hospital however it was under control with ointments, and during her stay at this facility, it was only taken care of 1 time, causing it to turn dark purple. (see pictures attached) Then, she was scheduled by her surgeon to see him at 10:15 in the morning at his clinic, and when we got there we were notified that this facility had called and cancelled her appointment. This was very disappointing because we took time off work and were really looking forward to speaking to the surgeon about her progress. Last but not least, when we decided to remove her from this facility due to lack of professionalism and empathy, one of the CNAs made a comment that really stuck with us, she said "she'd be better taken care of at home". Keep in mind throughout this entire stay, my grandma was never left alone, and despite our presence, mistreatment still occurred. So if you're thinking about housing your loved one here, and you're not planning on visiting very often, please be aware of these issues before considering taking them here.

The physical therapy is good. The atmosphere is friendly. The activities are interesting.read more

DO NOT TRUST THIS FACILITY WITH YOUR LOVED ONE. If your…read moreloved one needs professional medical care after a hospital stay, please think very carefully before choosing this facility. While the building looks nice and the rooms are private, that is where the positives end. In our experience, the medical oversight was deeply concerning. The physician refused to adjust treatment plans despite clear and ongoing signs of decline. Even as our loved one showed both objective and obvious symptoms worsening over time, no meaningful changes were made. There appeared to be a lack of proper assessments, and when serious issues were identified -- primarily because family members insisted on testing -- there was little urgency or corrective action. Staff did not consistently follow orders and did not seem to recognize signs of medical decline. Concerns raised by family were often minimized. For three days we requested that our loved one be transferred to the ER due to significant changes in mental status and severe migraine symptoms. The physician refused. When EMS was finally called, emergency personnel immediately recognized the seriousness of her condition. We had to sign a waiver to transfer her to a hospital 20 minutes away because she was considered unstable -- yet staff at the facility continued to say she was "fine." Within days of transfer, her condition deteriorated to the point where she could not speak or swallow and became nearly unresponsive. We were preparing funeral arrangements. She later described experiencing severe hallucinations and believing she was in hell. It was profoundly traumatic for her and our entire family. We also discovered she was not receiving the correct dosage of a critical medication that had been ordered by her previous facility. This likely contributed significantly to her decline. Had we left her there even one more day, we firmly believe she would not have survived. Our loved one had none of these issues prior to admission to this facility, and since receiving proper hospital care and being restored to her previous treatment plan, these issues have resolved. We will be filing formal complaints with the appropriate medical and licensing boards. In our opinion, this facility is not equipped to safely manage medically complex post-acute patients. If your loved one only needs stable rehabilitation, it may be adequate. But if they require close medical monitoring, I strongly urge you to consider other options. Our family went through an avoidable nightmare. Please advocate aggressively for your loved ones.

Stop allowing students and employees to park in your parking lot in all of the front spots,…read moreincluding handicap spots & not using a handicap placard (after coming here for a while, you start to learn who's car is who's). When we come to visit my family member, I'm often unable to find any parking, including any handicap spots (I have a placard, and the cars in these spots never have one displayed). I see employees and students lingering in their cars in the parking lots. They should be in the overflow lot across the street. Today I was unable to visit my family member, because the parking lot was completely full of students and employees. To add: the receptionist is often not present, and technically anyone can make their way into this place & go anywhere they want, making it seem unsafe for our elderly family members who reside here. Do better

She came in after a fall, hip surgery, and a serious MRSA infection, and the staff went above and beyond in every area of her recovery. They cared for her incontinence with dignity, closely managed her diabetes, and provided her with the exact medications she needed to clear up her MRSA. The physical therapy team was incredible. When my grandma first arrived, she couldn't walk at all. With their consistent support, encouragement, and expert care, they got her back on her feet--literally. Today, she is walking again, something we weren't sure would even be possible. A very special thank you goes to Lexi in Social Services. She has been the best case manager I have ever encountered. Lexi went above and beyond in every way--always on top of everything my grandma needed, attentive to her wants, and proactive about her care. She made sure nothing slipped through the cracks and gave us so much peace of mind during such a difficult time. If you are looking for a facility that combines excellent medical care with genuine compassion, Arlington's Gardens Care Center is absolutely the right choice. And if you have the chance to work with Lexi, consider yourself very fortunate--she is truly exceptional!
