In addition I've had limited ROM of my left shoulder associated with an older rotator cuff injury. My Orthopedic Surgeon wrote a script for simultaneous p/t of both ailments, which was, least to say - a challenge. Once at ATHLETICO, Master Physical Therapist Mary Grassano evaluated my condition, designed a comprehensive work out routine, and guided me through a 6 weeks journey to recovery. Her knowledge, expertise & persistence helped with the discipline of working through soreness & aches towards rehab. My back is much better now than it has ever been in years, and I'm capable of lifting my left arm ( with a weight ) across my chest & above the shoulder level with no pain. As an ex athlete ( retired water polo player ) and physically active person diagnosed with arthritis long time ago, I strongly recommend Ms. Grassano for anyone serious about there rehab & recovery. The entire staff of ATHLETICO was pleasant, helpful, and cheering me along the way, bringing fresh towels & having fresh cold water readily available ! Kudos for a 100 % great job & BIG thanks for getting me back on track !!! Coach Lale Nenadovic PS - Ms. Grassano is also a certified cupping tech. specialist, which greatly contributed to my successful recuperation !

Dr. Pommerehn treated me and I highly recommend him for your conditions. As a result of his care, I have avoided surgery and I am back in the gym with little to no discomfort and improving. I am grateful that I came across this practice and I encourage anyone to seek treatment and preventative care. Thanks Chicago InHealth Team!

I have had some medical issues that I have not been able to resolve for the past few years. Having tried Western medicine and holistic methods, I decided to try out acupuncture. I was not sure where to find a good acupuncturist (other than Chinatown). I really wanted someone I could communicate my problems to and who could communicate with me so that I could understand everything. Dr. Zhao was the answer to my problems. She speaks English and some Mandarin! I had told Dr. Zhao that it was my first time to acupuncture and told her my problems. She explained everything thoroughly to me and put me at ease by answering all my questions without any judgment. She was very soft spoken, calm, and friendly. During the procedure, I was worried about pain with the needles, but I barely felt a thing! It was very relaxing! Dr. Zhao was able to pinpoint all the tender areas on my body (that I did not even know were tender to the touch)! She is that good! Dr. Zhao was able to relate my tender areas to my medical problem. There are many rooms at this center, and everything looked very clean. While I was resting w/the needles in me, Dr. Zhao put on a heater to warm me up and also some spa music to relax me. I was so relaxed I almost fell asleep! Chicago Whole Health Center accepts insurance. Before I made my appointment, I spoke with the other doctor, Dr. Graham Pommerehn, who called my insurance (Blue Cross Blue Shield) for me to see if acupuncture was covered under my insurance plan. He called me back to let me know what my insurance allowed under my plan. Super nice!!! The only thing I needed to pay was a co-payment. Awesome! Best of all, they are open late until 7pm! The building is very large so you can't miss it. There is plenty of street parking in the area for $1.75/hr.

I had rotator cuff surgery 6 months prior and wasn't quite comfortable with my current progress, or lack there of. The owner, Dahlia, took a look at my shoulder, did about 10mins worth of massaging and joint mobility movements and I immediately had a significant amount of range of motion than I started with. After leaving I called the location closest to my home and made an appointment. Dahlia had already called the location to give them the heads up that I would be calling and to inform them of what she felt I specifically needed to improve my recovery. Since my first appointment with Dan I have seen a tremendous amount of improvement in such a short amount of time. I can tell Dan cares about my recovery as much as I do. He takes the time to listen and figure out what it is that might be causing any issues or concerns I might be having. I am truly confident in his knowledge and ability to get my shoulder back to where it needs to be! Additionally, the rest of the staff have been nothing but pleasant and engaged in ensuring the exercises I do are being done correctly. Overall, I would highly recommend this place for any and all your physical therapy needs!

How do I spell relief? Salvation? Hope? UnSoo!!!!!…read more UnSoo Kim, M.Ac., L.Ac., will now and forever by my acupuncture and physical therapy goddess. Four years ago I had a C-section, pulmonary embolism, two herniated discs, and a kidney stone in the space of four months. I was hospitalized three times. All the while pumping breast milk and managing to successfully produce enough for my infant son. I slept in a lounger chair for six months before moving back to my bed on a wedge that I never moved from. For almost the next three years I dealt with my primary doctors increasing amounts of strong narcotics (Oxycontin) and anti-epileptic drugs as a means to control my pain. After seeing a pain specialist, I began to get injections directly into my spine to deal with the ongoing pain I had in my lower back. And, none of it really worked or fixed the problem. This is where UnSoo comes in. After just a few treatments, my back is beginning to feel better. I am doing the physical therapy exercises she has given me to do. I am more than happy to shell out from my pocket to pay this woman for her unique expertise in both acupuncture and physical therapy, in which she is licensed. Additionally, she was a yoga teacher for many years. She knows her stuff and she knows the body. She has got a plan to get me back into working order in about four months, and I believe she will be able to do it and to help me do it. I'll be honest, the office is cramped and overfull, and has nothing like a spa feeling. However, I still won't take away a star. If you too suffer from lower back pain, I would recommend her in a heart beat.

For that reason, I've gotten massages off and on for the past eight years when necessary. I generally like deep tissue, or a hard forceful massage, because that gets the muscles to heal the best for me. Devra is very knowledgeable about the body, knows how to work out injuries, and is friendly and nice too. I have been seeing her for about six months, and I would recommend her to anyone without hesitation. Oh yeah, there are great rates for students too!
