As someone who lives in Austin but grew up in the Valley, I was shocked to find a place like tucked in the corner of a strip mall on 10th Street. The hip and cool decor and ambiance immediately hit you when you walk in. I sat at the bar and their terrific staff was attentive and friendly. I explained my taste in drinks and was served a great "off the menu" beverage that definitely hit the spot. When it came time for food, they offer some of the most unique offerings in the Valley. Per my friend's recommendation, I went with the burger and subbed for the beet fries. I could literally devour a giant plate of just those beets, as they were the best I've had, especially with the flavorful aioli. The burger was nothing short of great either, cooked perfectly and juicy with a nice salty, smoky kick of bacon. This is definitely one of the best dining experiences I've had in south Texas, and I look forward to checking out more of their menu. read more

As soon as you as walk in, you see that they have a very nice outdoor patio someone could possibly host a private party at. Love the ambiance of it, felt as if I was at a restaurant in Austin or bigger city vibe. Very friendly staff including our waitress Ashley that had a great knowledge of exactly what the ingredients of our choices of food were, where they bought it from, and had such a laid back cool vibe to her. I almost asked her to sit down to have a drink with us! Ha. Most of their food is locally purchased, fresh ingredients, and even some beer is purchased from a brewery that's in town! The food was great, so many flavors I had never tasted and I'm glad I did. For the price, I am not complaining at all. This place was great! Came on a Saturday for brunch and we loved it!! Their pork belly divorciado and chilaquiles were hefty. I'd definitely order their chilaquiles again..there are pieces of steak all throughout and they were so tender! We ordered an off-menu drink, could not remember the name as the waitress recommended it to us. It has cold brew with a vanilla liquor of some kind, so delicious!! Perfect drink for our dishes. I was trying to find a very chill place to eat with my friends. We were visiting from Dallas. So we decided to do Sunday brunch. The place is very cute & simple but however the food was delicious!! I got the grilled cheese with truffle fries which it was good, my friends they order chicken & waffle, French toast, & the chilaquiles. All of them 3 love their food. While visiting McAllen Texas I checked Yelp for a recommendation. Yelp did not let me down. My first 5 star review. I am lucky to have had the privilege to eat in many wonderful eateries and I am a retired restaurant owner so it is hard to WOW me, but Bodega really IS A WOW. Hubby and I started with a local craft 5x5 beer and a guacamole trio. 3 healing mounds of homemade guacamole with pickled cauliflower, spicy chicken and chipotle blue cheese. Excellent. Followed by a crisp green salad of arugula frisée cubes and green apple w lime dressing. NY Strip Demi glacé and chimichurri . Frites and balsamic Brussels sprouts Perfect. I ordered steak, my friend ordered meatloaf and I thought he was crazy, the steak was fantastic but the meatloaf blew me away. Makes me embarrassed to make it myself. Drinks and atmosphere were good. The wait staff was attentive. However, the food is nothing special. I ordered the French Toast- it is not $14 French Toast, nothing special/unique about it. Down one star Majority of my close high school friends are home for the holidays, so we decided to go out for some food and drinks. I told them about my experience at Bodega (great atmosphere, great food, excellent service, great cocktail drinks) so everyone was eager to try Bodega but most importantly I told them how we have to support local restaurants in the Valley instead of going to a franchise restaurant. Service was great at the beginning, I asked the bartender about the competition local restaurants had on best cocktail drink. Surprisingly Jorge, the bartender who won with another restaurant now works here, so that's a huge plus!! Jorge was not working tonight but the bartender was willing to call him and ask how to make the drink who took first place. Of course I didn't want to cause so much trouble so just ordered the gold rush which I absolutely love even though my friends didn't lol Initially we were 6 people in the table but two more were on their way. When the couple next to us left we moved the table that sits two people close to your table and the waiter said that was fine, he even helped us move it. Well two minutes later, the manager (who was our waiter at our yelp event,very polite gal) came up to us and moved the table away from us. She said she had to use it for another party. We asked if they plead a reservation because we had been there for 40 minutes waiting for the table to be available. Supposedly the family reserved an hour ago so she literally moved the table to the other side of the restaurant by booth area and told us she would get some tables together and move us from the booth. We were all shocked and I felt embarrassed because the manager made us feel uncomfortable in front of everyone. Needless to say it was a full house tonight. We told the waiter if he can just move one do the other side tables to our area and he said it was fine. What's more weird about it is that all tables are the same, so it would have been more convenient if she would've moved an empty table for the party instead of our table. It just didn't make sense! Throughout dinner we ordered 4 different appetizers grilled cheese, coliflor, Brussels and of course my ULTIMATE FAVORITE Gulf Oysters!!! Then we had the Bodega burgers (medium well) it hit the spot, some pasta, and steak. Food was delicious!! When it was time for dessert I recommended the milk and cookies which is the chef's favorite!! Well we ordered 2 so 6 cookies and 3 glasses of milk! One set of cookies were warm but the other 3 were hard and cold!! I had to return them and ask to get them warm. (I don't like returning my food) waiter should always make sure everything is food before taking them out. Please read my first review for an in depth look at our first Bodega experience. This is a short update to commend them on their level of quality and service. My wife and I have been doing a low carb diet, quite successfully, which really limits what you can eat out. We had an evening free to go out just the two of us and wanted to have a nice meal that wouldn't ruin the diet, but would be more than a salad. So we thought of Bodega. We called in and the server talked to us about options to eat low carb on the menu, which convinced us to give it a try. Upon arriving the owner came over already knowing that we were looking for special accommodations. He was so helpful at recommending and adjusting the menu. We were mind blown at how we could have such an amazing and delicious meal without killing the diet! They have several excellent vegetable offerings. The Cauliflower was the overwhelming winner! Absolutely amazing dish! We had the oysters, awesome. The Brussels sprouts, great. And the double pork chop, huge and perfect (you can easily share this). I want to say that the pork chop was one of the best I've had in this country, super fresh and delicious. I told my wife that it tasted more like pork than anywhere else. Amazing experience. The food was so good we felt like we were cheating on the diet, but we didn't at all. Come on in and let Adam and his team fix you up with a great meal! read more

I went to Bodega yesterday as part of a large group. We had terrible service from our waiter and our friends at a separate table had very rude service from their waitress. When one of them complained about not liking their cocktail ($14) they were told "not to expect it to taste like the ones at Olive Garden" because they're original recipes. At my table, none of us liked the overpriced cocktails (pricey does NOT equal good), and my table mate waited over 30 min for her drink, and was told "they're handcrafted so they take a while." Her drink never arrived! After 45 min. she just cancelled the order. The drinks and food that did arrive took a long time. My cocktail looked and tasted terrible--no garnish and no taste of the St. Germain or honey promised in the description. Fish tacos were good, the calamari was almost burnt, and the deviled eggs and pizza were just ok. Avoid this place unless you want terrible service and condescending treatment from staff. This dinner was meant to be a celebration, but Bodega did its best to take the fun out of it. I do not recommend this place. (Note--the restaurant will only split a bill six ways and adds a 20% gratuity automatically to large groups.) read more

It's one of the better places to eat in the valley but it's just alright.... service is so so depending on your server. Definitely painfully average to maybe slightly above. The food is good....If you don't order the burgers. The burgers are good but just order them like super well done because 3/4 times I've gone I got medium rare no matter what I asked for so yea. Drinks are great though. Like that's a big saving grace for this place. Again, not a bad place depending on what you get. The food here is great! We came for brunch, I had the chilaquiles while the other person in my party had fish tacos. The chilaquiles were the hands down winner at our table. Spicy sauce, crunchy tortilla strips, and perfectly cooked eggs--it was a delight. The lightly fried fish tacos were good, but served with fries which seemed strange? THIS PLACE IS. AMAZING!!!! Honestly I travel for work and it was the best meal I had in a long time. AND THE DRINKS SO GOOD! I got the boar meatloaf, $23 and it was worth every penny. I substituted carrots for EXTRA wild mushrooms and it came with Gouda mashed potatoes that were perfect the meal came together amazing. We shared the fish tacos for an appetizer that were also really great with the drinks. A little on the expensive side for your average Joe but in my eyes worth every penny. Half off wine on Tuesdays which we took advantage of. Also, our waitress Natalia was the most pleasant and easy to talk to without being overbearing. Best service. LOVE! read more
