I had a New Years Eve reservation here, and thought I would check out the scene prior to...what a disappointment! There was a decent crowd, nothing like what you see in their marketing on IG, not even close. I'm waiting at the bar for a few minutes, even though the bar wasn't very busy. Not that big of a deal...I'm a pretty patient person. The bartender finally greets me, with "the nod"! Look, if I'm at the bar in a busy club....patrons are 3-4 deep, and the bartender "nods" at me...I completely get it. I've owned a half dozen restaurants in my life, if I EVER saw a staff member greeting a client with anything but a warm hello....good evening..etc, I would fire them on the spot. Even if it meant having to jump behind the bar myself for the evening. I request a wine list, she walks away and returns with an all in one, cocktail, food, and wine list. Still no smile or words spoken. She returns a few minutes later, and I explain that I have reservations for NY's eve and was looking to purchase a bottle of champagne for the evening, do that not sell champagne by the bottle? She walks away, without saying a word, so at this point, I have no idea what the answer is. She finally returns with the bottle service menu...again, no smile, no "here you go Sir"....nothing. Needless to say, I left, and canceled my reservation on the way out the door. I will end on this note. I frequent your Ambra and Mikhuna properties and the service is impeccable, although the cost is a little high, for the quality of food you actually receive, I go for the ambiance as opposed to the quality of the food. I figure it's worth the trade off. But seriously, I paid $250 for a bottle of Veuve Clicquot, yellow label in one of the hottest clubs in Miami a couple weeks ago. In Miami, a 600% mark-up is acceptable...it is, after all, Miami. But a cocktail lounge, in a strip mall, in McAllen? Best of luck to you with your new endeavor. read more
