What a beautiful restaurant! We were craving brunch nearby and this place delivered! They have an amazing selection of brunch items (pancakes, egg dishes and other dishes with more of a lunch flare). I got the 3 open faced sandwich dish. One came with smoked salmon and a salad on top, another with prosciutto and a third with bacon and avocado. All three were spectacular! Before I describe the service I received I would like to say that the food itself was very good, it certainly matched the price point. The drinks were equally as good,and very well crafted. My issue was wit the service, which was disjointed and awkward. When the waitress first approached our table to take drink orders, she walked away in the middle of the order, then returned a minute later with zero explanation. Weird, but not an issue I know restaurants are chaotic environments. The appetizers were great, we got the ribs and it came with a really good sauce so I was excited for my steak. Me and my guest ordered the same thing. When the entree came the waitress explained that she had only put an order in for one entree instead of two. By her logic she thought it was acceptable to have the one entree come to the table and to have me and my guest cut the steak in half and share the steak and the side salad off one dish. Then when the second entree came out, she expected us to do the same thing... again. I understand mistakes happen, I wasn't trying to be difficult. However, at the price point of the entrees, I would have hoped they would have come up with a better resolution to the problem rather than have me saw my filet mignon in half to share with my guest who was provided a tiny dish for me to serve her on. Then repeat that same process when the second entree arrived. It would have been a nice touch to offer a complimentary glass of wine for the mix up, or something along those lines. We were offered nothing except a brief apology. Thankfully this was not a date or business meeting as I would have been very embarrassed. It was just me and friend who laughed off the whole thing, paid full price and left. read more

Love love love this restaurant! Hands down the best sangria I have ever had. Visiting a friend and we stopped in for a glass of sangria and a snack in a hot day. The staff was great and was happy to give recommendations. I had empanadas and sangria. The sangria is made with their in-house made rum. We left happy and with full bellies, only to return a few hours later for dinner and more sangria. This time I had the carpaccio and more sangria. The late night staff was fantastic and at one point one of the waiters even sat with us and joined our conversation for a bit. Came here for empanadas on a whim on a Saturday night. Very little wait time. I'd recently been to this restaurant's counter part a couple buildings up the street, Tango Sur, and had a craving for their incredible empanadas. They were just as good here as they were at Tango Sur. I've now had the beef, sweet beef, and the chicken. All incredible. I'd imagine every other filling is just as good. This place isn't BYOB like Tango Sur, so don't try and bring a bottle. There's a $20 corkage fee, which the couple sitting next to us rudely yelled at our server for. I felt pretty bad for him because these people were THE WORST. But just know, they have a great wine list at Bodega Sur, which is reasonably priced. Cheapest is about $25, if you're like me and tend to shade towards the more cost conscious options. Overall, this place is great and I look forward to many more meals here. read more

The first few times I ate here 3 years ago, I enjoyed it but then it seems to have gone down hill. The last two times here were disappointing. I bought their Picanha steak dinner and it was so grissly I couldn't believe it. I threw away about half of it. 20 bucks down the drain. A year later, I thought I'd give it another chance and I tried the chicken pasta. The pasta was rubbery and disgusting. Also, for 23 dollars, it's very uninventive. It's literally just red sauce and pasta and chunks of bad chicken. Southport is forever changing so I was pleased to find this great new brunch place, with no wait! We were there from 10:30-12:30 on a Sunday morning and it never got more than 70% full. Thanks to fellow Yelp food photographers we got the Lomito sandwich ($14). This sandwich really puts the tender in tenderloin, but I could have used a bit more flavor. Maybe a chimichurri mayo! The chicaquilles ($16 with steak) were just ok for me, maybe because I ate them second and the chips were no longer crisp, again lacking a flavor. They have some craft cocktails and a pretty nice canned beer list. Overall a really relaxing brunch spot a bit north of the competitive Southport main strip. It was nice to not have to fight for a table. I'll be back for the chicken and waffle, that of course I only saw in person after I'd finished stuffing my face, yum! read more

We had tickets for a Christmas Show matinee at the Music Box Theatre a few doors down, so we decided to come here for brunch first. Great choice! Their brunch/lunch menu is filled with unique items, and the creative chef manages to make even the more mundane choices interesting. The chicken & waffle, topped with thick-cut bacon and including a side of hash browns, was heaven on a plate. Their burger could compete with some of Chicago's finest. I used to love this place but enough is enough. I have made excuse after excuse after excuse for crappy service and food that simply isn't worth the excessive wait times for drinks, food, etc. without any acknowledgment. We have stopped taking friends and family here because the service is simply so hit or miss, now typically favoring the "miss" side. When the restaurant is 30% full it shouldn't take an hour to get food out. The waiter/waitress should update you on when you'll get it and, importantly, apologize. No matter if it's brunch or dinner this place has disappointed us too many times for me to recommend it anymore, and it kills me to say this about a family-owned and run spot, but they have had SO much time to pull their act together and seem unwilling to do so. I hope they can turn their service woes around and get people back. I'm giving it 3 stars based on the food and wine selection, and 1 star on the service. read more
