Truly exceptional. But this is not merely a restaurant--it is a mythological opera, enacted in the…read moreform of a tasting menu. The story begins not with a dish, but with a timeline you can eat, charting the ascent of three siblings from humble familial duty to culinary transcendence. You do not "dine" here. You witness a narrative of obsession, transformation, and fate--the kind that only arises when blood ties are mixed with butter, fire, and an unbearable drive for excellence. The youngest of the three, a pastry chef, emerges like a trickster figure from folklore, sweetening the end of the journey with a sense of mischief and melancholy. His takeover of the narrative is not declared; it is felt, as a shift in temperature, in tone, in destiny. The food--what can I say? Each course is like a quiet revelation, as if the universe momentarily aligned to allow perfection, then moved on, uncaring. There is no comfort here, only beauty that leaves you slightly devastated. The architecture of the space is austere but luminous, a kind of sacred geometry. The ceramics and silverware are ritualistic tools, not mere vessels. They suggest a world in which aesthetics are a moral responsibility--as if to serve food without beauty would be a sin against nature itself. To eat here is to be reminded that all creation is fleeting, that excellence is a burden, and that even in triumph, there is solitude.

The food is creative and interesting, there wasn't a weak dish but at the same time most of the food is very good but only a few real standouts for me. But we thoroughly enjoyed the meal even after waiting 11 months from booking to experience. The meal begins with generous servings of the house cava, then straight into canapes (about 15 of them, a mini tasting before the real menu ha). The wine pairing was pretty good, also had a bottle for the meal. favorite courses were the tomatoes, eel and figs, eggplant, the duck set, and the air dessert! also highly recommend staying at the roca brothers' hotel (hotel casa cacao)

We were told that the sons of the owners of this restaurant own the 3 Michelin star restaurant just down the street. It's no wonder their kids have cooking chops because the food at Can Roca is as good as home made gourmet food gets. For two people with drinks, our 3 course meal (not counting a poached egg complementary starter) came out to less than 30 euros! We came at the end of the lunch crowd, around 4pm, when they were closing their lunch hours and reopening later for dinner. Despite the odd hour, the restaurant was completely packed but we didn't have to wait long to get a table. The whole place was locals only. Their menu is small and we were told they were already out of quite a few items. We basically told our server to give us whatever they had still available and whatever else she recommended. I can't tell you the names of the dishes but everything was just spectacular. We had these potato croquettes that were so divine, a bit salty from the meat mixed in, but super creamy. Even the potato and peas dish turned out to be really good- simple but satisfying. For the main dishes, we got the ribs with roasted chestnuts, and a stewed beef with mushrooms. The meats were so tender. And then for dessert we got some type of chocolate mousse with cookie crumbles and a coconut cream mousse with pineapple bits. This is the stuff you can expect to get at a fancy restaurant, definitely not at a mom and pop shop. Needless to say, we left very full and will definitely be back next time we are here.

We are completely confused. This restaurant is well-reviewed and the owner has published two…read morecookbooks, so our group of 4 were all shocked to be served what could most accurately be described as hospital food. The starter salad was not fresh and not seasoned. The vegetable of the day was overcooked boiled potatoes and green beans with no seasoning. The soup of the day was as thick as glue, and again, under-seasoned. The fresh hake was deep fried and overcooked. The "steak" was a cheap cut, maybe 3mm thin, and looked like something that would be served at a prison. We sat at the restaurant looking at online photos from positive reviews, wondering if we had shown up on the chef's day off. We do not speak Catalan, but when our waitress came to clear our plates, and saw that we hadn't eaten some items, she made it clear that she understood why. We had a dozen items. The pork cheek was decent. The ice cream was fine. The crema was fine. Nothing else. This was easily the worst meal we had in a MONTH in Catalonia.

Ordered a Sparkling water and no Fanta Limon but they did have Schweppes which wasn't as sweet as the Fanta version. A good variety of Tapas on the menu. We went with the Andalusian Squid (fried) and couldn't pass up the Octopus Galician style. Squid was lightly fried/not greasy-tasty. The Octopus was delicious and ranked at some of the best we've had. We ordered the Squid with onions as it sounded interesting-unfortunately it missed the mark-wasn't what we expected and we didn't enjoy it. We finished with a couple of Cafe con Leches which hit the spot. Just right balance of coffee/milk. Also picked up a Jamon sandwich to go and it was tasty. Service was friendly but as time moved on lost the attentive aspect. Think they were understaffed and were doing their best. Would return for the Octopus.

I was so ecstatic that this was the same restaurant I yelped. I walked in at 7:30 but they don't open until 8. I say that's fine because that gives me 30 minutes to walk around the beautiful city. I come back and am immediately greeted by the friendly staff. They explained that you have to pick your seafood first. Then, they cook it! Fabulous! I over ordered and the waiter let me know. I said that's okay because I'm just tasting everything and taking stuff to go. After you order, you sit down and are greeted with a complimentary champagne. You then are asked to order a beverage. The food comes out pretty fast btw! They do try to pace it. The food is phenomenal!!! $6 for fresh sea urchin?!?! You can't beat that!!!! Oysters were delicious. I had some kind of live shrimp that was kicking before I bought it, razor clams, scallops, and a classic seafood paella! I got pretty full after eating the urchin and shrimp, but had to make stomach space for the rest. I died and went to heaven. The waitress comes out with a dessert tray at the end of your meal. I passed on it, but if I had space I would have. At the end, you pay for your meal even though you order ahead of time. I am already yearning for the day I can come back and I just left an hour ago.

New number 972 606 979/638 151 553 Hours of operation : Lunch 1pm - 4pm Dinner 8pm-11pm Wednesday closed all day Tues open for lunch only. Came by this place since it was close to where I was at that time.. There seems to be so many good seafood restaurants in this town. I've been to different restaurant in Barcelona with similar style. But this place preps the dish different style and full service.. The restaurant was very clean, stylish and friendly staff. You pick the seafood, they weight it front of you and cost to cook the style you want. I ordered 2 fresh oysters. Lady helping us said it was her favorite kind/imported from France. $5 a pop so ordered 2 only . Ordered sea urchin, baby clams cooked with garlic and parsley. Also ordered the lagosta arrossos caldosos style.. I was told it was like paella but more soup style.. Only thing I was not happy with was that they had to split it and make it into 2 order which ended up costing 80 euro. But I was in a splurging mood so I decided to go for it. Also ordered fried calamari. So for starter bread.. Seems all the bread main in Spain is yummy. Ordered beer and water... First came oysters and sea urchin.. Oyster was definitely good.. Nice plump size and fresh. Sea urchin was different than one I'm used to. Smaller size but more sweet and less irony. Fried calamari was also yummy. Nice tender and the breading was just right. Baby clam also fresh clean and full of flavor. Now the main dish.. It came in a bit bowl and it reminded me of gumbo. I was bit disappointed to see that it basically had double amount of all dente rice. So one lagosta split in half double amount of rice for 80 euros. This could have been made one serving for 40 euro but that was not an option. But over all it was good. First time having lagosta (weird looking lobster). I think I would have preferred prepared it grilled. Now to dessert.. Order tiramisu and xuixo de girona (was told Girona dessert). Tiramisu in a little cup.. Omg.. I have to say this was one of the best tiramisu I've ever eaten.. Soooo melt in your mouth, I'm in heaven dessert. The other one looked like fried egg roll sprinkled with sugar. Inside was cream I'm told. That was also yummy.. Nice crispy outside and inside was warm, sweet, and bread pudding texture.. That was also yummy. Over all it was good experience and food was yummy.. I would definitely come back here again.

However, the true standout was the pizza. The thick foccacia like bread was amazing, and the chorizo and mushroom topping was a perfect complement to the crust! I wasn't wild about the patatas bravas with the "mexi-pork." This place did not have a huge drink selection, in terms of wines, but they did have a very nice house white wine that we enjoyed. Though it was closed by the time we arrived, the restaurant also has a little take out window that serves pasta. Service: Friendly, attentive, and extremely helpful. The waiter knew we had been waiting for a while to eat, so he gave us menus 15 minutes before the kitchen re-opened and allowed us to place our orders so they would arrive promptly. Atmosphere: Tucked in a little square in the lovely old streets of Girona, this place is a gem! We very much enjoyed sitting outside and observing people walking past in the fading sunlight. It's not fancy by any means, but it's perfect for casual, outdoor dining. We hope The Unicorner will be there the next time we're in Girona!
