Probably the best BBQ in the UK and a good menu, US travelers may not find it as diverse as they are used to and the services does at times fall well below the standard expected in the US. If you find the staff a little brisk but like the food try the Ealing Broadway sites as they seem friendlier. read more

If you're going here for anything other than the ribs then you need a mental health check, not because the rest of the food is anything but delicious, but because the ribs are absolutely outstanding. i came here on a sunday with a group of friends - it wasn't too busy when we got there around midday, but by the time we were leaving at around 2 (my friends had a lot of ribs to eat!), it was definitely mostly filled up with what looking like hungover claphamites in search of some hangover friendly food stuff. bodeans definitely offers that. i had chicken wings (hot) and a side of fries. so much food i honestly felt like i would never eat again. it was only a half dozen chicken wings, but maaaan, that is still A LOT of food! their wings are really good, i'm a fan. my boyfriend got the game day special for the second day in a row. he is a trooper! i enjoyed a margarita because i was hungover, and it was sunday. the best reason to get a margarita! it was really good, and strong, and it was happy hour prices - all good things. the waiting staff were okay - they were pretty busy, but it wasn't really service with a smile. it could be because two of the guys we were with (my boyfriend's friends, not mine) seem to fancy every girl they see and are like rabid dogs - any smiling might have been taken as a sign of encouragement - and if so, i definitely see why they wouldn't want to do that! i'm nice though, you can smile at me, and i promise i will not pounce on you! read more

This used to be a great place to fill up but ever since its refurbishment its standards and the quantity have slipped. We were taken to three different tables before being allowed to sit down by the Waitress. Turned out the nice table was for her and her visiting family, we were finally stuck at the table next to staff opposite the servery so left stinking (seriously) of kitchen smoke - not great. While looking forlornly at the Waitress enjoying her meal with all the staff running around her. Not my best customer experience, If you're used to great US ribs and barbecue places, without attitude don't come you'll be really disappointed. If however, you're in the area and strategic about your time IE. do beat the clock you'll prob leave happy. read more

Having had a lot of bbq, I think this place is great. Ordered both the pulled pork/ ribs and 1/4 chicken/ pulled pork/ sausage combos and both were fantastic. Portion sizes were big and prices decent, especially the deals. read more

The Clapham branch of Bodean's didn't live up to the experience of the Soho location. Service was slow and sketchy, the food wasn't quite as good (though still tasty). Sauce was heavy handed. They didn't offer A&W. All the being said, it's still a yummy option and I'll probably be back at some point. read more

The fact that my first visit to a Bodean was in the fifth year of my stay in London speaks volumes about my inertia and oversight. But that's past now and I have made my inaugral visit there this month. My friend and I had already had four drinks (or more) each by the time we reached here for dinner. So I apologise in advance for missing any important piece of information. My friend had probably never had ribs earlier and went for a full rack of baby back ribs (why are they called so btw ?). The ribs were simply outstanding. Soft and succulent, the meat was easy to tear from the bone. I provided him with considerable help in order to finish the plate ;) I went for the meatloaf, one of my favourite American dishes. It was well made, and was accompanied by mashed potatoes (which is common) and some sweet corn. This was new for me. I usually avoid sweet dishes with main courses, but I did eat a considerable part of this preparation. Bodean has a small but sufficient wine list. I had a glass of rose wine which was decent. Our dinner set us back by only £16 per person ... so it's quite affordable. I have tried only two of the several dishes that this barbecue chain is known for, but I already have a good feeling about the rest of the items on the menu. Can't wait to try them :) read more

Being American myself and also a HUGE BBQ fan, I was let down my Bodeans. Its not like making decent BBQ requires abnormal ingredients that are not readily available in the UK, but their version of BBQ, is very pedestrian and lackluster. It's not like I went in with high expectations, but I left here a little underwhelmed. The service was good, seating was cozy... good for small groups or a casual date. Overall if you are feinding for the real deal, this wont deliver, but its good hearty food and wont totally empty out your wallet while filling your stomach. read more

Went here just one time with my sister i think, it was great however because the kitchen is quite open to the eating room, which is all benches and tables if i remember correctly, the place filled up with smoke because of a hot meat incident, and we all stank of barbecue. This is not a good smell to have on your hair and pillow. Much better than the Soho Boedean's though. read more

Yum Yum Yum! It's my mission to try every Bodeans in London, and the Clapham one was the firstafter 2 attempts! The first: booked out. The second: renovations. All good reasons so far. The third? Just arriving back in town ater a blissful holiday and gastro-tour of New York City, I was already missing American-style food, and meat barbecure for that matter. Bodeans it was! Friendly staff who were forthcoming with suggestions (a feature of all Bodeans staff I have come across); and fun booths to sit in; we had delicious buffalo wings and chunky o-so-naughty blue cheese dressing. Triple the price and not quite as good as BWs in NYC, but still amazingly glazed, sauced and moreish. I had a Pulled Pork sandwich upon recommendation, and it was pretty good, but a little dry. Needed some extra mayo and bbq sauce. Ribs are yummy too. £10 Sundays rock - Full rack of ribs, sides and beer. Get some help finishing this! *Highlight: meeting Mr Bodean himself. He was speaking to everyoe at the tables the night I was there last. He was especially keen to know what I thought of his BBQ Mayo special recipe. AMAZING! been here loads and love it, staff are always really friendly, the guy somehow managed to get us a booth the other day when the place was absolutely rammed. I always end up going for the pig out for a tenner option as I love the pulled pork but if you come here on a tuesday it's half price steak night and that's when the fun begins, you can get your weeks food in in this one sitting. That's the sort of efficiency even the Germans would be proud of. One of the waiters is increadibly cute too my mate has left his number 3 times for her now but she's yet to call!!! read more

wow, this is what i call filling food. some really good deals and free kids meal with a norrmal price meal (ie not the £10 deal). i love the pulled pork which melts in your mouth and creamed corn. a great night out the ribs are tasty and the waiter bought me a little bowl of the burnt ends to taste (bbq beef) havent found anything i dont like as yet. If you are there in time for the £10 deals i recommend the qtr chicken,ribs and pulled pork meal it is divine, everything u need is on one plate. There mexican pulled pork meal smothered in cheese sauce with rice is very tasty and only £7.95. I havent tried the suasage platter or hot dog as yet. read more

I'd give this 3 and a half stars if I could, but I can't and I'm feeling generous. The problem I think with Bodean's is that it's so hyped, you expect something amazing. And when you get there, it's good, you'd probably go again, but it's not mind blowing. I had the pulled pork sandwich. The pork itself was pretty tasty, although the bread bun it was served on was a little bit cheap and nasty. The coleslaw was good as were the chips. We ordered bottles of Coors, and they were literally ice cold (all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right) and so refreshing. Bodeans would be amazing with a hangover and is pretty decent anyway, and quite reasonably priced. The service is also prompt and polite- the waitress was happy to explain the difference between the sandwich fillings to me. I'd want to try other places rather than rushing back here every weekend, but I wouldn't really have any qualms about returning. read more

Slightly different from other branches of Bodeans. They offer seperate deals and the seating is more intimate as opposed to just benchs with stools. It's always worth checking out the deals on their website before you visit. Kids under 12 can eat for free at certain times and you can pig out for a tenner. read more

American bbq food in a relaxed atmosphere which is great for an evening with friends. But the smoky smell really gets to you and you end up smelling quite intensely of the food you have just eaten. This I due to the open kitchen they have their. The seating is quite intimate, not the usually cowboy style benches they have in most branches. The food is tasty, and I recommend the Buffalo wings which are lip smashingly tasty. This is definitely a meat eater's location with a host of items on the menu. The friendly staff know what they are talking about and always wish you well with a smile. A very relaxed atmosphere with great food! read more

Simple BBQ food so ribs, spicy wings, steaks etc. A bit pricey but to be honest you get good food in big enough quantities to leave you feeling satisfied. You'd be hard pushed to find yourself a better meat feast than that at Bodeans. It's a perfect Sunday hangover cure! The place is decked out like an American diner, filled with high booths and huge screens showing American sports. The staff are uber friendly and go out there way to accommodate your needs. I think it's the most fun to go here with a few people and order loads of stuff to share ribs, pulled pork, BBQ chicken and sides to include mash, beans, corn on the cob, nachos, quesadilla and much more as I said, a real feast! The drinks here are also really nice, they serve American old-school style ginger beer, cream soda and dandelion and burdock. Watch out for the offers as well if you visit early evening you pay the price of the time you order eg 5:35pm and you'll pay £5.35. It's good food and a giggle too! read more

I was so disappointed the last few times i came here. This used to be a great place but has now turned into a "chain" restaurant. The food was cold and dry. The burnt ends which are usually tender, were just tough and fatty. The waitress could tell that we were having a bad time and didn't even bother to ask us if there was anything she could do to help, she just dumped the bill and left. They have also recently gotten rid of their sprits and cocktails from all of their restaurants, bar Soho, in order to bring "parity" to their restaurants, according to the manager. We were not the only ones to complain and judging by the poor attendance on a Sunday, we were not the only ones to be put off by the new higher prices and worse off menu. Typically they have chosen the lowest common denominator to bring parity with. Such a shame - this place used to be great. We won't be going again. read more

Went to Bodean's in Clapham over the weekend and had a great experience. It seems really laid back and fun. The waiting staff were always prompt and polite. I shared a platter with one other person (£22) and it was more than enough for both of us. There was a range of different drinks (some interesting beers) although the cans of soft drink were quite pricey. The sandwiches they sell to take away are a decent price and taste amazing (we went back for lunch a few days later)! If you're thinking of dining there, be prepared to get your fingers sticky (though there are kitchen rolls and hand wipes on each table for that)! They also do a loyalty card which you can sign up for online and it seemed to have some good offers available. Be prepared for the usual rush on weekends and evenings. read more
