Man, we had a 12 hour travel day and this hit the spot! It is decorated so nice in an African Safari theme with a modern twist. It's definitely sophisticated in style and they have the most comfortable seating that we truly appreciated. A lot of the tables have couches to sit at. We have been missing good cocktails as we explored Italy and France. So to get the huge menu with tons of options was perfect. They taste amazing. We had a very fun, satisfying experience today at Bbar. The table had a "Classic Afternoon Tea" and a "Fish and Chips Afternoon Tea". Both were excellent! The staff was pleasant and helpful, even after both my wife and I separately spilled our own water glasses! The ambiance is pleasant and relaxing. They take reservations only when we stop by for lunch. Luckily we were able to snag a reservation online for a last minute booking. Service is nice although they seemed slightly overwhelmed by having several large groups to service. I opted for the cheese sandwich and my partner got a chicken sandwich. Last minute we realized we had gotten a tour time wrong and needed food to be packaged for takeaway and to pay the bill quickly. Our server was so kind in quickly getting this done in spite of the many groups he was managing. I was really grateful for such a tasty hot meal while we were on the run. We came to the Bbar in between touristing all day for lunch. It's a cute, African themed cafe that had plenty of seating available. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger. The presentation was very nice! My burger was cooked rare which I don't love and was nervous to eat. The taste was good, the fries were good, but don't have much flavor. For dessert we tried the brownie and the honeycomb ice cream. The service was a little disorganized and they forgot our appetizer completely. We waited quite a long time for both servings even though there were just 3 tables there. We had a lovely meal tonight at Bbar. The service was perfect, I had a fantastic drink called the Aida. For dinner I had a Caesar Salad with prawns and my husband had a small plate of lemon pasta and a Caesar. Just the right dinner after a long day being a tourist. Had their famous toastie which was excellent and shared a side of chips (cheeky sized) with my daughter who had a small Caesar salad with chicken with was a nice size with grilled chicken tenders and fresh shaved Parmesan cheese and small croutons. Visiting London and was looking for a great casual spot to meet a friend for a few hours. B Bar was perfect! We were seated in a leather booth by the window and service was great! I went with their specialty Salted Beef Sandwich and it was very good! They had great cocktails and the staff was very friendly and accommodating- providing us with great recommendations, checking in regularly, and joking with us. Really good food, and equally interesting drinks! Our party of 6 was seated without any wait on a weekday evening for dinner. We came before going to the theater, so timing was important to us. We had no problems. Service was okay, but not great. Seems spotty, or like the wait staff was outnumbered (though it didn't appear they were). I had the vegetarian bbar burger and I'd order it again. A great find. We were staying next door at Hotel 41 so it was convenient to dine there. We liked it the first day we went so we dined there a second time. Had the African burger made with wild boar and venison. Topped with a quail egg. It looked good and tasted delicious. Wifey had chicken soup that evening. On the second visit I had fish and chips while she had the Parmesan crusted chicken schnitzel. Both were very good. The dark draft beer was worth having. Loved this place! One of the highlights of my trip to London was going here. I didn't know until later that Bbar was associated with the Ruben hotel next-door. B Bar was the best restaurant we had tried in London so far. We ordered their steak, steamed mussels, grilled fish fillet and red wines; we weren't going to eat dinner here at first, but after trying their great red wine and perfectly cooked mussels (decent sizes), we could not resist to order more. The fish fillet was very fresh and tasty, with a touch of lemon juice to bring out the flavor; the steak was super juicy and flavorful, with red, it was heavenly! The manager was kind enough to give us an order of spinach on the house since we didn't order any veggies, it was so creamy and delicious! Of course, finishing up with their ice cream desserts! Customer service was fantastic! They were all very friendly and attentive, just one eye contact, someone came right to us to make sure we needed. Highly recommended! read more

We chose to eat here on our first night of our vacation in London because it was next door to our hotel. Unfortunately for B Bar, it was the only subpar dining experience we had on our trip. The man who greeted us and seated us was very nice as well as our interactions with the other servers. However, our main waitress was just awkwardly cold and really not attentive to the table. The best part of the dinner were the drinks. Both mine and my husbands were flavorful but also with the right kick and beautiful to look at. I ordered the saltbeef sandwich and my husband got a burger. I didn't try my husband's burger but he said it was nothing special. The saltbeef of the sandwich was really good but it needed to be between a different type of bread. The white bread they use isn't strong enough to hold that much meat and the juices weaken the bread even more so the sandwich falls apart fairly easily. It was my first saltbeef sandwich so I don't know if that is the traditional bread used but it didn't work for me regardless. I'd say even though the look of this place is great inside and out, there are better places to grab a bite to eat in London. read more

Visiting London as part of a wedding trip (in Tuscany) that took us to Tuscany, Florence, Paris and London. This is the final leg of our European vacation (cue Chevy Chase and the music). We just left Buckingham Palace paying our respects to the recently coronated King Charles and we stumbled upon this place as a result of needing a bathroom. My wife and son ventured inside and met who we found out later was the GM Ian. A very pleasant gent who directed the wife and son to the bathrooms. She came outside after and said they were hungry and very impressed with Ian and wanted to go in and have lunch. We were seated at a table with oversized leather club chairs in a nice cozy loungey atmosphere. Ian came over and took our order and was as charming as could be telling us we were going to get a proper burger. He was in the money. The chips were great too. 3 options there and then the dessert! Honeycomb ice cream. Can't find that many places but it's here and oh lord is it good! Those big comfy leather club chairs then became my nemesis as we sunk further and further into them. It was nap time after that lunch! Thankfully the wife bought me a little more time ordering a coffee and Ian brought an accompaniment of chocolates for that! This place is a gem and so is Ian. Possibly the most offensive pricing I have seen at a London restaurant. Average white wine priced at £50, seen in restaurants elsewhere for £32 gives you an idea of what you'll find here. The food is at best average... at 30% lower prices. The TV behind the bar adds to the ambiance. The beef is most certainly not African in any way. Across the street there is better value, better cooking, and better drinks. read more

Nice, not quite sure what the theme is, many South African touches but rather sprinkled in with regular pub food, and no South African wine. Nonetheless great food, the bobotie spring rolls, a twist on South African casserole was further twisted with Vietnamese accompaniments, but still a delicious starter. Attentive and attractive staff. Our last night in London, we are looking for a comfy restaurant near our hotel with great food. Bingo! This place was fantastic. Drinks were well mixed, menu was a bit off the beaten path but with interesting standards. Food was excellent from starters to main course to dessert. The decor is upscale safari - a bit kitsch and very inviting. The banquet seating makes you feel like you're in someone's sitting room for drinks. Must try the honeycomb ice cream. Nice decent food here. The service is above and beyond. We loved all the staff, from the manager to the two waitresses that made sure we were well taken care of all the time. They have a nice selection of seasonal cocktails as well as ales. I really enjoyed my Tropic Thunder. Sweet and tart all at the same time. We started our meal by sharing an order of the bobotie. Don't what that this is? Not to worry neither did we. First you need to know that the restaurant is a fusion of food from Britain to South Africa. Popular food in South Africa is "Malay". This is food that is already a fusion of Asian and African. The bobotie is a fried spring roll stuffed with Malay flavored meats and comes a "British" style chutney for dipping. Absolutely amazing appetizer. Forget the calories and order it! We all decided on burgers for dinner. I had the Wagyu - sliced red onion, aged cheddar, avocado and hubby had the African - Wild boar and venison, fried quails egg, nnamon marog and Chakalaka relish. The burgers were a bit disappointing for me as most burgers served in England are for me. The meat was over done and a bit over worked leaving it with a bit of a meatloaf texture which I don't care for. I chose to have my burger with the sweet potato fries which were excellent. My fiancée and I had our engagement drinks at the downstairs bar, and had a fabulous experience. First, the service was top notch. The staff member was very responsive over email and even those serving drinks on the day were phenomenally kind. In the course of the afternoon, we broke a few glasses by accident, but they were very patient with us and never made a deal out of them. Through and through, I valued the excellent service. Whilst we didn't have any food, the selection of drinks was great as well. They had most everything we ever needed. Ambience was solid as well. My husband and I planned a Greek island hopping trip and wanted to plan an extended layover somewhere else in Europe. After searching for flights, we settled on a 16-hour layover in London. We decided not to do any research and to just play it by ear. After arriving at Heathrow, a couple of people directed us to do some touristy things. After seeing the Buckingham Palace, we walked around looking for a decent restaurant. B Bar caught our eye because it seemed to have some nice menu options and it looked very nice inside. First, I'm amazed that it seems like everywhere in Europe offers complimentary wifi, including restaurants and public transportation. The U.S. could really learn a thing or two. Anyway, back to the restaurant. My husband orders the African burger which is venison and wild boar. I took a bite and it was so delicious! I got a regular burger, but I wish I had ordered the African burger because it was so flavorful and tender. Outside of our food and drinks being good, the service was awesome. We obviously had American accents (and mannerisms lol) and we were checked on by the server, bartender, and manager. It wasn't particularly busy, but I still appreciated the attentive service. Came here with a group of 14 friends on Wednesday. It is actually part of the Rubens Hotel on Buckingham Palace Road. There is a large bar area at the front, with a more formal raised area at the rear. Started with a draught pint of Budvar at the bar, before being seated at the table. As there were 14 of us, we had to give our choice of main and desert two days before. We started with a large mixed sharing platter consiting of Beef Biltong, Chiken Livers with piri piri sauce, Bobotie Spring Rolls, Chicken and Dill Skewers and bread. Great selection and plenty for us. For the main I went for the African Burger, which consisted of Wild boar and venison, fried quails egg, cinnamon marog and Chakalaka relish, and a side of fries. If I had known it came on a wooden board, I would have probably asked for a plate, but hey that's just a minor detail. For desert, I went for a Khalua based cream softy drink. It was called a Don Pedro which I now understand is a South African originating cocktail. It was really good, and just right after the two previous heavy courses. For a group of 14, we had a great time. I highly recommend, and would definately go back! On Wednesdays it's s 2 for 1 offer of bottles of Prosecco. read more

Good, quick option pre or post Buckingham Palace visit. Definitely a tourist spot but they absolutely put out a grand effort! I think I read somewhere... Safari chic. Yes, totally. We kept lucking out, getting the window seat at practically every restaurant we dined at. This was a busy corner just across the way from the Palace, so a fab spot to people watch. It was too early in the day for a drink and we were about to head into the Palace abyss, so we just knocked back a couple a Coca-Colas. Need to say however, the cocktails menu looked amazing. I went way outside my comfort zone and tried the wild boar burger, topped with a quail's egg and spinach for £13.00 and had a side of thick-cut chips for £13.60. Man had the Cape Malay chicken curry with poppadoms and fragrant rice for £14.50. As you'll see from the pics I added - breathtaking presentation, however, the food quality was just okay. Not horrible, not great. Just okay. I thought the burger was puffed up to hide what should have provided some really interesting palate checkpoints, but it was pretty bland. Man's curry was pretty standard as well. Most UK restaurants have some sort of curry on the menu, regardless of the cuisine, so definitely had better curry elsewhere. Our meals were very pedestrian with all the bells and whistles to attract hungry eyes. Chips were above good though. I would recommend trying b bar for a drink and starter to share after the Palace tour. Trust me, you'll want to chill out a bit after this tour, particularly after the Crown Jewels queue (yipes). Do screaming babies really have an interest in large, oval-cut diamonds and scepters? Methinks not. Very nice service. Shiny, clean environment. The fish was truly cooked to perfection with delicate baby green beans and grilled corn on the cob. OMG I could eat a second plate just thinking about.
