We took a tour with Yvonne as our guide and driver. She was so knowledgeable about the area. We ended up seeing 10 horses-including a one week old colt!! She was determined for us to see as many horses as possible. Do NOT hesitate to book a tour here!! We loved it!! read more

Our family really enjoyed our tour and glad we did it. Only regret, they don't have an intercom system or way to speak to those on the tour. Our tour guide was friendly and very knowledgeable, but could really only talk to us when he pulled over and got out of his drivers seat. Not sure how it compares on prices or compares to others, but simply wish they had a speaker system. We saw plenty of horses, and the kids enjoyed it. I found the homes and terrain most interesting in the tour. read more

We had a fantastic tour for 13 "older" adults with Jimmy as our guide! He was informative and fun with our group. I highly recommend and they can accommodate 15 people. Also, our seats were all forward fax and we didn't have to turn to see things! We had a blast! read more

We were delayed by a boat closing the road and our driver Gator waited for us as we had driven 5 hours for our tour. Thankfully they have bathroom onsite. And stop mid tour to give another bathroom break. Driving on beach Hwy 12 and seeing these OBX neighborhoods an experience in and of itself as we would never drive ourselves into these areas as we would get stuck and need a tow. Enjoyed our drivers local perspective Horses typically in neighborhoods now as the best grass in peoples lawns due to dune grass dying per our driver. Recommend this company and will go again if company wants a unique OBX experience read more

Our driver buddy (if I remember correctly) was very nice and informative. we have stayed in Corolla many times and have never seen the horses so decided to take a tour through Corova. We saw a lot of horses, including a baby. However, the neatest part of the tour for us was seeing a new part of the outer banks that we have never explored before. The 4x4 beach and the neighborhoods of Corova are so neat! read more

The guide, Kyle Hubbs, was a talented driver and extremely knowledgeable about the herd both historically and the whereabouts of the horses in there current locations. And he's a really good photographer himself and had some great prints for sale after. We got to see horses on the shoreline, which I'm told doesn't happen that often. I really enjoyed my time with my wife and got some great photos myself. read more

Our driver Alex was knowledgeable of the history of the horses. And new the area very well. We got to see foals as well as adults.

Amazing! We probably saw 30+ horses, including many babies (Mid-June in 88° weather). Our driver was Buddy, he was hilarious and informative, plus he took so many good photos of our family with horses in the background. Totally worth the price, it's a 10/10 experience. read more

Great Wild Horse tour!! Gator gave us a very enjoyable Wild Horse tour in Corolla. We were able to see 20-25 Wild Horses during our two hour tour. With all seats facing forward on the truck everyone had great opportunities taking pictures. Everything went very well. Office staff very friendly also. read more

Bob's is one of the original horse tours in Corolla. They pickup behind the SuperWings. It's a 2 hour tour and you usually see horses. Our driver Karen was excellent. She made sure everyone was able to see the horses and get all the photos they wanted and stopped when we spotted a horse. It was a great tour. We use Bob's every time we see the horses. read more

I cannot say enough AMAZING things about our tour with Karen! Not only was she extremely knowledgeable, but we saw nearly 20 horses. She was great at slowing down when needed and providing us with ample time to take photos. We will be back! read more

This was the worse experience we have ever had on OBX. The woman managing office was rude, disrespectful and down right nasty. We went on a windy October day with no prewarning that horses do not like windy days. We were told that about half way through and not given the option of calling it quits after only seeing 2 horses or continue on in very cold and windy conditions. We were given very little information about the horses or their history. When we went with Wild Horse Tours wildhorsetour.com they shared extremely interesting information about the horses. I have no real complaints about the driver, but all in all it was the worse experience ever -- especially the woman in the office. read more

Absolutely amazing! Wendy and Lynn were amazing getting us scheduled and checked in and Al was extraordinary as the tour guide! He told of the background of the horses of the OBX and the history of the area. We were able to see dozens of horses and had a blast!! We will definitely go again!! read more

Our tour started out on a bad note. These trucks seat 15 or 16, four rows of four I think or maybe the last row is 3. Our driver forced us to split our party of 6 in such a way that our 3 year old in a car seat had to sit next to a stranger. Our tour had 5-6 seats empty. In spite of the advertisements that say fun for the whole family, and tell you they can accommodate car seats, I'd not take anyone under 7 on these tours. The ride is just too rough and they should advise against it, not encourage it. The information provided about the horses was ok, but pretty minimal. The driver took photos with a nice camera and appeared to be offering to sell us prints he had made. He made one off-hand comment about helping people who drove the wrong vehicle on the beach for $40 and a case of beer and joked that he used to ask for a date with your wife, but now he is engaged. We had a good tour in terms of horse sightings. Most of our sightings were on the beach and dunes, but a good part of the time were were looking in neighborhoods...not exactly what you expect when buying a "wild horse tour" Knowing that horse sightings are more a function of timing than guide skill, I really couldn't attribute the views to the guide, and that is what the guide tells you if you don't happen to see any horses. They talk too much about what not to do with these horses and not enough about the horses themselves. And they talk abut tips too much. 20 minutes of your tour will be the drive to and from the beach as the office and boarding spot is 10 minutes away. Our guide tailgated some on that drive, and didn't really inspire confidence. On the drive back he was in a hurry and we actually left our seats once because of his speed over the bumpy beach. Avoid the guide with the cowboy hat. read more

Herb was an awesome tour guide and made sure we got the most out of our two hours! It was tons of fun & laughs but we learned a lot about the horses and their history. We'd definitely do it again and ask for Herb! read more

We booked a tour and drove over an hour to get to Corolla, only for them to cancel last minute on us. They blamed mechanical issues, but we also heard they didn't have a full group to take out and were trying to push people to later in the day to get a full load. JV operation has kids answering the phone and lying to customers. I also have to wait 3 days for a refund?! Ridiculous. read more

We had an excellent October tour with Bob's Wild Horse Tours. Online sign-up was simple and the staff was welcoming and kind including to my five year old daughter making sure she was comfortable and could see around all of us grown ups. The tour itself was about two hours long and our guide Bill was funny and full of local information. He knew all the crazy spots to look and we probably saw two dozen wild horses along the beach and in the sand dunes and houses. Being a local himself we got a feel for what it's like living in Corolla and how much the locals love the horses - even when they end up on their decks or blocking the road. He gave us plenty of time for pictures and we had a great day as a family and learned so much about this unique part of OBX. I would definitely recommend Bob's Wild Horse Tours to others. read more

I've been vacationing here for years and never took the tour. We decided to do so this time around and we were mesmerized by all the horses we saw (at least 60 or more). They are stunning! This trip was well worth the price of admission. Tip your driver! Carla, our driver was magnificent and shared the history of the horses and the area. Great 2 hour trip! Take water and your cameras. Respect the habitat. Carla and Bob's Tours did. They got us close enough without disturbing these beautiful animals. I can't wait to come back. Simply beautiful! (Take the first tour at 9:30...a little cooler out and less crowded on the beach) read more

We got a discount for group rate by having 10 people. The list price of $49 per adult was a little high. We had a good driver. We all piled into this industrial truck with seats in the back. Nice cover over the top. Wish they had a wind screen for the tour guests. It gets very windy and sandy on the back of that truck. They ride you down the rt 12 til the sand starts and then set off across the beach. This is a surreal experience if you have not ever done the sand road and beach driving. Then we cut in where the houses are and search for some horses. We got to see some horses along the inner roads. Honestly was a little disappointed because we were hoping to see some horses on the beach. Then it's back to the high speed sand driving. The sand in the wind hurts a little. read more

If you're looking for an amazing family experience, Bob's Wild Horse Tour will NOT disappoint!!! From the moment we climbed aboard their jeep, we were in for an adventure! To start, our driver, Al, was not only a gentleman helping us all into our seats and getting little ones car seats buckled in; but he was and INCREDIBLE driver, a wonderful source of information about rhe horses and the island, and an overall ton of fun! Driving on the beach and up and down the sand dune roads was like a roller coaster ride! I don't think there are a lot of people who could navigate this terraine without getting stuck or toppeling over their vehicle. While the horses were beautiful, having the opportunity to see the private homes out there was equally incredible! Everyone on our jeep was really nice and we all had a great time together! Easily one of my favorite excursions (and we've travelled extensively to Hawaii, Europe, and the Caribbean)!!! read more

This place is located in the Food Lion plaza between Kitty Hawk and Lucky's Pizza. Down the sidewalk. We had a great time on our tour. We did the sunset tour and we spent the majority of our time in the dunes area looking at horses than driving on the beach. We easily saw more than a couple dozen horses. We learned a lot about the area from our driver (who was recently bit by a snake out there recently so be careful) and we saw so much in such a short amount of time. Other tour companies stop at a certain point while this company goes farther down the beach to see more horses according to our guide. If we hadn't gone further in we wouldn't have seen half the horses we saw. Completely worth it. read more

Will say it was an eye-opening experience to see so many beach homes further up the coastline toward VA. We saw wild ponies dotted here and there, mainly in the deep sand roads or munching on residents yards. The weather wasn't that conducive, thus the horses probably felt more protected within the bushy trees vs the open beaches. The open-air vehicle needed some simple improvements to give a more comfortable ride over those ever so bumpy spots in the sand; along with more info about the ponies. Our goal was to see the wild ponies and we did. read more

The tour guide was phenomenal! He had a super sense of humor and was very knowledgeable about the history of the area. His name was Kyle!

This is a tough rating for me. My friends and I tried Bob's on our second trip to OBX. The staff and our driver were delightful to deal with! We got to see many of the horses and take a pretty long drive along the beach which is pretty cool. My only problem was that our driver would have to stop and pull over to explain anything. There is another wild horse tour that has a speaker system in their trucks so the driver can talk to you at any time and explain something about the horses or the environment you were in. And they have affiliation with the wild horse foundation so they can go deeper into the areas where the horses might be hiding. When looking for a wild horse tour, to me, that is one of the top perks of the trip. If they would've had a speaker system in their vehicle they would've gotten five stars! read more

We loved every minute of this tour! The kids found it amazing to sit high over the truck in the open air screaming with joy. The bumping off roading on the beach was unheard of. The best part was driving through the dunes looking for the horses and finding them! It was super cute seeing the new baby and all his friends. I would recommend this trip to anyone as a must do! read more

This is the tour to take. Why? The friendliest staff that truly appreciates your business. Our guide Jeff was more than accommodating. His knowledge of the horses, the area and attention to detail will make your tour a memorable one. There are other tour groups but the vehicle Bob's use is perfect. You are up high (above the others), you have full view in any direction (not looking at the people across from you), padded seats and it has a covered canopy to keep you out of the sun ;-) read more

Would have been a five out five had there been a speaker system for the driver to talk to us... Maybe even walkie talkies would have worked! The point of tour is get education and driver having to stop twice to talk to us or lean out the window did not work for us. It rained, we got wet, we saw horses, we made up stories about them (because driver couldn't), we got to ride in the dunes, we saw amazing houses! Driver was nice (forgot her name) and no complaints for her! It was worth it but next time will go with a tour guide that has a speaker system or someone in the back with us to tell us stories and educate us! read more

Here's what you are signing up for: you pack into the back of a truck and drive 20 mins on the beach until you drive off the beach and into a neighborhood with lots of houses. Then you drive around the neighborhood looking for horses in people's yards. There is nothing "wild" about this. It would be like taking a "wild deer" tour in a suburban neighborhood where the deer are eating from peoples' flower gardens. A total waste of time and money and they start asking for tips before you even leave the strip mall parking lot. Then you arrive back to the strip mall with 30 other people from the tour who haven't had a chance to pee for 2 hours and the place has one toilet. Total rip off. Oh, the locals all yell at you and flip you off and think you are an idiot because you are feeding an industry that is wasteful and polluting and bringing trucks through a quiet residential neighborhood all day long. I'm very sorry I took part in this. read more

I booked with "back beach horse tours" online or some similarly named company but was directed to Bob's by the receipt and my credit card statement also said Bob's. Seems sketchy to me, but I didn't realize it until we arrived for our tour. There were about 9 of us who booked online and showed up for a tour to find the doors locked, the open sign on, and no one to answer the phone. Nobody showed up as we waited 30 minutes past the time we booked. Never received a phone call, though the charge was removed from my card. First of all, learn how to use your website and voicemail to indicate if you are running tours or not. Secondly, is "Bob" running multiple businesses out of one location? Why? What kind of scam is happening? Thirdly, a phone call or email would have been appreciated. Overall, avoid this business and any over business that seems linked to it. read more

I'm very disappointed at how Bob's has handled our refund. My family and I originally booked for the 4th of July weekend. I was visiting from NYC and they live about an hour away. It was a total of 4 adults and 2 children. The company failed to communicate with us that due to a local parade, we should make the proper arrangements to arrive on time since the parade would leave only one lane open for travel. We tried rescheduling and even made arrangements to head back for Labor Day weekend. The week prior to our scheduled tour, we were told the site wouldn't be opened. We have been waiting for a refund since September 1 and have now been waiting to hear back from the company. read more
