Honest, affordable, and communicative. This family run shop has worked on all my vehicles ranging from oil changes, battery replacements, brake jobs, electrical work, and even radiator replacements. Solid work and solid service. read more

My Jeep Cherokee has been overheating and misfiring, the Jeep dealer quoted me almost $8,000. After a recommendation from a close friend, I towed it to Bob's for a second opinion. They did a full service on the cylinder heads, resurfaced the heads and replaced the gaskets. All for a fraction of the cost. After 20,000 miles later, vehicle still runs strong and the misfire is no longer here. I appreciate Bob and his team. They made the process quick, easy and affordable. read more

I called in before I had my car towed to the repair shop for a engine malfunction. They confirmed the car arrived and we went over my Toyota Corolla issues. They ran diagnostics and let me know the items they found. I had known most of them but did not expect it to run in the tens of thousands. We planned on making initial repairs to gift the car to my daughter but we're contemplating if it was worth to do the repairs or just buy a different car. After talking about the cost and what it needed to get done, we decided to go forward with the repairs. They were willing to work with us which I really appreciated. I spoke to the owner, he made me feel comfortable with the work that needed to be done and was confident it was going to run as good as new. There was some time getting the parts in that delayed the completion of the repairs however, we were not in any rush. To get started, we paid half of it upfront and paid the balance upon completion. I must say, my Toyota Corolla works just as I remember when we got it. I highly recommend Bob's Auto For their workmanship and communication. read more

Jason saved the day! Thank you! I stopped by and he immediately helped me, was kind, and patient.

Leak in my tire; 10 minutes later, nail removed, plugged. DONE. Cost: lunch for 2. Oh, and they also replaced my alternator this year no problem, reasonable and very friendly as usual. I've been going to Bob's for over 20 years. read more

Update review: Still my #1 car repair shop in SF!! And I will not be going anywhere else. Car started shaking and check engine light came out. I called Bob's to ask if I could come in and they said yes. They diagnosed my car and clearly communicated what was wrong and what needed to be fixed. (engine misfire - needed to replace engine coils). I also needed an oil change so I got that done as well. Dropped my car off at 12ish and picked it up that same day around 5! The staff here is amazing. They won't scam you and they make sure they are thorough with their work. And they really do care about their customers! I'm so grateful I have a reliable shop in the city. It makes me feel soooo much better knowing I have a car spot!! Would 150% recommend to everyone!!!! read more

I brought my Toyota Highlander in due to a squeaking noise, and Bob was able to fit me in the same day, which I really appreciated. After inspecting the braking system, he found that the front brake pads and rotors were completely worn down (metal-to-metal), and the calipers were leaking brake fluid. Bob quickly ordered affordable, quality parts and had everything repaired by the evening, getting me safely back on the road the same day. I also noticed his ASE Certification, which gave me extra confidence in the work being done. Thank you for the fast, honest, and reliable service! read more

Great service, helped me with a bunch of issues and reasonable prices! Definitely will be going to them for future services

Was having lunch in the area when I notice Bobs, I came in and asked for a price for oil change, my car was in need of one. When he told me the price I was shocked on how much lower it was compared to everyone else. They seemed very busy and they said they can get me in and out right away. This was totally awesome.m, specially I wasn't expecting to get this done today. They checked my brakes and told me I could use a change on the next service date, he insured me I would be ok. I will most definitely bring my vehicle in for any reason. If your looking for great price, honesty, bobs auto is the place. read more

Classic bait and switch used at Bob's Auto Service. I came by on Tuesday evening to get pricing on installing my shocks/struts for labor only. After checking with the manager and going on the computer to look up my vehicle. They said it would be $600 for 4 hours of labor at $150 per hour. I told them that I would return on Friday morning to leave my car and they said that was fine. I brought in my car on 9:30 am on Friday morning and let the manager know I came in and left my car with them. I received a call later that morning and was told that it would be 5 hours of labor at $750. I let them know that they said it would only be 4 hours of labor on Tuesday and the reason was for 2 hours for the front and 3 hours for the rear. They also said I needed 2 new tires in the front because they are bald. This is false because I went to America's Tire mid last month and they checked all of the tread on my tires and they said they were in good tread. I didn't appreciate that they wanted to add onto the invoice for tires which were not needed at all. I go in to pick up my car later in the afternoon and again asked why an extra hour of labor was charged. They said that they didn't have the VIN # to look up when I went in on Tuesday. I provided all of my vehicle info, make, model and type of drivetrain. They should have asked me for the VIN # if they needed it and I would have given. I've called about 5 other auto repair shops for pricing on the install of shocks/struts and none of them asked for a VIN #. Unfortunately, this will be the first and last time at Bob's Auto. read more

Amazing customer service and would highly recommend! I had a nail in my tire and needed a patch. I was in and out in like 15-20 min! Parked in the lot, talked to the owner and immediately someone started working on the tired. It was almost lunch time so I walked down the block to grab a sandwich and by the time I got back, my car was ready to go. Thank you so much for the super fast service. Everyone there was really nice. Would definitely be coming back for car help! read more

My dad told me to check this place out to get my transmission flush. Glad I listen because they gave me a good price and same day service, and when I say same day, I mean they got started on my car quickly. They pointed out some other things that i will need to get done on the car. there was no pressure like some of the other places who act like they need to get it done asap. They let me know when I should come back. They made sure my vehicle was not at risk for breaking down. Will be coming back. read more

Wow. I cannot say enough good things about Bob's Auto Service. Jason (owner) and his son Jonathan took incredible care of me. Jonathan corresponded with me while Jason and the team worked on my car, I really appreciated the kind communication. As a young woman, automotive services can be tricky for fear of being scammed, etc. But I never felt that way here. In fact, their pricing is REALLY good, plus you won't find service like this anywhere else. Family-owned and operated is a huge plus. I went in for an oil / filter change and left as a long-term customer - thank you! read more

Sudden brake failure at 1pm on a Saturday, they were able to get new parts and fix everything even though they had to stay open later than usual, very reasonable prices, good communication, and diagnosed problems much quicker than the mechanic I had previously used, as well as being very conveniently located. My truck broke down on the highway in San Francisco after visiting family. I live in Sacramento, being stranded I have no idea where to tow it to. After asking a family member, they recommended Bobs. This was the best decision I have made. Bob's was able to fit me in same day, throughly explained what was the cause and correction needed to repair my truck. After his electrical diagnosis, he found that the power train control module was going bad and caused the alternator to overcharge the system. Bob was able to get the powertrain control module ordered and programmed same day and got me back home to Sacramento late evening. Bob only charged me half of the diagnosis!! A honest, reliable and trusted mechanic is hard to find these days, I was not upsold on anything. They did notice some minor oil leaks but I don't consider that being upselling because the issue was noticeable which they wanted to make me aware. Unfortunately it was the transmission oil pan gasket. There was no pressure on the recommended service either. Due to the timing issue, I did not get it done as I was in a rush needing to go home. The best part was that they showed me what was found during the diagnosis process for reassurance and peace of mind. I got back home to Sacramento with peace of mind. If my truck was stranded in San Francisco again, I am towing it to Bobs. Thank you guys! read more

I'm not the brightest person when it comes to car issues. About 2 weeks ago, my car notified me that one of my tires were low on air. I was like eh, it can wait.. since it was in the 20s for PSI while the others were in the 30s. Fast forward to yesterday morning, my PSI was at 17 all of a sudden and others were at 30. I was like hm, maybe I will as CK to help me put air in my tires after work. When I get into my car after work, my tires were now at 15 PSI! I call CK and I ask him to help me put air in my car. He says it sounds like a nail was on my tire and I didn't realize to check. While I wait outside for him, I go check and lo and behold - there's a nail in my car! This was after work, so most places were getting ready to close. I bust out my handy dandy yelp page and look for a place nearby that can help me. I find Bob's Auto Service and give them a quick call if they can do it right now. They say yes and I drive over. Took about 30 mins and $40 to remove the nail and patch up my tires. Not bad! The guy was also nice enough to put more air in all my tires. Quick service, friendly, and good pricing! read more

I have been really hesitant to find a new mechanic since I moved to the city, especially because I always feel like i get taken advantage of since I do not know much about cars. Needless to say, my gut was right. I do not know if it is a tactic of theirs or coincidental but the lady working the phone is super differcult to understand. I called the day before to ask about making an appointment and to get pricing which seemed fair ($80 for oil change & $250 for Ac Refresh) based on my minor research, so I figured I'd try it out since it's a close walk from my place. I also had a noise coming from the back of my car so I decided to do a diagnostic check when I brought it In. Sure enough 2 hours later they call me to tell me that there is a leak in my AC and told me how much it would be to fix it ($350). Like I said the lady on the phone was SUPER difficult to understand, so since I was close I just decided to walk over to talk in person. Still there was a bit of a language barrier and she did not do a good job of explaining anything. I think she was trying to translate for the mechanic who also did not speak great english. Any questions I asked to clarify she just kept pointing to the paper and repeating the same thing. Anyway they said that they would repair the Ac then do the oil change. Then a couple hours later they call me saying the AC is done and something about needing to do the oil change but they are not sure if it will fix the noise coming from my car. I agreed and said sure that's fine just do the oil change. She was super unclear on the phone, so I thought she meant that they still just needed to do the oil change after the diagnostic check. Then when I come to pick up my car she was going over my bill and it was $250 more than what we discussed when I came in person. She said I approved using other type of oil over the phone when she called. She said NOTHING about it being an Extra $250 And my car is still making the noise!! Which I know she said might not fix it, but there was hardly even any verdict from the diagnostic check either. All they said it was coming from the back of the car which I already knew. I would not recommend this place unless you are coming in for something really simple and even then I would only go in person for any communication. I ended up spending over $1000 when I was initially expecting to pay $480. At the end of the day, I so was pissed because since I technically authorized the everything, there was nothing I could do. I just bit my tongue from screaming at the lady. I understand not everyone's first language is english, but they need to hire someone that can clearly explain what is going on to the customer. read more

I was able to bring my car in right away for service. However, the next day it began smoking and leaking a ton of oil on the freeway on my way to work. I had to stop by another auto repair shop to assess what was going on. Turns out, the individual who did my oil change at Bobs forgot to put the cap back on. I went back to Bobs the next day with my receipt from the other auto shop and let them know what happened. they apologized and actually reimbursed me for the trouble. will return again! read more

Had my oil changed at this location. With all the great reviews, I thought it would be a no brainer to bring my car here. However, when I got my car back, I noticed several abrasion marks on the engine covers. In addition, there were two indentation on the door entry sill. It makes me wonder what was happening to my car while I was away. My car came back worse than when I took it in. I would not recommend this business based on how my pride and joy vehicle was treated. Vehicles don't necessarily remember what you said to them, but they never for how they were treated. Mine was treated poorly. read more

BEWARE OF SCAMMER. We came to get a screw removed from a tire. Before signing any paperwork or giving us an estimate, an employee started working on the tire (my partner was watching him) while I was speaking with the owner. He pulled the screw, which had not punctured through the tire, and then punctured the sidewall of the tire with the repair tool. Then the owner and I came over and he demanded we buy a new tire. Thankfully I realized they were trying to scam me and refused. After a fair amount of arguing, they gave up and put a temporary patch in the tire. The employee who punctured the tire apologized and said "sorry my boss just wants money". I think that speaks for itself. Avoid this shop if you can, as they will likely try to scam you too. read more

Following all the positive yelp reviews, I turned to them when I had a tire running low pressure. The helpful technician kindly filled my tire for free, and when I offered to tip or pay him, he said, 'don't worry, just bring it back to have it fixed if it starts flattening again'. And... it did run low again so I brought it in. They found a nail which was quickly fixed for $35!! They are definitely now my go-to local auto repair shop! read more
