The cheese selections are stellar! Loved it when served on charcuterie platters at the local winery in Pittstown. Had to buy direct!

Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon after picking my daughter up at the train station. We popped in…read morefor a sandwich to share. It was fun reading the options on the board in the window. We split the turkey and Brie sandwich with fig jam. Sandwich is big enough to share. I was comfortably full when finished. We enjoyed looking at the crackers and condiments available while we waited. Will try another sandwich.

This should be zero stars because I had zero experience. Check out my review of the cheese shop…read moreinside the Wine List. Also in Summit. About 2 -3 blocks away. Always wanted to try this place. Thought might buy some cheese and a sandwich. Walked in. Woman at the counter. Asking about cheese. Lot of questions. Got the impression she's making a cheese board. No Acknowledgment from guy behind counter. Walked around store. Not going to describe it. Not going to describe what else they had. 5 minutes, 10 minutes. No acknowledgement. No we will be right with you. No we won't be right with you because clearly we are going to only pay attention to this woman for the next 29 minutes as she decides what kind of cheeses she wants for her cheeseboard. Finally walked out. Got pizza at SQR PIZZA boy they make good pizza. Stopped at The Wine List. They have a cheese shop. Boy they were helpful and friendly. Knowledgeable. Gave me some samples. Back rub. (Okay no back rub). Highly recommend. Read my review. 5 stars. Could have gone like this. Hi sir welcome to the Summit Cheese shop how are you? Oh I'm fine thank you, yourself? Well, my back hurts a bit. Probably the rain. Yeah probably. Look this might take a while. Oh I really wanted a turkey and Brie sandwich. Okay well I'll work on that after I finish up. Could you come back in maybe 20 minutes? Yes I can/ oh sorry I have to get back I'm on my lunch break. Thanks so much for acknowledging me as a human being, though. My pleasure! And scene.

Excellent ricotta, very good mozzarella…read more The first thing to know about finding this place is that there is no sign, at least not one that I saw. It is the big white building immediately across Railroad Ave from the train station in Lebanon. We saw three tank trucks parked on the road in front of the building with Lebanon Dairy logos. Two more were pulling in as we left so they must make tons of cheese - mainly ricotta and mozzarella. Anyway, go up the driveway and park behind the second building - the one with the Office sign. Now is when you have to take a deep breath, because the retail entrance is via a cluttered porch and the "store" looks like an employee lunchroom. This is a 99% wholesale operation with retail strictly as an afterthought. Ring the doorbell and someone will walk over from the cheese factory in a minute or two. We purchased the ricotta, mozz, and some ravioli. The ravioli are brought in. They also sell (imported) parmesan, pecorino and provolone. The mozz is as good as I have seen in a long time. Not perfect but still very nice. The ricotta is outstanding - dribble some honey on top and it is dessert. My wife and I discussed the ricotta here as compared to Di Palo's in New York. We agreed that it is as good but just a little different - maybe it is different cows. The mozz here is better than at Di Palo's but that isn't saying as much as I never liked Di Palo's mozz. Looks like I won't need to cart ricotta back from NYC anymore. FYI this shop came to my attention due to a mention from a local bakery which uses Lebanon's ricotta to make cheesecakes. http://gourmettouchbakery.com/products/cheesecakes
