If you buy a lot then the tip is too much. Wondering how customers deal with this issue. This applies to other stores that do the same. It is awkward.

This is my second review. First one wasn't good and unfortunately this one isn't much better…read more My husband stopped by looking for whole fish, which they happily had but it was larger than he wanted so he opted to buy me lunch since I work nearby. The issue is that the sandwiches sound delicious on the menu but the reality doesn't live up to my expectations. My husband order some spicy Mexican inspired fried catfish sandwich for himself and a fried scallop sandwich for me. The sandwiches presented well but both lacked flavor, salt & seasoning in general. Even the soups; one was supposed to be red lentils but looked mostly yellow lentil and again desperately needed salt for one and would have been improved with additional seasonings. Whoever made the manhattan clam chowder got the recipe correct. It was the only thing that was tasty without needing alteration. The owner is nice and after my first poor review offered to make me a replacement but I didn't take him up on the offer. If they only get it right while someone is watching over their shoulder, what's the point. It is NOT a cheap lunch so to be disappointed is a real bummer. Better to stick with the raw seafood items or some prepackaged items (hummus & great flatbreads).

Excellent ricotta, very good mozzarella…read more The first thing to know about finding this place is that there is no sign, at least not one that I saw. It is the big white building immediately across Railroad Ave from the train station in Lebanon. We saw three tank trucks parked on the road in front of the building with Lebanon Dairy logos. Two more were pulling in as we left so they must make tons of cheese - mainly ricotta and mozzarella. Anyway, go up the driveway and park behind the second building - the one with the Office sign. Now is when you have to take a deep breath, because the retail entrance is via a cluttered porch and the "store" looks like an employee lunchroom. This is a 99% wholesale operation with retail strictly as an afterthought. Ring the doorbell and someone will walk over from the cheese factory in a minute or two. We purchased the ricotta, mozz, and some ravioli. The ravioli are brought in. They also sell (imported) parmesan, pecorino and provolone. The mozz is as good as I have seen in a long time. Not perfect but still very nice. The ricotta is outstanding - dribble some honey on top and it is dessert. My wife and I discussed the ricotta here as compared to Di Palo's in New York. We agreed that it is as good but just a little different - maybe it is different cows. The mozz here is better than at Di Palo's but that isn't saying as much as I never liked Di Palo's mozz. Looks like I won't need to cart ricotta back from NYC anymore. FYI this shop came to my attention due to a mention from a local bakery which uses Lebanon's ricotta to make cheesecakes. http://gourmettouchbakery.com/products/cheesecakes

Hormel Foods is an American multinational food processing company founded in 1891 in Austin,…read moreMinnesota, by George A. Hormel as George A. Hormel & Company. The company originally focused on the packaging and selling of ham, sausage and other pork, chicken, beef and lamb products to consumers, adding Spam in 1937. And who doesn't know Spam! Hormel makes more than just Spam. But Spam is it's most well known product. I'm recommending Hormel foods if you like a fast meal. I ate a lot of Spam when I was in college. My Mother would mail me care packages with Spam in them! In my family we ate a lot of Dinty Moore Beef Stew. I didn't concern myself with the ingredients back then. I had to eat what was put in front of me. I do periodically buy the Applegate lunch meats another Hormel product. It's delicious for sandwiches. The added ingredients are minimal. I always like the Turkey and Ham.

Who doesn't love Spam? And who hasn't enjoyed Spam in abundance on Hawaii where it reigns supreme?…read moreI grew up eating Spam on weekend camping outings where we tent camped (primitively) and heated meals over a camp fire. Spam is great for camping - it travels well, is shelf stable, filling, and likely could be eaten straight from the can. It's of course better heated. Hormel Foods extends beyond Spam, they offer a wide range of food products! My favorite Hormel items are their pepperoni; Jennie-O ground turkey; and Hormel Black Label bacon! These Hormel products are delicious and good quality! I've had the Hormel chili before and don't really care for it. I'm glad Hormel offers Spam in so many varieties these days! Spam varieties include "light" and "lower sodium," which is nice! Hormel products are widely available in grocery stores, Dollar Generals, Sam's Clubs, and more! Thanks Hormel, I specially love Jennie-O products and your Black Label bacon!
