Do not order the BBQ. Absolutely repulsive. Had to throw out a $20 plate of food. Watery Mac and cheese frozen sweet potatoes fries and the fattiest chewiest brisket. Great Specialty Store!! Well I have driven passed this farm store several times and decide to check it out. My curiosity got the best of me as always. I was pleasantly surprised!! It deceiving inside, it's so big and organized. Lots of great displays and I wanted to buy a little of everything. I swear .. yup I'm a impulse buyer. Of course, I walk right to the Tomahawk and it winked back at me. I walked away and it said you'd be back. Shrugged it off, see it staring back. I stop by to pick up some apples and to see the outside of this market. I've driven by many times and I decided to stop by today. Did all sorts of pre-prepared dinners to go. I picked up a pumpkin soup! I also got some freshly made of mozzarella. I really enjoyed my apples so far. Bought 2 premade pasta dishes (Penne Vodka and Fettuccine Alfredo) totaled almost $30. BOTH were bad rancid to the smell and taste the same NIGHT. What's worse is that they had sell by expiration dates for tomorrow or 3 days out- they would've literally had mold by then. This is the 3rd time out of maybe 12 times I've bought premade foods from here and this has happened. My mistake for trying again but this is a very unsafe operation here, and I am all for farm to table and small businesses, but the blatant disregard the checkout ladies have when bringing this up, and I can't be the only person experiencing this. Well the health department will be contacted tomorrow. I suggest more internal controls and some customer service when offering grocery items. read more

Take out food was horrible. Turkey meatballs were tasteless with no seasoning. Tossed $20 package of meatballs. Pasta Fagioli had little flavor. Used tasteless cannolini beans rather than Borlata (cranberry) beans. Very little broth. Fried eggplant--so thin that it was like eating a breadcrumb sandwich. Could neither find nor taste eggplant. I've been wanting to check this place out for sometime. This farm was previously called the Profeta Farms in Readington. It is now owned and operated by the Vacchiano Family who have several other locations and have been around since 1992. This place is a real working farm. Their Farmhouse Store and production facility is located on more than 300 acres right off Route 202 in Readington. The Vacchiano family humanely raise their own Beef, Lamb, Chickens, Ducks,and Traditional and Heritage Breed Turkeys. All their animals are free- range and get to roam freely and graze the way animals used to be able to. The animals are allowed to mature naturally, without the use of antibiotics, hormones or growth stimulants. All their animals are butchered humanely on the premises. I can tell you first hand that their Filet Mignon Roast my bf just bought us for Valentine's Day was the best I've ever had. It was so tender and lean and melted in my mouth, I loved every bite. I also bought their Broccoli Rabe Sausage which I made with their homemade Rigatoni Pasta. It was so full of flavor and went well with their homemade pasta. I also purchased their Boneless Chicken Breast which was also very good. Vacchiano Farms bottles and cans all their own tomatoes on the premises. They sell Baked Goods,Breads, Cheeses and Traditional Sausages along with Italian Sodas, Olive Oils, and some Specialty Items that are all imported from Italy. Their harvest over 15 acres of vegetables which are sold daily..Their known for their tomatoes and they grow over 25 varieties. In the summer they grow an array of fruits and berries. They have a nice Cheese Section. Their Provolone is custom cut and sold. They sell fresh Ricotta, and make homemade Mozzarella. They have their own Vineyards in the "Skyland's" region of NW Jersey. They sell wine at their Farmhouse Store. They have an amazing German Baker named Uber. He bakes everything fresh daily. Did I mention their amazing Cakes, Cookies, and Italian Pastries? To die for! If you want a custom cake it can be made (see pictures.) Vacchiano's will create and make any kind of cake with any kind of filling, you can bring them a photo and they'll make it. A lovely woman named JoAnne came up to me. We started talking and I found out she's the manager. She took me around this very well organized Farmhouse Store and was so welcoming. She even showed me their homemade Dog Food that they sell for only $2. It's totally raw, but can be cooked. In the Spring, Summer and Fall you can enjoy their delicious Sandwiches, Salads and Hot Entrees at their picnic tables which overlook the picturesque Vacchiano fields. The Vacchiano Family also sells their products at different Farmers Markets. This Store is very neat and organized. Everything here is beautifully displayed and is easy to find. There is handicapped parking and the store is wheelchair accessible. This is not your average farmhouse store. Everything here is high quality so expect to pay more but it's worth it. I really enjoyed my time here and I will definitely be returning. read more

Really bad look for this place; I decided to post a review here after they blocked me for complaining that I was over charged $5.00 on a chicken pot pie. Simply stated, a sign on the shelf under the product was posted as, '$20.00'..... at the register, the clerk charged me $25.00, and then begged off telling me that they forgot to change the sign: that is not only poor customer relations, but, it is illegal. will not go back here. read more

I really feel bad about saying this but we purchased 3 item from the farm 2 of the items were terrible. We bought a contain of FULL SOUR pickles they tasted like dill pickles. They were very crisp but not FULL SOUR at all. Next purchase was ready to cook homemade EGGPLANT ROLLATINI we cooked them as suggested in the oven there was no flavor to them at all. Been driving past this place for years, finally was able to stop-in. Really nice looking place. Lots of things from which to choose. Lots of homemade choices for prepared meals, frozen meals, and baked goods. Very nice time walking around and buying stuff including homemade sauces. Got home, tried the pasta, chicken and broccoli rabe prepared dinner. It was vile. Simple ingredients but so sour it was as if vinegar (not an ingredient) was poured all over it. (Not past their stamped sell-by date, but clearly was spoiled(?)) Then made their chicken pot pie (90 minutes to cook)... Lots of crust and very bland. The desserts were also horrible. Chocolate mousse had that chalky taste, and the chocolate pound cake was dry and crumbly like a sponge cake. What a complete waste of money for us; we live to far to return it, so it all went into the trash bin. read more

This is my go-to place for meat when I want something more upscale. The New York strip steaks are top quality and on par, if not better, than Whole Foods or Wegmans, which is saying a lot since both of those places have great steaks. The chicken is also very good, and there is a large variety of sausages, including a lamb mergueze, a chorizo, and bratwurst, among others, all from their farm. They also have an interesting variety of Italian packaged cookies and pastas. In the summer, I pick up a very good peach wine, which they make on their farm. I have also had their store made peach pie which was very good. This is an interesting, upscale, farm store whose owners also purvey products at the Summit Farmers' Market. read more

They make a big point of "minimally processed", not entirely certain what that means for raw meat. Sells fresh Jersey produce in the summer like corn, peaches and tomatoes. Bakes their own bread and pastries. Has a coffee bar and sells ice cream. Italian specialties include hard cheeses, dried pasta, canned vegetables and sweets. You could do almost all your food shopping here, the only thing I didn't see was fresh milk. Tomahawk steaks for $20/lb! I went for sausage instead, I thought $7/lb for smoked bratwurst was pretty reasonable. read more

I was curious about this store. I went here when it was Profetta Farms and it wasn't too impressive.This is clearly a more interesting store. I didn't have a lot of time to check it out. I was only after some end of the season corn. I am familiar with Vachianos from being a one time regular at the Summit Farmers Market . Vacchiano Catering was a HUGE win! My family just hosted a thank you luncheon for a team of 20 nurses who had helped us with a family member who recently needed a lot of care. As the luncheon approached, we realized we had run out of time to cook as had originally been our plan. We took a chance and called Vacchiano's Catering! Boy, are we glad that we did! Perfectly grilled trays of flank steak with house made chimmichuri sauce, a giant tray of golden chicken cutlets, caprese salad stacks with fresh tomatoes and house made mozzarella, house made chips/salsa, melon with Proscuitto, potato salad, roasted peppers, a tray of deli cheese, 2 dozen Italian hoagie rolls, etc. This FEAST was fresh, delicious and beautifully packaged to go! The price was less than half what we were expecting to pay had we catered elsewhere and the lunch was a HUGE hit with our guests! THANK YOU VACCHIANO'S! You've been our family's "go to" for speciality steaks, Thanksgiving turkey and Christmas prime rib, etc for years, but now you will also be our GO TO caterer! read more

As much as we like coming here we stopped by today and noticed that everything shrunk and the prices got larger. We normally like the ricotta pie but you don't make it anymore. Revisited after they completed renovations and happy to report they now have a large selection of items. Fresh meat, produce, and tons of baked good. This is a great market to go for meat especially, but also for all kinds of other things. The meat selection is extensive and I believe most of it, if not all, is grass fed and raised on their own farms. Lots of veggies, again much of it is their own. Breads, pastries - all good. They have foccaccia flat breads, sort of like a pizza topped with all kinds of vegetables - makes a simple healthy dinner if you don't feel like cooking. Great spot for healthy local food and a great way to support local agriculture. Worth a trip! read more

I'm always eager to visit local farms and was very excited to check out the store. I went with high expectations which were somewhat not met. The store is well laid out, ok produce; the meats and sausages, chicken, etc. were properly packaged & neatly laid out. I was also eager to check out the bakery and after strolling around, settled on an apple cheese strudel and baguette. The $3.50 baguette was good, crispy crust, but was very disappointed in the $9 strudel which had a trace of apple filling and some cheese. read more
