After much thought, my PIC (partner in crime) and I decided to convert my office into a wine room. We had talked to several friends of ours and did our research and we narrowed it down to Bobo custom builders. They had done a wine cellar for one our of close friends. A wine cellar was out of the question so we went with a wine room. We called Bobo, they came out in late October 2017. They checked out the room and we discussed our ideas and concerns. Bobo officially started the project in February 2018 and were done in April. Bobo gave me a schedule and they were on time. Very disappointed. I am trying to have a kitchen remodeled in one of the apartments I own and scheduled a meeting with Ken at 8:30AM on Wednesday 11/12/14. His company called the day before to confirm the appointment, which I felt very good about. It made me believe I was dealing with a company that had its act together. On the morning of the appointment, my husband and I were both at the apartment, but Ken was a no-show. At 8:50AM I called his office to find out what happened. They said they would call Ken and get right back to me. At 10:15AM, I still hadn't heard back from them, so I gave them a follow up call. The secretary that answered was very polite and put me on hold to check into the issue. When she returned to the line, she said that Ken claims to have come out and no one was here. Then she offered to reschedule my appointment. No thanks! Not only was I home all morning, I also had my cell phone on my person the entire time. How is this acceptable in today's business environment? I am obviously not using Bobo and am continuing my search for a reliable contractor/builder. read more

I recently moved from Phoenix to San Antonio. I purchased a 90 year old house in Alamo Heights with a guest house that was in desperate need of remodeling--sagging rafters, plumbing nightmare, odors, bad windows...you name it. It was a total gut job. I interviewed 3 builders and settled on one that I found on Home Advisor that was the lowest bidder. Huge mistake! After realizing the quality of his work wasn't going to meet my expectations, we agreed to part ways after a took a couple thousand dollar hit. I went back to Bobo Construction (who bid the job initially) because they impressed me upon first conversation and had been recommended by my realtor. Yes, Bobo was a bit more expensive, but they were worth every penny. They were very thorough up front, stayed on top of their subs, kept the area clean, and moved the project along beautifully. They did exactly what they said they'd do a bit more. The superintendent, Kerry, was an experienced superintendent that treated my wife and kids with the utmost of respect. He communicated well and was always very positive and helpful if I had questions. I've done many construction projects over the years (from a full custom home to landscaping to kitchen remodels) and this was hands down my best experience. Every single construction project has unforeseen challenges, but with Bobo Construction on the job I never had to lose a wink of sleep. We sailed through each city inspection. You will find cheaper contractors out there, but beware, you may very well pay more in the end because you'll be reworking mess ups and potentially get ripped off. It's tempting to go cheap, but a bad construction project can ruin you life for a year. Bobo is worth the small amount extra! It was a pleasure doing business with these guys and I give them my highest praise. read more

I used Bobo 5 years ago for a kitchen remodel and they were so great I used them this year to remodel my 1960s bathroom. The service was again fantastic. Every detail is extensively discussed and planned before the work starts and Robin, in sales, worked hard to give me what I wanted within my budget. They always respond quickly when called and to resolve any problems. Kerry, the superintendant was fantastic and kept an eye on every detail. It's a very responsible company. They remodeled our kitchen about 5 years ago. They do a free design. They will come in and look and listen to what you want to do or what you don't like about what you have now. They will design it for you and let you look at it.. We liked what they had designed, so we decided to go with them again. The site supervisor we had was absolutely excellent. I gave him a hug when he walked out of the house the last day. He comes by everyday to check. He would call every morning to let us know what would happen. He stuck by the calendear they gave us at the start of the job. He always showed up atleast twice a day, seeing how things were done, make sure we were happy. We wrote a letter to Ken Bobo, the president, because we were so pleased. Hiring Bobo Customer Builders to totally remodel our kitchen (all new cabinets, replacing the tile floor with hardwood, and installing all new appliances) plus remodeling our fireplace with a new tile surround and replacing all of carpet in our living room, master bedroom, formal dining room, and downstairs powder room was the best decision we could have made. They also replaced our wooden stair railings and balusters with an amazing wrought iron system. Not only did we have total control over the design and the products used but Bobo kept us in the loop throughout the entire project. Everyone involved from initial design and engineering staff to final production crews were totally professional and always worked with us on every aspect of the work. My wife and I will not hesitate to call Bobo Custom Builders again for any home remodeling we choose to do in the future. These people are the real deal. read more

We choose Bobo Custom Builders for a bathroom remodel in our home. From the first contact for a walk through and an estimate to the finished project, we could not be happier. We have done multiple remodels in the past few years. None of them went so smoothly as with Bobo Custom Builders. The project was completed on time and within the budget established. The work was done with professional and respectful sub-contractors. The Project Manager, Kerry, was awesome. He kept our home clean and free from construction debris. Called McNair Custom Homes for a bid on repairs to my homes roof causing interior water damage in my office. McNair doesn't do repairs unless it's their built custom home. They suggested another name Bobo Builders but wouldn't know their workmanship. Called Bobo & spoke with assistant Kelly & owner Ken who would visit. Eventually Ken came out but didn't get on the roof to inspect or measure as just looked from the ground. Then went inside & looked at offices interior water damage where he just took a few pics. He said he would get me an estimate after speaking with his roofers. Waited weeks never hearing back then called Bobo & spoke to Ken who gave a verbal estimate of aprox $4k & said in the office they would tear out a large section of drywall then only paint that area removed & paint to feather into the existing walls as he didn't want to have to deal with the contents manipulation. I mentioned most companies would paint the entire walls & still needed the estimate. Waited another month & called back & asked Ken if he's given up on the job but he said he would "circle the wagons" & get me his bid. Another months gone by & called Kelly who said she would leave him a messsge to call me back. Needless to say Ken is obviously pretty unreliable considering he's never followed through with any of his shallow promises. I doubt his estimate would be a reliable reflection of proper repair methods based on his lacking inspection process not even capable of looking at the roof or taking proper measurements along with being capable of understanding a construction proper scope of repairs. I believe his true character is to simply assess the job & swag a price he can profitably live with trying to see if his customers would know the difference. If he finds a gullible unknowning customer... he can take price advantage of.... assuming he may want the job but then you have to wonder if his workers are actually capable of doing the repairs properly never knowing what his estimate suggests as he doesn't provide a written estimate to hold him to details. Buyers beware of this alledged builder Ken as he's simply a "BoBo" ("silly" in Spanish) pretending to be a contractor and simply puts "custom builder" in his business name to make the public think he does building workmanship. He initial meets you then never follows back up because he's not capable of providing a proper work estimate of building repairs. I should have known what to expect when he didn't inspect the roof damage nor bothered to bring a tape measure to write up any scope notes with his visual inspect to give after weeks of waiting eventually listening to some kind of pathetic verbal estimate over the phone. Would not recommend this joker to people & suggest everyone be very cautious of these types of individuals. Also doubt this guy would warranty any types of remodel repairs he does as he has absolutely no follow up with customers but rather allows customers constant chase for nothing. Thursday 7/19/18@10:30am got a call back from owner Ken who now says he hasn't been able to get a roofer to do my roof repairs is why he hasn't got back me me... bogus since he already gave me a verbal quote over the phone but never provided a written estimate then he said he didn't appreciate my yelp comments & I said my comments were a direct result of my personal experience by him him never following up with me having my constantly chase & it's real interesting the day after I give a yelp review then I get my very first call back from BoBo's whining about my review. I said if it wasn't for his lack of follow up I likely wouldn't have needed to do a review but when BoBo completely ignores a customer for months I guess they should expect my review on a very very poor experience & lack of professional courtesy to a customer that gave them an opportunity for work which they failed miserably. Whiner Ken can't take the realty of a pathetic drawn out experience where he likely wouldn't have ever called me back unless the yelp review wasn't initiated. Maybe they should communicate with customers instead on ignoring them. Buyers beware. read more
