Specifically requesting a Tri-toon. ​We showed up on the saturday we booked for and they said they had us on a ski boat. I told them no so they gave us a boat. This boat had many broken areas and was infested with ants and roaches! We found some on the dock which they provided glass cleaner to us to spray the bugs....OK. when we got out on the water and went to get the life jackets that compartment was infested with roaches. The engine was leaking gas so there was a distinct gas smell the whole time. And a fish smell. Which we chalked up to being at the lake. When we pulled back up and started unloading g our stuff we found a full trash bag in a compartment under the front seats that had fish guts in it among other trash. They did comp my gas at the end. Which was only a quarter of a tank. They clearly gave us the spare boat or something since they got the reservation wrong. We made the most of it but that is ridiculous. We were also one of the first groups there and the only group with a full day rental. Wont rent here again unless they give me a day free. Be careful. Dont accept the red boat. Yall do better. ​

Then head down to the lake where the paddleboards are lined up along the lake. An employee will get you set up with a life vest/belt and paddle. After going over some basic info it's time to get on water. You will start out on your knees to get a feel for it. Once you are away from the water edge, the instructor will show you how to stand up and paddle. It's great to at least try to stand but if it's more fun for you to stay seated then that's perfectly fine too. Alex helped us and he was so patient. I requested a refund in July, and was told the instructor was out of town again and would reach out when he returned. It's now September and I've heard or received nothing. This is highly unacceptable for an organization that claims it supports wounded warriors and disabled veterans. 10/2/2021 In response to the owner's response. I do appreciate taking ownership for missed communication, but expeditiously means "in a timely manner". My original request for a refund was 3 months ago, and as of today I have yet to see the refund. Once the refund is seen, I would be more than happy to return the knot rope, cert book, textbook, and the drawstring backpack they came in. Aside from that, I was offered for my family and I to attend a discovery sail at no cost. I declined due to time constraints now that summer break has ended. I will say this. I chose this school based on the reviews found on Google and Facebook which are really great, and at the recommendation of the ASA. I'm sure the captain is great and believe that other people may have had great experiences here, this is just mine. They sold us the boat, it's a 2016 Nautique 230, and the first time out, it ran fine but wouldn't restart after stopping to swim. It did the same for the next 2 lake days. The problem only showed up after the engine was hot and had been turned off for a while, so I don't fault them for not catching it before selling it at all. Anyways... I called them and they sent someone all the way up from Texas to come get the boat and fix it. They ended up having to replace some major components at a considerable expense to them. They did it all free of charge and have been very responsive to my questions and concerns. It is so rare to find a company that stands by their word and does the right thing even when it's detrimental to their bottom line. I'm a lifelong customer now for sure! We wanted to do something fun with the kids. We originally planned to rent from another business…read morebut they didn't do rentals because of the lake flooding. They recommended we try Sam's Dock. The hours of the business say they close at 8 pm. No where on their site or at their location do they state the last rental was at 6 pm. We arrived at 6:02 and the woman wouldn't rent a jet ski to us. It was disappointing for the kids but we decided to return the next day. We arrived with plenty of time to rent a jet ski. There were 5 of us but it turns out we can't rent a jet ski for 3. Because of this, we didn't want to leave one child alone at the dock so we opted to rent one jet ski and my husband took the kids out to the lake one at a time. We sat at the restaurant, which was closed, in between the kids' turns. The minimum rental is 2 hours on the jet skis and you have to pay for gas on top of the rental fee. This was a surprise to us. We ended up having to pay an extra $50+ for the gas for 2 hours. Just be aware of that. This side of the lake there wasn't any parking fee so that was good. I think they provided us with a military discount, which was great. My husband mentioned the young man didn't know how to use the point of sale computers either. It took at least 30 minutes to check in and pay before getting on the jet ski so make sure to factor in that your timing.

So they give us some pontoon boat that is in horrible shape literally falling apart and in disrepair. It had dozens of big cockroaches come out of the well, the fender was literally falling off of it and needing screwed back in. Also there were very dangerous screws hanging off it that someone could have easily ended up in the hospital over. What's worse is the young dark haired kid that receives the boats back in was rude and when we wanted to bring up these safety issues when returning the boat not only did not care to listen was rude and walked off while trying to explain the safety issues on the boat we had rented. Simply did not care About safety of their future guests. Did not have the time or customer service skills and did not take the safety seriously literally walked off while we were trying to explain the issues with the boat. Because of that last one. The safety issue, and because of the roach infestation, we cannot recommend this boat rental or marina. Roach infestations And lack of focus on safety are both showstoppers.
