I was surprised when the bill came to around $500, but since I'm new to New York and diesel services can be more expensive, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and paid it. When I left, the owner told me I could come back anytime for a quick New York State inspection since they had already "looked over the entire vehicle." So I returned this morning right when they opened at 8:00 AM for the inspection. Right away something felt off. The owner wasn't even sure whether his DMV inspection machine could handle a diesel vehicle, which made me question why I had been told to come back in the first place. He then checked my front window tint and showed me it measured around 23%. I understand that New York requires about 70% light transmission, and I explained that I had just purchased the truck in Colorado and recently moved here. He walked me out into the shop area and showed me the reading. I told him I didn't want to waste his time and that I could simply remove the tint. I started peeling it off the driver's side window and it came off easily in about a minute. When I moved to the passenger side and began removing that tint as well, the owner suddenly started screaming at me, accusing me of being "entitled" and yelling about how I had no right to do anything in his shop, despite the fact that he was the one who had just brought me into the shop area moments earlier. It was one of the most unnecessarily hostile and unprofessional interactions I've had since moving to New York. I was trying to save both of us time and make it possible for the inspection to proceed. For context, I'm not "entitled." I work extremely hard for everything I have, and my family and I are currently even living with my mother-in-law while getting established here. Being spoken to that way by a business owner was completely uncalled for. Between the extremely expensive oil change, the confusion about whether they could even inspect a diesel vehicle, and the aggressive way I was treated, I cannot recommend this shop. If you value respectful customer service and transparency, I would strongly suggest looking elsewhere.

(Note: My collision was not that significant, yours may take more time.) He was responsive to my emails and worked to get proper payment from insurance without me involved. He just got it done. When I picked the car up he went over the work done carefully while in front of the car. Very friendly. Repair 5/5: PERFECT I tell ya'! The paint matched flawlessly; the lines on the pieces that were replaced were dead-on straight. The brand emblem was replaced, headlight -- perfect. He even took care of a minor ding I had which was not covered. Car handles great. Cleanliness: 5/5 - The car looked showroom new when he gave it back to me. He got it cleaned inside and out. I was not expecting it to look as good as it did. Prices: 4/5 - Seemed reasonable to me. Fortunately I didn't have to pay anything because of my situation. (Wasn't my fault.) Greg worked with the appraiser and got the prices figured out with almost no involvement from me. Parking: 2/5 - Parking here is VERY tight. The good news is that while my car was being repaired it was kept inside the garage. Speed: 4/5 - My front bumper, side panel and headlight repair took a little over a week. Considering the quality of repair the speed is no issue here. Reputable: 5/5 - The repair comes with a limited lifetime warranty in writing. I didn't even have to ask for it. Overall: 5/5 - Yelp has done it again. The good reviews here are not to be mocked. No need to go all over the place. Give 'em your keys. I got into an accident and went through Insurance to have my vehicle fixed. The job was done well cosmetically from what I could see. However, about a year and a half later, I had another incident and the second that my front bumper was damaged the paint immediately flaked and chipped away. When I brought my truck to two different shops to get quotes to have the work done, the FIRST THING out of both of the managers mouths at each shop was "Who painted your bumper"? When I tell you that it was the first thing out of both of their mouths I am not lying. I told them who it was, and that the reason I went to them was because they got such amazing reviews on Yelp. They both told me obviously that the bumper was not primed and prepped at all and that it was just simply painted. The bodywork, etc. that was done to my vehicle from what I can see was done correctly. I was not told otherwise. But the painting of my replacement bumper was half ass. You would expect that simple things like that are done correctly. I really wanted to leave them a good review and to be honest with you I wouldn't have known any difference had I not gotten into a second fender bender. But I'm glad that the other two mechanics pointed it out to me immediately. I had asked for a quote when I was there to fix a small dent in my trunk and I was quoted $1200 from Bona Fide. I found another gentleman that's been doing bodywork for 40 years and he did it for 250 bucks and did a phenomenal job. If you're gonna be a retail shop that charges retail prices you better do quality work front to back.
