Long story, I'll paraphrase when appropriate, but Bottom line upfront: they can probably make damage better, but these guys can't fix anything. I bought. 2012 challenger last year out of a collectors garage, pristine condition, 1000 miles. A real gem of a find. Not an imperfection. I brought my challenger in a year ago, I had nicked the vinyl striping. Being New to vinyl striping I asked, "can you guys fix this?" They should've just said no. It's not something they were capable of doing and they should've at least told me that upfront. Instead, Hours after the job begins, I get told "we've got a problem". They had used some sort of sanding machine to pull off the old striping (which I have since talked to actual professionals, this method should've never been used, should've been gently heated and peeled) and had completely stripped the paint. I was told I would need to have the spot repainted and striping put over that or it would be uneven. Well, at this point, what option do I have, sure, maybe these guys (who I assumed at the time were professionals) could fix it. I don't get angry with them, I remain polite and patient. Three days go by (how long I was told it would take), no call. I call them...repeatedly. Finally I am told they had to repaint the entire bumper and send it off for striping elsewhere. Are you f$&)ing kidding me? First of all, that scope of work was never approved. I would have NEVER allowed them to remove the bumper off of such a simple fix. I would've just taken it elsewhere. Unfortunately, here I am, no choice because it's already been done. I'll skip some of the back and forth right to pick up. Almost a week late. I get the car back, the vinyl striping is crooked. Facepalm. I decide to just pay them to get my keys and leave, knowing I'll need to get it redone, but honestly, at this point, even if they offered to fix it, I don't want them to ever touch my car again. I go home and decide to wash it. They had had it sitting outside and it was covered in fingerprints and dirt. As I wash, I find dents, scratches, and even a spot where they had spilled some sort of paint remover or something, as there were liquid drip spots on the paint. Again, pristine condition when I dropped it off. To add insult to injury, the bumper doesn't match the car (a known issue when repainting bumpers, why I would've NEVER approved that had anyone even asked me). The correct fix would've been a spot paint to level it, then re-stripe over. It would've been invisible under the striping anyway. Anyway, I ended up paying $1500 for a paint correction and re striping at 631 coatings in farmingdale. Those guys are awesome. Please go there for any paint or wrap, or striping needs. This place doesn't do striping or paint well, and I now know better, but they should've told me that right off the bat. Im a helicopter pilot by trade, I wouldn't tell someone I can fly their multi engine plane just fine without at least telling them, "not my specialty but I can try if you want". I'm sure this place can take a dent out of a Toyota just fine, but if you care about your car, go somewhere else, where they care too. read more

Guy trued is best to help me out. He couldn't fix my specific issue but did what he could. I had an issue with my headlights not being able to see and my wheel well plastic was falling apart. He didn't fix the led but referred me to a great place and got me wheel well fix. 100% the place to go for honest work from an honest mechanic. I recently bought a used car that might as well be new and decided to use Smithtown Auto Body to complete my CARCO photo inspection for my insurance. I had a fine experience while in the building but the photos and receipt were never sent over to my insurance. I'm giving 2 stars because this caused my collision and comprehensive coverage to be suspended for about a week. Luckily all I had to do was email the receipt to my insurance company, but it could have turned out much worse for me had anything occurred during that time without physical damage coverage. read more

I have used Smithtown Auto Body twice so far. First time for my daughters Jeep Liberty that got hit in the school parking lot. They replaced the rear bumper and matched the paint perfectly. They even buffed out some scratches on the front bumper with out even charging me. Second time was for my other daughters Kia Forte. She got T-boned and had pretty significant damage. Eddie and his staff were super helpful in guiding me with all the insurance stuff. It took a few weeks to get the parts in but in the end the car was BRAND NEW. I brought my car to Smithtown Auto Body to remove the dents and scratches, compound the car, and wax it. Well, in one day's time, they made the car look like new. I've used Smithtown Auto Body for repairs several times during the past few years. I've found them to be excellent and honest. Eddie listens to what you are saying and tries -- and succeeds -- in getting your vehicle repaired and back to you in the time he said it would take. There have been a few occasions where my car insurance company directed me to other autobody repair shops in the area with which they have contracts and the results were NEVER as good as they were when I used Smithtown Auto Body on my own. Here's one horror story: My insurance company at the time directed me to a repair shop operating out of King O'Rourke, which took a week longer to fix my car than originally promised. Finally, the day came when I was to pick up my car. I got a frantic call from the manager, telling me an accident had occurred. On the very day I was to get my car, someone backed into the front passenger door. Incompetence! If you have a choice of which shop to use, go to Smithtown Auto Body.
