Took my Honda for an oil change and inspection. Dennis and his team were extremely fast an efficient. I am happy I was referred to them. I live a bit further away and pass a bunch if different shops prior to getting to them but they solidified me as a customer. read more

I was a loyal senior customer of A & R Auto in Smithtown for years and referred friends and family because I trusted them. I had made an appointment for an oil change using a VALID coupon that was advertised on their website and Facebook. When I arrived, I was told they would not honor the valid advertised price because their website hadn't been updated, and they wanted to charge me an additional $20. I was trying to explain in a calm manner why this VIOLATES federal laws like the Federal Trade Commission Act. I was truly shocked that a small business like this was so unaware of basic business practices. When I questioned why I should have to pay more because of an error on their website, the conversation turned into a heated argument. I explained that customers shouldn't be penalized for a business's failure to update its advertised pricing. I asked to speak to the owner and instead a male employee came out to yell at me when I attempted to explain how this could be misconstrued as a Bait & Switch tactic. They eventually agreed to honor the coupon, but then told me to "never come back." After years of being a loyal customer and referring friends and family, I found the entire experience horrific and unprofessional. Businesses make mistakes, but how they handle those mistakes--and how they treat loyal customers--matters. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I can no longer recommend A & R Auto, BUYER BEWARE read more

These are do an awesome job. They are very thorough and do quality clean work. I recommend them highly for your next auto repair, tire replacement or inspection read more

Unfortunately these folks totally missed the mark with their inspection of a skoolie I was buying from a private seller. They completed the inspection a day prior to my arrival and prior to me seeing the vehicle in person. They understood that I was flying to New York to purchase the bus and would be driving it back to Nevada. Their summary report indicated that the horn was not working and the mounts for the engine and transmission were breaking. Mounts are pretty critical, but an easy fix with the right equipment. Upon my personal inspection, I discovered that the horn was simply unplugged. I completed a break test to see how bad the engine mount was, and there was no movement. I did ask to have the mechanic show me the broken mounts, but they declined because they were busy and to come back another day. (It takes a lift, so I understood). They quoted to fix both mounts for over $700 which is very high ...so, between no engine movement with the break test, the high quote and the horn being unplugged, I declined any additional service from them. The mounts were inspected by another shop and both mounts were found to be fine.... makes me glad that I went somewhere else instead. read more

I presented my 2000 Toyota Avalon XL 240K miles to my sister Irene. My car had never given me problems, I changed oil every 3K miles, brake pads and other parts when necessary. My car was detailly inspected the same day before I delivered it to my sister. I have driven a car to my sister (about 90 miles) without any problem. They registered a car and went for inspection to A&R Auto Repair. A&R Auto Repair requested to change rear struts before they can give an inspection and charged more than $700 for this job. Car was overheated 1 mile after left A&R shop. Car was delivered in another shop and by its mechanics conclusion cool fans sensor was intentionally broken. Car overheat costs me another $700. I am planning to send a strong complain to DMV. Don't come close to these deceivers!!!!! read more

The best! They are credible, reliable, communicative, friendly, and trust worthy. Parking may be a tad crazy, but I suggest going through the side of Los Azules restaurant that is next door to avoid traffic. They will even reach out post visit to ensure you vehicle is in great condition and if you have any additional questions. Huge plus is customer service, they won't make you feel heckled and truly make you feel like a trust worthy relative is fixing your car. read more

Professional, clean, and on top of everything! Everyone is friendly and helpful, and they got me in and out really fast. I'm so happy as a loyal Jaxson's Auto customer, to know that the merge between Jaxson's and A&R did not affect the quality of the work or of the customer experience. I wish I could give more than 5 stars. So happy to be an A&R customer! read more

Honest, reliable and prompt service on out Ford Edge! Look forward to continuing business with them and keeping our car in good hands.

My wife's Jeep Liberty was giving us major issues while steering/driving so we took them to our local shop A&R. I made an appointment online for 2pm the next day and received a message early that morning letting me know I could bring my vehicle in much sooner which was the first part of what would be an awesome experience. They let me know in no time at all what was wrong in detail, how much it would be and how long. It was the easiest experience I have had. They got everything fixed up in 1 DAY! including oil change, checked fluids and PSI, even though I forgot to ask them. Jeep runs amazing, better than even before and will continue to bring my vehicles to them. Dennis, Joe and the whole team are awesome and so pleasant to interact with. Do not hesitate to give these guys a call and make an appointment. They will not shotgun parts at you or give you endless quotes before looking at the vehicle. Also, on top of all of that, for all the work they did the price was unbelievable! Thank you for keeping us safe! read more

I am so glad I've found a reliable, honest repair shop. I've always taken my car to Subaru for any repairs or oil changes. But wanted to try local businesses to save some money. Doris was so pleasant on the phone and even though Dennis (owner) looked super busy he took the time to check my car and explain to me what I needed. He referred me to a transmission repair shop that would probably have the part. Dennis was professional, friendly, and honest... No repair and no charge. This will be my preferred shop for future oil changes or repair needs. read more

Bad news. They moved all the way to Smithtown. Good news. They fix cars as good as anyone out there! Went all the way from North Babylon to them. They are honest, not pushy at all, and they fix your car very well. My Suzuki had a bad A/C, bad exhaust pipe, it's been almost 2 weeks and still going. Doris and Dennis are great. Thank you guys! read more

I brought my car in for an oil change. I made an appointment with A & R a few days in advance. When I arrived, I was greeted by name and taken immediately. Very pleasant and professional. There shouldn't be any drama when having an oil change and there wasn't. I recommend A&R to anyone who needs work done on their car without aggravation. read more

My 2009 Nissan Rogue was having some serious issues. I was not sure where to bring my car having just moved to the area recently, however a quick search online showed some great reviews for A & R Alignment and Auto Repair. I brought my car there and was satisfied from the moment I walked in the door. Dorris at the front desk was extremely kind and welcoming and made me feel as if I chose the right place even before I knew what was wrong with my car. Dennis called me that same day to explain what my car needed. He was very professional and took his time to go over the issues with my car. Turned out there was a problem with the drive shaft and brakes among other things. Even though my car needed a lot of work and parts had to be ordered it was ready for pick up just two days after I dropped it off. The whole process couldn't have been smoother. This place is easily the best repair shop I've ever brought any of my cars! read more

Beware, Beware, Beware!!! The new owners (from Pep Boys) tried to rip me off for $1,700. Their shop is next door to my business so I figured I would give my new neighbors some work. Simple job, my A/C was blowing hot air, figured I needed a charge of Freon. I get a call from 1 of the new owners who told me that I needed a new AC compressor & the cost to repair would be $1,700. Never thinking that this diagnosis was false, I went to another local shop to get another price estimate. This mechanic looked at the compressor for a second and told me that the A/C clutch was missing. The A/C clutch is a metal electromagnetic pully mechanism that probably spins at 3000 RPM. If it was to come off while driving I would've heard a big boom & it could've put a hole in my hood. I told this mechanic that I originally went to A & R Auto Repair to have the A/C checked out. With disbelief he told me to go back to A & R Auto to see if they removed it from the car. Sure enough, I went back to A & R to ask about the A/C clutch and 1 of the new owners handed it back to me off his work bench. He told me that he found it lying on my engine mount. Think about that, a metal pully spinning at 3000 RPM's magically resting neatly on the engine mount, I think not. My A/C wasn't working for almost a week, so this magic A/C clutch stayed on the mount for all that time. Yea OK!! Even if this did happen (ha) why wouldn't A & R reassemble it back on to the car & really see if I needed a new A/C compressor for $1,700. The honest mechanic told me that my A/C clutch had no nicks or dents on it, (he said it looked almost new), he reinstalled it onto car, checked the A/C compressor (which was fine) & gave me a charge of Freon. A/C works great; I never needed the $1,700 compressor. And they had the audacity to charge me $40 to fraudulently diagnosis the problem. Total cost from an honest mechanic was $300 which included around $150 to reinstall the A/C clutch that they removed. I will be sending an official complaint report (VS-35) to NYS DMV. All the goodwill that the old owner accumulated over the years will be gone by these 2 a$%$&. To physically remove a part of the engine in an effort to upsell a person on a repair that is not needed is outrageous, if not criminal. Go onto the Consumer Affairs website & do a search on Pep Boys A/C repairs. These 2 new owners learned their craft well from their time at Pep Boys.
