Went to use them for a uhaul rental and they said the vehicle had a full tank of when in fact it had 3/4 of a tank. Owner refused to honor this and printed out paper stating that vehicle had a full tank of gas. He also printed that there was no damage to vehicle when sides where all scuffed. If this is how he handles uhaul rentals, I can not imagine how he does business work his transimission company. Buyer beware!!!! read more

In the process of performing a brake job on Jeep Renegade, Mike ruined the threads on one front wheel hub, broke a repair tap in one hole, then felt that I should pay him $600 plus to install a new hub. My car left there with only 3 lug bolts holding the front wheel on and couldn't pass NYS inspection. I contacted my Geico mechanical breakdown insurance and they refused to cover the repair, telling me that it was incompetence and not part breakdown. The cost of repair came out of my pocket. If a repair shop can't put a wheel back onto a car, I won't trust them to replace the hub. read more

I recently had a surprise transmission failure on my 05 GMC Yukon XL immediately after having a pair of new tires installed elsewhere. When they were going to take it for a test drive, the transmission went right in the lot. I was to say the least, very worried about getting my truck fixed and the cost. I immediately called Trannyman and spoke with Mike. He said to bring the truck right down and they will take a look at it. Luckily, I was so able to drive it in forward, I lost the reverse and the drive was starting to hum as well. I got the truck to them just before closing on Monday 12/28. Mike and Lee were very nice and reassuring that it will get fixed and not to worry. They started on the repair Tuesday and I was able to get the truck back on Wednesday at 3. Talk about being fast, I never expected to have my truck back this fast. When I fit there, they showed me all the pasta that are replaced and explained everything to me that was done. I took it for a test ride, and it was like a brand new truck, running quiet and shifting very smoothly. Thank you Mike and Lee for making a major job seem simple and quick. You guys got the job done fast and for a price that was well worth it. Now I hope that I never have to see you again for another repair, just for fluid changes. ...haha! Problems from the "get go" One word "Shady" ---- I agreed to the "extra parts" that didn't come with the total rebuild. ---- [Read that line again] ---- $1,976.98 became $2628.94 [Total charge] on 1/19/18 ----- Plus Trannyman charged me ~$75.00 dollars [he said he wasn't making any money on it] for a 02 Sensor that could have been simply unplugged - I had that sensor at home because AFTER the Transmission work I was replacing the entire exhaust "cats" and everything. My cost on all three sensors? $75 --- so how can I buy all three sensors, for the same price of his one? He blamed it on his "parts guy". Please stop... Not long after, my [total rebuild w/ extra parts] Ford Ranger 5E55E Transmission stopped dead in its tracks. After "nursing it" home [adding fluid until it got me home] - Trannyman's advice was to have it towed to shop... cost $92.33 --- what did he find? nothing... Not long after Transmission stopped working again. Trannyman replaced [valve body solenoid] which was an intermittent problem that he couldn't find [see above towing/diagnostic charge] 1 1/2 year later ---- Massive Transmission problem - gonna need a complete rebuild --- I think i'll bring it to Tap-It Transmission in Deer Park read more

Having your transmission go can never be a good thing... the thought of how much it's going to cost and the fact that I'm a woman and being taken advantage of can be over whelming. Well Mike at Trannyman took all those fears away. I pulled in just to get an estimate (which was free). Mike was very reassuring that it was worth putting a new transmission in and that the car would run like brand new...since I'm giving the car to my daughter who is a brand new driver... that put my mind at ease. Believe me when you have a Transmission problem and you don't know where to go it can be very scary. I had a transmission problem tranny slipping bad i took it to Mike and he is honest as you get told me will have truck back in 3 Days and got it back in 3 days.Also said to bring it back within a Month to make sure i was happy and to check fluid which i did he check it and test drove it and check fluid 15 minutes there no charge. and have 1 year 12,000 miles warranty which ever comes first. DO NOT TRUST THIS GUY! Yes he smiles and seems nice at first. I had my transmission rebuilt on my 2005 Honda Accord and they are supposed to remove the engine exhaust pipe to get to the transmission.. but instead of doing it the proper way and removing the exhaust pipe he made a poor quality temporary makeshift cut on the exhaust and even used some sort of plumbers putty to fill the gaps! And I would have never known about it but I started smelling exhaust fumes and brought to my mechanic who told me this could have been a dangerous situation and had to replace my exhaust pipe because he took the shortcut way and cut it instead of removing it! I very rarely write a review but do appreciate reading them. After my experience with Trannyman of Smithtown, I felt I needed to write one. I was at the DMV and was told that I needed to get an inspection in order to finish what I went there for. I used to live in the area, so I headed to one of the chain locations that I knew did inspections but they were unable to accommodate me that day. I continued down the road and noticed an inspection sign on this establishment named Trannyman Complete Auto Care. I went in and this man named Mike, who happens to be the owner, kindly greeted me and said that he would be able to do the inspection. They have a sitting area, so I was able to wait. Unfortunately, I failed the inspection due to the fact that I needed tires, which Mike graciously took the time to explain and show me why I needed new tires. He said he would look into getting me a price on the new tires, something that would be compatible with what I had. He called me back that day and gave me a price that was very reasonable! I just got my new tires put on and my inspection. I am so grateful to have found this place. It's not easy to find an auto mechanic that is knowledgeable, reliable, affordable, honest and willing to go out of his way. Especially when you are a woman. Great customer service! Will definitely come back to service my car here and will also refer them! The fact that it's a complete auto care shop with great hours 8a-6p and are also open on Sat 8a-1p is a bonus! In my business, mistakes happen. Not every job is done flawless. But if I ever make a mistake on someone's roof, there's no doubt I'd go back and do everything I could to iron out the issue because that is someone's home. Same should go for a person's vehicle. It is their livelihood, their means of getting around, and in my case my way of making a living. I brought my truck in last April and had my transmission "rebuilt". About a month or so later it started to slip. Not every time I drove it, but it happened almost every day. For a year it gradually got worse and worse and I kept bringing it back and informed them that something was wrong. Aside from a 5 min test drive here or there, Mike the owner showed little to no interest in repairing or even looking to see what the issue was. Finally, last month he got tired of hearing about it and said "welp, your warranty is up anyways so obviously there is nothing I can do for you", word..for...word! I was beyond furious and astonished to even reply to it. If you know what is good for you, keep your vehicle far far away from trannyman. I know I will. Doesn't even deserve a star.... read more
