We've come back over the years, and Bobbie's never disappoints. It's one our must go to stops when we come to Kauai. Had the huli and katsu (#12) and the pulled pork sandwich today. The sandwich was eaten before I could get a pic...that's how good it is. Always welcomed liked ohana when you come to Bobbie's. Make it one of your places on your way to Waimea...you will be happy you did.
Mahalo Bobbie! Really enjoyed the shops in Hanapepe! Cute town! And Bobbie's was a great find after visiting Waimea Canyon! I think we ordered the #9 - Korean chicken and tempura shrimp combo with Mac salad! Mmmm It was definitely for 2 of us to share but still had to order extra Mac of course!!! Auntie was very nice and helpful. Food didn't take long at all!
Classic plate lunch spot that gives you generous portion. I loved their Korean fried chicken it tasted similar to the ones form zippys. The roasted pork was sooo good too. If you're hungry for some plate lunch, go try their Korean chicken and roast pork! Ample parking on the street and there are tables and chairs where you can dine in inside & outside the place.
Best meal I've had since I got to Kauai. Portions are generous, everything tastes amazing, food is out in 10-15 min. There's few parking in front or street parking all around. No public restrooms. 3% fee for credit cards. The menus pretty simple. You have your set combos and a few other offerings. You get rice and also choose a side for plates. The fried Saimin was delicious. The Mac salad was enjoyable. There's a fridge with bottled drinks. There's 4 tables with 4 seats each. I'd return here and get the same plates.
Bobbie's is amazing! authentic and so well seasoned! Don't skip on the Ahi special if they have it! It's incredible! Best plate lunch we've had!
So many options such delicious food. They also have new floors amazing. A lot of tourists have mentioned that it's the best food they've had since they've been on island
Admittedly, I believe I should have ordered something different from this place. Although the one staff working at the front was decently friendly, the fish and chips we ordered was not very well done. The amount of fish was incredibly minimal and was mostly batter. On top of that, the fish itself was not very tasty, the batter was slightly overcooked, and the price was higher than I would have expected for the quality received. We stopped in to see the cute little town that is Hanapepe, and although I believe this town is worth a visit, particularly the street that this restaurant is on, I would not recommend ordering fish and chips from this place. Other dishes may be more recommended and wiser to pick if you are stopping in here for a meal.
Bobbie's is full of nostalgia for me; my mom worked at WHS, so when I would go with her to the school, this was my lunch request! I always make it a point to go when I'm on the west side. Food is fresh & delicious. They do get busy, so allow them some time to make your meal perfect. Their Korean chicken & fried saimin is my fav.
Great find for local Hawaiian food in small town called Hanapepe. Walking through the little town, saw all these construction workers sitting outside. First, thought it was a barbershop and realized it's actually a local place with pulled pork sandwiches, local fish, great lunch specials. My number one had the pulled pork sandwich and I had the Cajun Ahi fish special which came with two scoops of rice and a macaroni salad. No restrooms, and the ambience is local so sit outside and don't expect more than one napkin- Bring Cash because they charge a 3% surcharge for credit cards. We definitely will go back for lunch.
Yum!!! I loved the gravy they use on top. I wasn't very hungry when I ordered this, but ended up eating the whole meal. I couldn't put the fork down.
Best meal on the island of Kauai thus far. Order at the counter and then grab a table among the locals. You know this place is awesome if locals eat here. Everything was sooooo good. We just wish it was closer to where we are staying way over in Princeville. It's well worth the drive either way. If you are near here, run, don't walk to the Bobbie's. The chicken was so incredibly tender and flavorful. I want to go back and try the Hulu Hulu chicken and shrimp. The katsu chicken loco moco was heavenly perfection. Also loved the chicken katsu. Yes please, give me more. Reasonable prices as well. It was under $40 for two.

Great place for local hawaiian food if you're in the area. We got the #9 naka's numba nine which was good. Nothing too crazy about the korean flavoring but the fried chicken was perfectly cooked in our opinion. The portions are huge and def sharable. read more

Korean chicken was pretty good, teriyaki was mid and so was the macaroni. Beware there is no restroom or place to wash your hands, they do not serve free water (must purchase a water bottle), and they have you throw your own trash away outside of the restaurant. Plus, they ONLY accept cash or checks. read more

This was the best meal we had while on Kauai. Our lunch was so good that we ordered 2 more plates to take home for dinner on Oahu. My lunch plate was the #2 The Kekaha, which was a hamburger steak, roast pork and sistas fried chicken. There was an option for smoke meat instead of roast pork, which is what I wanted, but she said that there was no smoke meat today (Monday). So I don't know if there's no smoke meat every Monday or not. My wife ordered the teri burger with fries. She said that it was delicious, with so much teri sauce that she needed extra napkins, and the fries were outstanding. The girl said that the fries are beer battered. Our plates that we took home for dinner were, the #3 Da Pakala Surf Pack, which was chiken katsu, teri chicken and roast pork, and the #7 Da Mean Box, which was the Korean fried chicken and roast pork. The Korean fried chicken was a little on the spicey side, but still very good. All of the plates have the option of macaroni salad, toss salad or fried saimin. We chose the fried saimin for all of our plates, and it was very good. read more
Bobbie's was definitely the best hawaiian plate lunch spot in Kauai! Was recommended to go here by the pilot on our tour of the island. I ordered the Korean fried chicken at the recommendation of the cashier who said this is what they are known for. Got pulled pork with gray on top and dry saimin on the side. The gravy was out of this world, pork was very tender and the KFC had a very unique, tasty flavor to it. My boyfriend really enjoyed the country music they were playing so they get extra points for that! read more
Bobbie's is a no nonsense, cash only, Hawaiian BBQ restaurant with traditional plate lunch options. Everything that we ordered was delicious and my favorite was the Korean chicken. The overall texture and crispiness was fantastic. Chicken katsu, loco moco, huli chicken, and teri chicken were all well done. The value was very reasonable and I loved everything about this restaurant. read more
The best meal I ate in Kauai! I ordered the combo with fried Saimin, Korean fried chicken and roasted pork. Everything was so good! It was my first time eating kailua pork with gravy and I must say that combination was spectacular! I couldn't stop telling my babe how good it was. The gravy was good, not the dark and salty kind. The fried chicken was amazing as well but way too spicy for me. I would take a bite and a few seconds later, my mouth was burning. I tried three times before I gave up. That's how good it was! For reference, I'm a wuss when it comes to spicy food. If you love spicy food you would love it! So luckily for my honey, he pretty much had all the chicken to himself. The fried Saimin was pretty good too. I wish I had ordered a whole plate of it. Parking: street parking. We found a space right away Customer service: friendly and prompt. The woman at the Talk Story Bookstore told us to go here for lunch. She sure did point us in the right direction. There was no one else in line so we ordered our lunch right away. I got the Loco Moco with an over hard egg for my Mom and I to split, plus a Coke for me and a Hawaiian Sun for her. My Dad got a combo with a small Saimin and a beef teriyaki sandwich. My Brother got a pulled pork sandwich with fries and a soda. In total our lunch was a little more than ten dollars a person, which wasn't bad. They only take cash and they don't have any restrooms. Our food came pretty quickly. Our Loco Moco was really good. Not the best I've had, but still good. The burger and egg were seasoned and cooked well. The gravy is what put everything together. The gravy is always what makes it. I with they put a little more gravy on it. The mac salad was awesome. It was cool, creamy and refreshing. It was probably the best mac salad I've had on the island. I also tried my Dad's Saimin. The broth was yummy and I loved the slivers of spam. My Brother's fries were super crisp, probably twice fried or with an extra coating. My Brother didn't really like his pulled pork sandwich though. My Dad said the pork was too fatty and the sauce was sweet. Overall an awesome plate lunch. read more
This place was my s.o.'s favorite place to have box lunch on the island. He got the number 7 and I have to say the Korean chicken was very tasty. I got the mini bento loco moco and was very happy. The "mini" was still rather substantial In size and I only almost finished it. The Kaluah pork was almost as good as the pork from our luau the night before (which was the best we had the entire week) and the gravy was excellent. The fact that they offer a "toss" (green salad) instead of macaroni was a blessing to our arteries as well. I was able to get the loco moco with my egg over hard (my favorite). Next time I'll get the kaluah pork instead of the hamburger for my loco moco though. read more

Small no frills place but their food is solid! I ordered the number 9 which is pork and Korean fried chicken. They serve it with rice and a choice of your side. The serving is huge. Cash only though. Also it's a small place so you have to wait for your food. But it's worth it. read more

Cash only. Came here on the arts night and this place had tons of customers which is always a good sign. Ordered Korean chicken and a pulled pork sandwich. The korean chicken was excellent - great texture, flavor, and the red dipping sauce paired with it excellently. The pulled pork sandwich was ok - decent flavor but very messy and fell apart - had to end up eating it with a fork. Korean chicken definitely a winner. read more
This place was really good. After spending a day out in waimea canyon, we ate here on our drive back. Wife had the #7. The fried chicken was a bit fatty to our liking but everything else was great. Including the "carnitas" aka BBQ pork. The plate was actually large enough to splint,but at that time we didn't know so I got a cheeseburger which was surprisingly awesome. read more
This place has the best Korean fried chicken!!!! And their sauces were really good as well. I got a custom plate of Huli chicken and Korean fried chicken, with Mac salad and rice. The Mac salad was okay and I wasn't a huge fan of the huli chicken (which I normally love) this tasted more like chewy teriyaki chicken. I would definitely return for the service in this small restaurant and that Korean chicken! read more

This was my 1st time here.Nice place to eat,Good selection of food n affordable,also the service was good.So I ordered the Surf n Turf for $12.95.It consisted of Teri beef,shrimp tempura n fish tempura.I was dissatisfied.The battered fish was like the store bought one's that comes in the box n the shrimp tempura was like the one's that Cosco sells.I probably won't order this again.My girl friend was satisfied with her plate.She had the Korean chicken n roast pork plate.I will be going back to try there other plates.. read more

I had the Korean fried chicken plate, it comes with rice, fried saimin, and mac salad. I had a few bites of the kalua pork, chicken katsu, and huli huli chicken from the other plates we got. My favorites were the huli huli chicken and the Korean fried chicken. The Korean fried chicken is spicy - something in between mild and medium, too spicy to be mild but not spicy enough to be medium. It seemed to be more crunchy skin and breading than actual chicken though. The huli huli chicken comes with the skin on. The chicken katsu, kalua pork, fried saimin, and Mac salad were equally good. One of the best spots on the whole Island. We stopped here on our way back from Waimea Canyon. It really hit the spot after a long drive and an afternoon full of pictures. I had the #3 Katsu Chicken, Teri Chicken, and bbq pork. All the meat was cooked to perfection with a side of delicious Mac salad. I'd recommend to anyone looking for a good mixed plate read more
High quality food with very friendly staff. The lady working the front could tell it was our first visit and instantly asked us where we were from and what questions we had. She explained the combos and pointed out the local favorites. The combo number 9 ended up being our favorite of the two dishes we ordered. The huli huli was tasty as well but the chicken in the number 9 was outstanding. The Mac salad was great as well as the saimin. Pricing wasn't too crazy and was comparable to the rest of the island. The portions are large so it made it well worth it. Definitely worth the stop if you are in the area! read more

Been here twice now as a tourist, and this place is an excellent stop for lunch. Serving sizes for combos are good if you're a big boy, but can be adequately shared between two as well. The first visit, I shared a #3 "Da Pakala Surf Pack" - with Huli Chix, Kalua Pork, fried saimin. Huli chicken some of the most tender chicken I've had in my life. The chicken comes with skin, that has grill char and smokey-sweet flavor. If you typically don't order chicken in fear of it being overcooked or tough, this place will ease all your fears. Simply amazing, tender chicken. The Kalua pork was nothing special, it was topped with heavy gravy. The second time, I shared a #7 "Da Mean Box". The Korean fried chicken was great. If you're looking for crunchy comfort food, definitely get this. Mildly spicy (but not overly so), sweet/sticky Korean gochujang flavors, and fatty rich flavors oozing out with every bite. The rich flavors blended nicely with a mouthful of the soft white rice. Mac was simple and neutral, good break from the wonderful crunchy chicken. Food is served in standard white styrofoam to-go boxes. Only thing I might change is putting spare utensils out on the counter. Saves customers time with having to wait in line in case they want an extra fork. Five stars though because of the Huli chicken. It's so unbelievably tender and will likely be untouched in my chicken rankings for years to come. read more
Bobbies in Hanapepe Bobbies is a local favorite! They have great food, but beware, you will sweat when you go into this restaurant (as well as most restaurants) They do not have the best seating area, but they have some outdoor tables which we regret not taking. I got the Katsu Chicken that the worker recommended, and it was so good. The chicken was really great and not fatty. It came with a side salad with a viniagrette that my brother in law states is his favorite dressing ever. It also came with shredded chicken and gravy over rice. I great meal and tons of food for the price. read more

I drove through town on a Friday night on the way back from Waimea Canyon. That's Art Night and Bobbie's fires up the barbecue and grills its meats. I ordered a kalbi short rib plate dinner, with mac salad and rice. The ribs were juicy and flavorful and the mac salad was good, as well. The staff was pleasant. I was surprised by their cash-only policy but luckily had some bills in my pocket. read more
The food at Bobbie's was just okay. We were on our way to Waimea Canyon and were looking for somewhere to eat, so I used Yelp to find somewhere with good reviews. Bobbie's came pretty highly recommended and now that I've visited, I think it's because there aren't a whole lot of other options in that particular part of town. There were a few locals eating there when we arrived, which is usually a good sign. The woman taking orders was friendly and helpful. Cash only!! I ordered the chicken katsu with rice and salad and my husband chose Bobbie's burger with macaroni salad. My chicken katsu was dry, dry, dry and a little burnt. I didn't even eat half of it. My husband liked his burger, but the macaroni salad tasted like they dumped an entire cup of salt into it - it was pretty much inedible. Even for him, which doesn't happen like... ever. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here again. If I did, I'd try something completely different to get an idea of why other people like this place. read more
Bobbie's is by far our favorite plate lunch spot on Kauai! It was so good, we went there twice during our week-long stay on the island. We first stopped at this unassuming spot in old Hanapepe town for lunch on our way back from Waimea Canyon. There are probably half a dozen tables inside with folding plastic chairs, plus a few more tables and chairs outside. Exactly the type of minimalist design you had hoped for at your favorite hole-in-the-wall. A nice gentleman (presumably the proprietor?) helped us navigate through the menu. I ordered the Huli Huli chicken plate, which comes with 2 scoops of rice and mac salad (or tossed salad, but why would you do that?). Hubby went with a combo plate of roast pork (it was like pulled pork with gravy on top), Korean fried chicken, a couple of scoops of rice, and fried saimin. Everything was delicious, but the highlights were definitely the Huli Huli chicken and Korean fried chicken. The Huli Huli chicken apparently goes through a 2-day brine, which includes pineapple juice. The result is juicy, tasty chicken with some nice char. If you love the combination of crunchy/sweet/salty/spicy, then the Korean fried chicken is not to be missed. Chunks of chicken are lightly floured, fried, and then toss in this super addicting sweet and slightly spicy sauce. And the hubby was obsessed with their fried saimin--cooked up with bits of bacon and seasoned with dashi. We went back for dinner later that week. Thankfully, they're opened until 8pm on Thursday-Saturday and until 8:30pm on Friday, which is great considering most stores close by 5pm on the island. The hubby went for another combo plate--this one came with about 5 lbs of food including roast pork, Huli Huli chicken, katsu, and fried saimin. Of course, I had to go with the Korean fried chicken plate. Again, we devoured the food (I'd probably ditch the katsu next time because it wasn't nearly as good as everything else). The portions are generous, especially the combo plates, but why share when you can't get this plate lunch this good on the mainland? There's not a whole lot to see in Hanapepe, but Bobbie's serves ono grinds that makes you want to move to Kauai. Oh, and it's cash only! read more

This place probably has the best Hawaiian Barbecue on this island. I got the Huli Huli Chicken & the Katsu Chicken plate. Food: so fresh, and delicious, if I want Hawaiian Bbq, this js the spot. The huli huli is a nice tasting chicken and the Katsu is crispy and fried to perfection. They both come with rice and a cold macaroni salad (so basically mac & cheese but cold). Service & Ambiance: Nice & Local people working here, just like most places in Kauai this is small business, nothing fancy. You could walk in here with sand on your toes. Price: pretty good, each plate is around $10 for a full meal, but they only take cash! read more
