I was shopping around for a new stylist, and Bob and Page is near where I live. I was booked with Tony for highlights and a cut. He only did the very top of my head, which was done as a partial, and then the cut, which lasted less than 5 minutes. When I went to pay for it, the bill was over $400. I was in shock, but I did not want to create a scene, so I just paid for it and left. one thing in life i can't stand is being ripped off especially someone who has no education. I ended up canceling my second appointment because when I came to my senses and thought about the whole experience, I realized I could not subject myself to an overpriced haircut. who makes that kind of money, i was an ICU RN and didn't come close to making that kind of money. what has happened to our world were a hairdresser makes that kind of money ! i can assure you i will not be back to this salon ever !! read more

I have been frequenting this establishment for a few years now. Today I asked to be blonde. I got foils instead and my hair is still brown. I asked for specific haircut and got nothing like the picture that I brought. If what I ask for is impossible then tell me...don't colour and cut my hair for over $400 take my money and think that this is ok. This is the worst colour and cut in over 20 years. Expensive and substandard! The owner Frank cut my hair. He did a lot of talking around why he was cutting a style that I specifically asked him not to do IE: " please don't cut around me ears" but he did anyway. I wanted to grow it in a certain direction of style, which I communicated. Yet I ended up with a simple, generic dude cut ( slightly dated looking ) that was almost $80.00!!!!!!!!!! REALLY? When you walk into a salon of that price point, one would expect the artists to have a certain vocabulary of skill-set of styles that he can execute. Super disappointed. So, I recently tried out Bob + Paige and am officially a fan. All the staff are most welcoming - and a shout out for Ethan, who got me hooked up with Frank to cut my hair. (Note - I specifically asked for a senior stylist). When you arrive, the ask you if you would like a coffee (espresso, latte), or they have fruit water. The shampoo was really great -- wonderful head massage! So we get to Frank, who is just really a nice chap! Basically I went to the same hairstylist for many years, and he retired... so I was on the hunt for someone new. Frank took the time to get to know me first, asked me lots of questions, and I had some pics (ideas of what I wanted). Anyway, end of the day -- he nailed it - spot ON! ...and best of all -- soooo easy for me to look after and managed - exactly what I asked for. I am able to make it come out just like Frank did! The salon was super accommodating with my complaint (see photos for how bad it was), and within 48 hours I was booked in for a correction. The stylist I had started blaming one of the assistants, telling me she saw him doing something to my hair she didn't like. If that's the case, why didn't she talk to him right then and there and take corrective action to rectify the situation? At the end of the day, she went back in with brown lowlites to even out the colour. I wasn't happy still with the first round, so she went in again and the second time I was content enough to accept it. I was still unhappy, but just wanted it to be done and move on. read more

I really regret coming here. First the good...it's a great space, the reception is friendly, good coffee and I didn't have to wait long. The bad news...ORANGE HAIR. my horrible head of highlights and colour :( . Connor was recommended to me as someone who is experienced with blondes. I checked out his Instagram feed and saw he had posted a few exceptional pics of cool blondes, just what I was looking for! the warm/brassy tones come out quite easily in my hair and I really hate it. So I booked an appointment (my first) and was very explicit to Connor...please please please do NOT bring out the warm tones! Even showed him his own work on Instagram on what I wanted. He seemed to get it, was friendly etc. With the highlights and the colour it came out a ditchwater brown :(. Even the blonde I liked that I used to have from previous colourist at Civello was completely gone. I felt shy booking a second appointment to fix, but it cost me over $200 dollars. The 2nd time in a week later, he was cold, stuck some toner in my hair, sold me some shampoo for silver hair and that's it. Now I would describe my hair as strawberry blonde to red :( :( it was a really important week for me...I was going to get my head shots done, but had to postpone because I'm a copperhead. From his social media pages I'm guessing Connor is an accomplished colourist. But if you're a blonde like me, who worries about going brassy, in spite of his cool blonde Instagram posts, buyer beware, Connor is NOT the colourist for you. I went to this salon just before the Christmas holiday. Essentially I walked out of the salon with the same hair I walked in with, and left $250 poorer. Really a disappointing experience which goes to show that paying more (and too much) doesn't mean better. I wanted to lighten up my hair, but was told it would have to be gradual. I got partial highlights which made my hair orange-like then quickly faded back to original dark colour. Plus I asked for some long layers with my cut and got all one length. It's important for me to have a stylist and staff to do more listening than talking. Thank goodness I recently went back to an old stylist who gave me what I ask for with absolutely no problems. I give bob + paige salon 5 stars for their exceptional service, and I give myself 1 star for being an awful client. I called bob + paige the day of, requesting for a haircut. They were extremely busy before the holiday season, but they were gracious enough to fit me in anyway. Due to the terrible weather, I arrived 15 mins late for my appointment. I was afraid that the service that I will be receiving will be rushed, but it wasn't. My jacket was taken, my purse was hung up in front of my chair and my hair was thoroughly washed. I was offered a drink and Jenna took her sweet time with my hair. Jenna is amazing and really didn't try to tell me how my hair should be cut. She listened to my typical hair routine and offered different options. I especially liked that she didn't add too many layers to my thick hair, because I like to braid it and I don't like uneven hair sticking out the sides of my braid. Okay, so after this amazing service, I was again a terrible client. I forgot my wallet! Ethan, the receptionist was so flexible he said that I could go home to get it and come back or give him a credit card number over the phone. Disappointed after visiting Joey. He seemed unsure on how to cut curly hair, and the result was a massive disappointment. He cut actress the curls and I am left with a limp and significantly lopsided mess. When I expressed my dissatisfaction and requested if a more senior/experienced stylist was available to fix I was told nothing was available until the new year. Also no apologies were given. I have tried many hair salons in my life, and this is probably the best. Frank (co-owner of the salon) really knows his craft, and how to run a great business. He can either be attentive and listen to what kind of style you want, and make suggestions based on your face structure and style, or, as I usually liked to do, you can just tell him to do whatever he thinks will look good, and it will turn out amazing every time. Frank has a great demeanour, and genuinely listens to what your saying, takes interest, and remembers conversations you had in past visits. He also remembers previous hair styles you've had, what works and what doesn't. Also, Frank and his team are always ahead of the curve when it comes to hair styles. He will give you a hair cut that will become popular 6 months - 1 year later. This is something that no other salon has been able to do, and is really quite impressive. This makes me think that Bob & Paige is a trend setter in hair styles in the city of Toronto. Frank & Violet pay attention to detail: try a hair cut at Bob & Paige salon, and tell me that you won't melt into your chair when you get a hair wash that doubles as a head massage. The salon looks itself looks amazing. Frank and Violet have a real eye for interior design (or at least a talent for picking great interior designers). It is bright, spacious, and relaxing. There is always great, upbeat music playing that adds to the atmosphere. I've only ever had my hair cut by Frank, but it is clear that he has a real talent for training staff. In my years of going to this salon, I have seen hair stylists improve their craft markedly. You can be sure that no matter who cuts your hair at Bob & Paige that you will be satisfied. I am a bit tardy doing a review since today was my 4th visit. This salon is wonderful in every way. Everyone is relaxed and friendly. My cut and color always comes out amazing (thanks Frank). Best head massages. I just have nothing bad to say. I have gone for years to a couple of salons in Yorkville, and Bob and Paige is way better. Hands down. One of my big fears is getting a bad cut. I had an absolutely terrible dye job done at another salon which left me with damaged, bleached hair that was suppose to be red but turned out more peach than anything. Working on the Danforth, I became familiar with the wonderful work they did and decided if anyone could fix the mess on top of my head, it was them. I went in for a consultation and they booked me in a week later with Megan. She was absolutely delightful (as everyone was there) and did a killer job tending to my disaster. After 4 hours, and a couple complimentary lattes, my hair was perfect and I couldn't be happier. I've washed my hair a handful of times since then and the red is still bright as ever. With their quality products and care to detail, I'm relieved that I don't have to worry about my colour fading any time soon! read more

I'm finally writing a review after seeing several similar comments matching my own experience. $300 is way too much to pay for the services received and the amount of time allotted to perform them. I agreed to highlights, strongly mentioning that I didn't want anything brassy. Orange is definitely brassy. I also didn't like having the highlights done consecutively with a root touch-up. Finish one job first. It really felt like a factory-line assembly in a race against time. The root touch-up on my dark colour was too light and also brassy, either wrong colour or not left on long enough. The cut was okay-ish, nothing that I would repeat. Two stars.... "Meh. My first time to the salon after losing my hair stylist. The service was great but I was so disappointed with my haircut. I'm 24 and felt like I was given a "mom" cut. I called and spoke to the manager and she told me to come and the same stylist would fix it up. I told her I was concerned my natural waves looked flat, it needed to be thinned out around my face and given some more shape. I thanked her so much for seeing me again and told her how much I appreciated it. She basically took five minutes to cut around my face and didn't bother to fix anything else. I hate my hair and now have to find another salon and have a whole new cut done. I was hoping the manager would come by and see how things were but she never did. I never met the manager. I went here April 8 after a friend recommended it. I had an appointment with Alisha (junior stylist) with high expectations after all the reviews I read on bob&paige. I told her about my poor experiences and what I was looking to get done before I leave on my vacation (ombre from brown to blonde ends). She was a great listener but not the greatest doer. I ended up leaving with the same hair color I came in with except for an added color of brown on my bangs. The color of my hair didn't even change. I expressed how disappointed I was multiple times and all she said was it will get lighter during my vacation and to add lime and sit in the sun - I CAME IN THERE TO PAY HER TO DO THE JOB.. IF I WANTED THE SUN TO DO IT I WOULD HAVE DONE IT MYSELF. So again I told her there's no difference in my hair.. She brushed it off and got me to pay $124 for nothing. The only reason I even gave them 1 star is for Nick. He was the only amazing experience I had in there and all he did was wash and dry my hair.. But even he knew I wasn't happy and didn't do anything. This place is talked about like their the place to go to. Maybe the other stylists are good.. But overall my experience was bad and I will be only sharing that with anyone who decides to go there. Extremely busy, hectic place -- great for the owners but not the least bit relaxing for the client (don't people want to de-stress when they have their hair done?) One guy asked me 4 times, in the span of 5 minutes, if I wanted a drink. After the 3rd "No, thanks", I wondered if he had even bothered to look at my face, or perhaps I'm just incredibly easy to forget. Then there was the cut. After showing the stylist a picture, explaining in detail what I wanted, and imploring her not to cut it too short ... well, you can see where I'm going here, right? I just moved here from LA and I was nervous about finding a new hairdresser. I went to see Ksenia at the Bob & Paige Salon and she was great! Very friendly and warm. I saw her for a blow-out and she asked me specific style questions so that I got exactly the kind of blow-out I wanted: lots of volume and bounce. I'm so not happy with this place I called 8 times to try and get an appointment and not once did they pick up the phone I left messages and then finally drove there to make sure they were still in business !! When I got there, reception was sitting right next to the phone and I asked why no one was pick up the phone and she said no one called I opened my cell phone and showed her all the times I called and then I called right there in front of her and the phone rang just fine! After driving all the way there there was no appointments until Thursday but she informed me there was lots of cancellations this morning which if they would have picked up the phone or called me back I could have had and so she said she could put me on the wait list for today which I took assuming after all I went through I would get a call but I have not ! This is a terrible first impression of a place of business and for someone who owns two businesses I would NEVER treat a new or old client like this !! The first time I visited this salon I was pretty happy with my experience. Nicole was friendly and professional and did a nice job with my hair (colour and cut). So I returned for a second visit and they for me in for a colour on short notice which I appreciate. Nicole did a good job, but apparently the salon was "short-staffed" (or overbooked by the looks of it) and after having my colour washed out I was given a brush and blow dryer and told I would have to blow dry my own hair. The girl was nice and apologetic about it but when I pay $120 for a colour and spend 2+ hours at a salon, I find it more than a bit tacky to have to blow dry and style my own hair. She did mumble something about how I wasn't scheduled for a blow dry but if that's the case they might want to mention it to their clients when they book. For the price I paid I still think it's pretty absurd to not have it included and to not have it done. I've never had that ever happen before and I get my hair done maybe 3-4 times a year so I was pretty disappointed with the experience. With so many salons in Toronto, it's unlikely I will return to this one. read more

I have been looking for a good salon in Toronto after moving here from Markham. I tried a few other salons and just didn't feel comfortable in any of them. I decided to try Bob + Paige strictly because of the great reviews and the name, to be honest! The salon is cool and funky and the staff is extremely friendly. I was booked with Tony and I found him to be very easy to talk to and I really appreciated the time he spent with me before he washed my hair. He looked at my hair and the pictures I brought and offered suggestions and really took an interest in what I had to say. This was the only time I have ever left a salon, after paying over $200 for highlights with soaking wet hair. I was booked with Alisha, who did my highlights, then handed over to Nick who touched up my roots, shampooed and toned my hair. I have no complaints about Nick, he was very nice, gave me a great scalp massage, and did a good job touching up my roots. Alisha took over from Nick after he was done, toned my hair further, and escorted me to a chair. She blowdried a 1 inch thick section of my hair in the front so I could see the highlights. I couldn't, she toned my hair too dark, and I told her so, she said that it would lighten further in the sun, and/or after 7 to 10 washes ( so what am I paying for??) , and basically gave me the rush out of the Salon. I asked her to dry my hair so I could actually see the color, and she brought me a diffuser so I could dry my own hair. I asked to be dried again, and she said she had no time to do it, and I would have to book a blowdry. So I towel dried my own hair and left with soaking wet hair into a snowstorm. This is the most bizarre lack of service ever. When I called to complain, the manager Sasha told me that most of their clients prefer to dry their own hair. REALLY?? People pay to come to high priced salon, pay money to dry their own hair?? Although Sasha the manager offered me a free service if I came back, nothing she told me on the phone would inspire me to go back. Styling the hair after a cut or color is too much effort for the stylists here. I could get better service at Supercuts!! Bob and Paige Salon is a huge waste of money. Bear with me cuz this will be a long review rather a story. I was looking at my hair in the mirror this afternoon. It has been almost 4 months after my last hair cut with Frank. It is a short bob and I love it now more than the first day. This is how often you get cut. Every four months. My hair grows slowly. It is tick and dark and it is lot of hair. With this kind of hair most hair stylists have difficult time to deliver short cuts. Not Frank, he delivers without cutting through too much. I told him I'm busy and I won't blow dry in summers and he delivers. I hate polished looks and perfectly sharp looks and he delivers the right amount of out of order. People see and think you got a good blow dry. No, you didn't. You got a good cut 4 months ago. That is how I like it. That is why I got so excited about my hair this Sunday afternoon that I wrote this after being the client for years. When you found what is right for you, you get excited about it. read more
