Every now and then in life, I meet someone who is what I call a true healer. Someone who has a level of expertise and passion and commitment that is rare and completely stands out. Bob is one of those professionals, and I'd give him 10 stars if I could.
He is one of the very best PTs I've ever worked with. I have had a lot of PT through the years for various injuries (foot, ankle) and for back and neck and sciatica issues due to having a job where I sit too much. I've seen and done PT with more than 12 PTs through my adult years at this point, and I can spot a brilliant PT as I have worked with PTs of all levels. Bob is brilliant-- truly gifted in his field. His expertise is obvious. His knowledge of physiology and body systems and how it's all tied together is quite unusual and I think what makes his therapies so effective. He isn't just looking at one part of the body, he ties it all together and figures out the root of the problem in the body and then does all kinds of movements and hands-on manipulation to unlock what is keeping the body from functioning properly.
I saw him at the recommendation of my brother-in-law and I was seeking PT because of a lot of pain in neck and back and what felt like pinched nerve(s). I was barely sleeping at night because of the pain, and had been popping Tylenol and Advil for days (which I rarely take).
When I saw Bob, I was in a lot of pain and very inflamed. He did an extensive intake and history. He took everything I told him seriously and I could see the wheels turning in his head as he was trying to figure out the source of the problems and how to address them.
Then we did about 75 minutes of hands-on therapies of all types. He is so committed to working on your body that he actually was almost sweating at times from the level of manipulation he was doing. It wasn't painful, but I could tell it was moving things and unlocking some significant knots and muscles and nerves that were misaligned and not functioning properly.
After literally this one session, my pain had greatly reduced and my range of motion was about 60% better. What surprised me the most was how he targeted spots in the neck, mid back, lower back and also my hips and skull/jaw --- and it all was tied together although I hadn't realized it.
The days that followed: the first 24 hours I was a bit sore and then the soreness went away and I found that about 50% of my painful symptoms had gone away. I have never had a result like that before from one intensive PT session. It blows my mind that someone can be that effective.
I intend to see him every time I am in the Bay Area, even if I have to fly and then drive an hour to get to him for an appointment. Am happy to pay out of pocket if I need to for these services -- he is worth every penny and then some.
If you get an opportunity to work with Bob, take it. read more
