For the most part this is a good restaurant to eat at. The food is usually very good as is the service. Once in a while we run into lousy service - a waitress who can't remember what we ordered is very frustrating. But 90% of the time we have a flawless meal. We have eaten breakfast and lunch there. The sausage gravy is not consistent so that would be our main complaint. They used to sell some great chocolate chip cookies but for some reason those are gone and we wish they would bring them back. We would also like to see more discounts for seniors so we can afford to eat there more often. For a decent meal - Bob Evans is worth the trip. read more

My 7 month old nephew is on the heart transplant list. He is partnered with COTA (Children's Organ Transplant Association). I'm his campaign manager. It's my job to set fundraisers and raise $40,000. Bob Evans has a fundraiser where they set 15% of people's checks to be donated to the cause when it's mentioned at checkout. They were amazing during the fundraiser! The staff was efficient and friendly. The managers were professional and knowledgeable. I can't thank them enough for for their hospitality! We went to the salem Bob Evans for dinner, waited to be seated. We were sat in the back booth section. Waited about 15 min no one acknowledged us. I looked over the wall of the booth, and a waitress said she would get our server. We overheard some conversation and then she said I'll be your waitress. She took our order. Another waitress sat with a man in the back section full uniform and carried on a conversation of all the employees that are leaving. She seemed to be a team leader. It was very annoying to hear this and witness an employee just take advantage, the male companion made a remark that while she's working he's always there. The area was dirty. I hope service improves we like Bob Evans, but may think twice before coming back. read more

In the summer I went with my mom out to eat here, I ordered Chicken Tenders, when the waitress brought them to me, I squeezed it, I even tried chewing one, and it was hard as a rock. When the waitress came over which btw was super nice, I was like look at this, I took the chicken and tapped the plate with it, was so loud just from small taps you could tell it was completely hard. She was like I told you not to order those and she asked me If i wanted something else I said no. I am not cooking expert but if you can't make chicken tenders edible I don't wanna try food that is way harder to cook. Those chicken tenders you could easily break a tooth, they felt hard as a rock. That was last time I ever ate there, and years ago I loved it, but the food just isn't the same anymore. I have ate here multiple times and never really had a problem. However, I ordered the family meal pot roast through their take out/pick up option. I was mortified by the mold on our rolls. There was also nothing n the "pot roast" besides beef and gravy. The discription states carrots were to be included ....DID I MENTION THE ROLLS HAD MOLD! I also ordered the chocolate chip pancakes and sausage. The pancakes only had choclate chips in them, none on top, no powdered sugar,no whip cream, not even a drop of Syrup to be found. The sausage was hard as a rock. I never am one to complain but I just couldn't put up with this, the food was inedible ....a call with the manager resulted in not even an apology or explanation all I was given was a gift card (not even worth half of what I spent on food that got thrown out as soon as the mold was discovered). Gross. I can make a better breakfast with my eyes closed and half-asleep in the morning for less than 1/4 of the price you charge. Ordered a medium fried egg, came out snotty. White part wasn't even cooked. Hash browns were soggy and they need to get rid of those ball canning jars as drink glasses especially if servers don't ever come back to refill them! read more

The best way to judge a restaurant, if they serve breakfast, is how fast they refill your coffee cup. This place is usually pretty cool, but I had to request a refill and it was very slow. My son ordered the deep dish chicken biscuit thing and it had very little broth. He wasn't pleased. Maybe today is just an off day. read more

It's a chain resturant. Same as every other Bob Evans you've been to. I do love thier seasoned breakfast potatoes. But it is an easy go to place, considering the amount of places in Salem to eat. read more

Service is always PAINFULLY slow. We used to come here every once in a while to give it a chance. The waitress we had today was entirely unmotivated. Usually my one request is that my drink be refilled; this was too much to ask. I politely went to the kitchen entryway to ask any wait staff to please help me and fill my drink. I was ignored by the group of waiters/waitresses for a good duration with almost everyone pretending to be unaware and desperately trying to avoid eye contact. Finally when I spoke up, a young waitress (not mine) got me a fresh drink. My waitress "came out of the woodwork" with an attitude, assuring me that she was just about to come do that. I said nothing even though she was obviously trying to get me to say "oh, it's ok!" I made the mistake of coming here on my lunch break. 1 hour and 45 mins later, I'm now left behind schedule. We politely said we were in a bit of a hurry, but that fell on deaf ears. We will not be coming again. read more

I placed my order on line, paid for it also. went and picked it up and had to wait a few minutes, went home and found out the meal I got was to have mashed potatoes and there wasn't any, then I ordered a side of soup and the soup wasn't there also. I called and they said I could come back and get it, they would have it ready, remember I just left the same crew was at the register and told me to wait a minute, about 5 minutes. then someone asked me what i wanted and I explained to them and they got it ready.
