Went to Bobs last week for lunch. Had been there once when it opened and had been passing it by for years. I got the brisket on rye with sweet potato fries. Daughter got a kids burger which is so big 2 kids can easily split it. My brisket sandwich was amazing. Steaming hot and smothered with onions and BBQ sauce that was so delicious. My BF ordered the ribs and 1/2 chicken. I tasted his chicken and it was juicy and delish. His ribs were a little tough but he enjoyed them nonetheless and ate them all. I went here for the first time with a friend a few days ago because I had heard good things from friends. I dont see myself coming back and heres why: I've worked in customer service for over 10 years and I've never experience so much rudeness in an establishment before. First of all the girl at the counter didnt even say hello. MAJOR turn off. She was oogling me and my friend like as if we were an inconvenience to her. Ordered our food and sat down. She brought over our food or should I say "plopped" it down on the table and walked away without saying a word or offering us cutlery. Paid for our food and she dropped all my friends change without giving a fuck. Couldn't get out of there faster. Only reason i'm giving this place 2 stars is because the food was good. When I hear barbeque, I think Texas or Tennessee. Last week if you suggested to me that I should go check out this little joint up in Shrub Oak, NY for some good BBQ, I would've told you that you are out of your mind. This weekend, my boyfriend and I were in the area getting some scheduled service done on his car. Afterwards we check in with his cousins (also in the area) to see if they wanted to grab some food with us. They suggested that we head to Bob-B-Q's, as well as several items on the menu that were for sure not to be missed. We drive over and at first I'm unimpressed. It's a small, unassuming looking place... but don't let that fool you! We ordered the pulled pork sandwich, the smoked brisket rueben, the sweet potato fries, onion rings, and the mac & cheese. Everything was absolutely phenomenal! The sandwiches were huge, juicy, tender, and full of flavor. The sweet potato fries were nice and crunchy on the outside with fantastic sweet potato-y goodness on the inside. The onion rings are made with this great wet batter. The mac and cheese managed to be both really cheesy without being to heavy. FYI, my boyfriend insisted that the combination of the sweet potato fries dipped in the mac and cheese is the greatest thing ever. I'm not sure how I felt about that particular combination, but I took his word for it. The only disappointment? We didn't have enough room to order the cornbread stuffing, roasted garlic mashed potatoes, or the creamed spinach. I guess we'll just have to come back again. read more

First a warning: They do not advertise the fact that they do not accept credit cards except with a little sign on the register that reads "Cash Only," which may come as an unpleasant surprise, especially when the nearest functioning ATM is in a gas station down the street. Now that might not be a big deal for you, but I had two toddlers in tow, so I was a little put off. I won't be casually dropping in to pick up lunch or dinner unless I have enough cash in my pocket, and that's a tall order on my way home from shopping or chores. They should consider how much money they may be losing to this pennywise but pound foolish policy. The Food: The mashed potatoes had great texture and consistency, but they were a little tasteless. I also tried the mac 'n cheese, which wasn't bad, but also not great. Again, the consistency was great, not mushy or overly cheesy, but the flavor came up short. Some mustard seed or a little more salt might help. On the brighter side, the pulled pork sandwich was sublime! The sauce was OK, but the quality of the pork shined through making the sandwich juicy and hearty. They add pickles and mustard slaw to it and that knocks it out of the park. Bottom line: You owe it to yourself to try that pulled pork sandwich, just make sure you have cash on hand. read more

Beef brisket was good, but we had to specify when ordering it without all the cheese and add ons that seems to be the standard. Also the bread that it normally comes on is sandwich bread which seems a little light to hold such a heavy meat. We ordered extra bbq sauce which was a relief because it was a little on the dry side. This was my first time to the Smoke House. After seeing the sign and passing by for many years, I decided it was time to stop in and try the BBQ. I'm delighted I did. It was late afternoon so the place was empty so it would be hard to comment about what arrive would be like during busy business hours. That said, my server was quick. Courteous and kind. The food was delicious! I tried the combination platter (pulled pork and beef brisket) with two sides: chili and cream spinach. The Pien was a little sweeter than I prefer, but I ate it all, hmmm. The cornbread was very tasty, so much so I asked to get two pieces to go. Portions were huge. I probably could eat three small meals or two large meals with the amount of food that came out. Even after reheating in a cast iron pan, the left overs were great. There was a very large selection of tap beer - definitely the place to taste different brews. Why 4 stars? I had wished the meats were a little hotter than they were. Otherwise I'd give 5-stars. Would I return? - definitely with friend and family. read more
