It was really disappointing having to pay $30 for two wraps that were half the size they used to be, one wrap was the Cajun shrimp wrap that might have had 2 total pieces of shrimp that were cut up in slices instead of chunks, and of course the rest of the ingredients were just lettuce, with dressing. The veggie wrap used to have warm vegetables like zucchini, squash, maybe some eggplant loaded in a big tortilla, that too was nothing but warm lettuce which should not be in that wrap at all. Sorry to bash The Blue Hen like this, but please don't be afraid to go back to what it used to be please. read more

Great place for a quick meal. Been there many times and have never been disappointed. Their wings are great and my favorite is the chicken bacon ranch wrap, which is outstanding. Great french fries as well. adequate seating for the type of place that it is ...always appears to be clean. staff is generally friendly and professional, and the food comes out fairly quick. As a long time blue hen supporter. This places decline has been nothing short of disappointing. I came in with my two partners to order a student special like we always do (we are students). Long and behold they have increased their prices by 3 dollars for just a main course while also making the wrap half the size it used to be. I asked the cashier if this price was correct and she looked at me like I had ten heads. Who is paying 15 dollars for a wrap that fits in the palm of their hand and some middle of the pack fries. Would rather go to a high end dining experience like chilis where I can be satisfied for a similar price. Seriously where do they get off charging 15 dollars for a glorified kids meal. read more

I'm letting you know up-front that this is one of those reviews that's strongly based on personal preference. "But aren't most reviews based on personal preference?" you might ask. Yes, but I think it's especially true for things like wings and barbecue because the *style* of the food affects how much you like - or don't like - the restaurant. Barbecue, for example, has a TON of distinctly different styles: Memphis, Tennessee, Kansas City, West/North/South Carolina, Central/East/South Texas, and much more. If you're a die hard KC BBQ person, you probably prefer that over Texas-style. You get it. When it comes to Buffalo wings, I like the fry-sauce-bake (FSB) kind. The wings are satisfyingly crispy, the sauce is baked on, adding a deeper level of flavor, and because they're baked they're drier, so blue cheese dressing sticks if you like to dip the wings like I do. FSB wings are just better all around. Unfortunately for me, The Blue Hen cooks their wings (not sure how), serving them immediately after saucing them, resulting in soft-skinned wings drenched and dripping wet with sauce. You might love this style; it's not for me. The wings themselves are basic, average, straight-up wings. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, and this is not a bad review. There's just nothing special, unique, or distinctive about them, which might be exactly what you want. No judgment, here. The Blue Hen isn't my go-to wings place because they don't make wings the way I like them made. If you like their style, then this could be your place. read more

Found this place while looking for something new to try and different than my usual places. It is located in a small plaza off of Rt 6 nice looking place have their menu written in chalk on the walls and tri-fold menus located in buckets. Partner Joined me and they are severely allergic to shellfish so had to ask if their fryer was multi purpose or they had separate for their seafood and wings. At first they said they cooked their wings in a separate fryer but their fish is all cooked in the same fryer. After a moment of disappointment the head chef told us due to the Super bowl this weekend they were using all fryer but normally they do have a Gluten Free fryer they use, but to accommodate us they would fry up the wings, fish and chips in the same fryer that would be shellfish free. This was very helpful and generous for them to do. An order of 24 wings: mild buffalo, lemon pepper, black /white wings, fish and chips, small potato wedges, a biscuit and cornbread were ordered. They were busy filling weekend orders so food took some time but it was well worth the wait. Wings were full size like you expect at a Buffalo Wild Wings, crispy and full of flavor. Biscuit and cornbread were great, fish and chips were delicious and the potato wedges are battered. Overall food was great, free refills on fountain drinks. I would recommend this restaurant for wings, lots of flavors I definitely want to go back and try more of them. Price is consistent with wings and with all the food purchased I was thoroughly satisfied. They earned their 5* so I would recommend you give them a try as well. read more

I came here at the suggestion of a coworker and after weighing my options, I go with the Sunday Special. While the food seems to take a little longer than you would expect, it arrive and it's pretty good. Fries are ok, thin and crispy! Lots of locals coming in, sitting at booths without masks. I think they might be employees showing up early for shifts as they seem to have the run of the place. I look forward to returning to try their wings and the fried chicken! read more

I've been eating here for months now and am just now getting to write a review. The absolute best friend chicken anywhere. The burgers are great and Jose always prepares to the exact temperature I ask for. The wings are fabulous, I prefer the bone in. Salads are awesome my fave is the Walnut pear add grilled chicken. The white balsamic dressing is off the hook (ask for it on the side) They have specials (I'll add a pic) I've told you what I stick with the rest is up to you to decide. read more

Great wings, fast service. They get your order right every time. The hot is hot, but flavorful, not just uncomfortable. The salads are great, with big portions. I recommend the boneless wings. They're huge and definitely more meat per wing than on-the-bone if that's something you worry about. The garlic parm is very good too. We've yet to have a negative experience. Need to grab something quick to eat, so I stopped here. So I scanned the menu for a spicey addition to my wings. Medium buffalo and mango habanero. So I stepped to the counter and was greeted by this teenage girl who I think just found out her boyfriend cheated on her. No smile, no welcome just what can I get you..... so 12 bone in wings with a can of soda $13 and change. Hmmmm.....Hope the wings are big and juicy for $1 a wing. So after about 10 minutes my wings arrived. As you can see in the picture, far from big far from juicy. Buffalo sauce on point, as for the mango habanero....... well was a sweet dry rub. SWEET......Habanero? SWEET???? thought habaneros were hot? Oh well. So I go up to the counter again to get another CAN of soda and an extra blue cheese dressing....ummmm $2.17. We ordered for a graduation party and everything was fabulous! Lynn helped me with the menu selections and quantities based on the make up of the group and was spot on. I've had lots of bbq and I promise the pulled pork, pulled chicken and ribs were some of the most tender and delicious I've ever had. So good- fresh, hot, tasty, juicy and beautifully fried chicken. Crisp without being greasy. White meat breast was so good and even took to reheating at home keeping taste and texture. Sides good, some better than others. Loved the chicken and waffles. Friendly and pretty quick. We're making the trip up there just for the chicken. Take the drive - it's worth it. Came down from Boston to visit family and we ordered food from Blue Hen. The food was amazing. I had the Mojito Brisket wrap and it was delicious. The wings are amazing. The only thing Blue hen has to do is cook the French fries a little longer, need to be more crisper. read more

I'm sad I've lived in the area my whole life and never went out of my way to try this place. Got the Sunday Special, as the cashier suggested it as being a favorite. When I tell you every bite felt like the first, it was just that good, I'm not exaggerating. The spicy Mayo wasn't that spicy, which made me glad because I can't handle spice. It made the entire sandwich that much better. Chicken was cooked perfectly - not greasy and just enough crispness that it melted in your mouth. Finding out they have curly fries also made me extremely happy. Love how clean the outdoor seating area is, which I prefer to sitting in a store front. Will be my new go-to! read more

This place is so good! Owned by the same people that own Bliss, this is the place to go for boneless buffalo wings in Mahopac. The boneless wings particularly are amazing - they're huge and they are fresh. Also try the "motherclucker" sandwich - crispy chicken, bacon, fried egg, cheese, and maple syrup glaze. Probably terrible for you but is the most amazing chicken sandwich I've ever had. They have numerous sauces for the wings - I always get the medium buffalo or the Korean BBQ sauces but my wife loves their dry rubs. Prices are fair and the quality of the food is so much better than what you get at a Buffalo Wild Wings or a Planet Wings. Give it a try - you won't regret it! read more

Came here for takeout yesterday after trying their wings when they had a station during the San Gennaro festival in Yorktown Heights. ordered 20 naked wings with teriyaki sauce and another with BBQ and both were delicious ordered a 4 pieces fried chicken combo with the biscuit and the chicken was homemade and had a blast of flavor that your usually looking for when you eat fried chicken.. nice and crispy also.. the biscuit had no flavor and was really dry had two small sides of mash potatoes and seasoned vegetables that were tasty also didn't give it 5 stars because i need to go back and try their boneless wings based on the reviews that are on here service was attentive and quick place has a few tables if you want to sit in and eat.. but a very small place that you will pass on route 6 if your not looking for it small parking lot.. maybe three cars fit so plan accordingly read more
