I had to give them 1 star to post this review but they deserved 0 stars as far as I'm concerned...service was terrible....one of our party of 6 waited an hour for a hamburger to come out - another ordered a pizza that was served cold - sent back to reheat and when it came back,it was inedible...thank goodness they had a food truck! Bartender had trouble getting the drink orders right - overall one of the worst experiences I have had out in quite awhile. Here's a suggestion BYE, close the kitchen, serve drinks, have bands. Went on a Sunday afternoon with my family. The food was ok but the service was terrible. They are way understaffed and the folks that are working don't seem to care much about the customers. We've been here three times. The first time was the week they opened and it was fine. However, the last two times have been an unfortunate experience. The atmosphere is great and the food is fine for a bar (but I agree it's way overpriced). What's wrong is the service. It's truly become terrible. On our second visit about a month ago, we ordered two appetizers. Over the course of 1.5 hours we asked multiple times what was happening and never got anywhere. It was also hard to get drinks and I ended up just going to the bar as needed. We eventually lost interest in eating and told them to just cancel our order. The waitress was sorry and cancelled the order. As we were leaving about 20 minutes later the appetizers came out. We left them for the others at our table. We went again last night to give them another try. We ordered two appetizers and 4 dinners. Within 20 minutes our dinners arrived. About 20 minutes later the waitress came by to check and I mentioned that we never got our appetizers. She said, "oh, okay...we'll just take them off the bill". I said that was fine for one of them, but my daughter had ordered one intending it to be part of her dinner. The waitress said she would leave it on there. Over the course of the next hour we saw her about twice and kept reminding her we were waiting. By this time, everyone else was done eating. The runner came out and delivered our appetizer to the table next to us. 5 minutes later he came out and delivered the same appetizer to that table again. I went and found our waitress and explained what just happened and she placed another order for us. 20 minutes later it came, but my daughter wasn't hungry anymore. This was so disappointing and probably our last time visiting here. Fortunately she did remove the cost of that plate, but our bill was still $100 for two chicken sandwiches, nachos, wings and a few drinks. Crazy. I see responses from the management about how they want to make things right on some reviews here and there, but yet week after week people post this same experience so clearly nothing is changing. I think this is a fine place if you just want a drink or two, but otherwise it's probably best to avoid the frustration. read more

Cool concept and the atmosphere on a busy grand opening night was fun. Prices outrageous. The most expensive in Lake Norman. They will be busy initially and then if they don't make the prices competitive they will be empty in 2 months. But if they figure it out and keep it reasonable they will crush it, especially when the weather is nice. But $8.50 for a draft beer, common' folks. Beer selection is ok but thought the craft beers were a little pricey. $3 domestic cans at the outside bar wasn't bad at all. Food is mediocre at best. I will definitely give BYE one more try, but probably not another after that. My friend, my husband, our 4 month old and I went to BYE on Saturday to have some drinks and food. When we walked in the server told us to sit anywhere we would like... I specifically asked if they would serve us outside and she said that they would find us and serve us wherever we sat. After 15 minutes I walked inside, asked a server if anyone would plan to serve us and asked for Menus.. the response was " we are low on menus but here is one". There were literally 5 tables with guests max...so where are all of the menus? The server Kim was really nice, but all around the service was pretty "eh". I never like seeing servers sitting around chatting/talking at a table...but when you have had an empty drink for 20 mins., you then walk in the bathroom and its a mess, or you see empty tables that are a mess WHILE the servers are standing around doing nothing... its even more of a turn off! It seems to me that the managers/owners would expect side work done rather than talking. This is the second time I had been into BYE and BOTH times the servers had informed my table that they were "out of a lot of beers" because it was busy the night before. While I appreciate their crowd the night before... don't have a standard beer menu if you cant plan accordingly. Lastly... perhaps I am now biased with a child...but if you are going to advertise that you are a family friendly establishment... consider a KOALA changing station in your bathroom so that I don't need to go change my baby in my car midway through our afternoon. read more

Amazing potential, horrible experience. The venue is beautiful and great for families... but it is impossible to get food unless you sit in the right section. Why are there tables that don't serve food? Bartenders and servers put you in and endless loop of "go talk to X to make an order". We stood at the bar for 30 minutes waiting for a kids meal. I called the number and I have left 3 messages over the past week or two and no one has contacted me back** Very disappointed with the kitchen and food last night. We ordered several appetizers and entrees last night. We waited 30 minutes and one entree came out before the appetizers then 20 minutes later a few more entrees came out Then 20 minutes later the rest of the entrees came out with the appetizers. Our two burgers were ordered as medium and medium rare and came out well done and cold but the fries were very hot. Our server was great and kept checking on us and apologizing for the food. She went to the kitchen several times but it didn't help with our food. She apologized all night for our food. They have their Facebook setup so that you can't put reviews on their page and if you post any negative comments they remove them. read more

I have eaten here twice, the first time the food truck that was supposed to be there was not and the food took forever. When the food was delivered my flatbread was cold and my salad was never came. I was with a large group so I was more forgiving that time and figured I would try again another time. The other time had arrived this past week and this time around my food was good the flat bread was warm not hot so OK I'm not upset about that. The service however was just non existent. It took a server about ten minutes to get over to me in the empty abyss of a dining room, Once she did it took her another ten minutes or so to return with our drink order. The food was delivered by kitchen staff... I think???? She never came back to check on us we had to find her for the check. So to sum it up- 1st experience decent service poor food quality, the 2nd time just the opposite. Well all I can say is I won't be going back anytime soon or in the foreseeable future. read more

Went for my first time last night and it will be my last. Service is terrible. Everyone has an attitude. Food took forever, we ordered Nachos and waited an hour. Bartenders short pour your drinks and then give you attitude when you say something. They switched the beer cup size halfway thru the night to a smaller cup and charged the same price. Today was our first visit, we have been anxious to try this new place, great concept and look awesome. Was stoked to try a food truck restaurant. Two of stopped in for lunch today and no food truck, so we tried the inside. The inside is great looking, huge in fact. We were greeted very quickly and found ourselves a seat. Overall Boatyard is a great looking place inside and out. Our service was very good during our visit. The food was nothing special, just "bar food". Nothing seemed homemade or made in house. We ordered The Chips Trio that supposed to have guac, queso and grilled corn salsa. The Corn Salsa turned out to be Pico, when we asked about that we were told the kitchen quit doing that and these were old menus. This might have been nice to know on the front side. I ordered the shrimp po-boy and my friend ordered the chicken wrap. The bread on the po-boy ranged from almost to hard to bite into to so soggy it was falling apart. I think there were 8 shrimps total. Meh The chicken wrap was huge and looked good, too bad they use hard crunchy cruddy bacon bits. There was a nice pile of inedible bits on the tray when done. The salads that came with both our meals were fantastic, by far the best part of our meal. Overall: nice place, good service, mediocre food. $51.00 for lunch for 2 people without any alcohol is just a little crazy. We want to try is again.....when there is an actual food truck there! read more

WE were pleasantly surprised by the decor when walking in. The food and service was fabulous. Best greek salad I've had in a long time. We are new to Cornelius from Florida and were glad to find good food and excellent service. Only thing we did not like was drinking wine out of a plastic glass. totally ruined the experience. Plus plastic is toxic to drink from and not to mention the landfill issue. Shame on them for not being mindful of our earth for generations to come. We went for our first time last week to BYE and it was an incredible experience for the whole family. They had the dueling pianos inside with cornhole and other games out back, the burgers were amazing, and the venue all in all is just really well done. BYE has taken their fair share of (mostly well deserved) hits on these types of reviews. The space is incredible, but never nearly enough servers or maybe accurately, properly trained and motivated staff. Although in all fairness, that seems to be the issue with a lot of local places these days. Last night was a wonderful exception though. Special and richly deserved shout out to Jillian, our server for a small work gathering. She was hustling, personable, and possessed a great attitude. A great experience! I noticed a few other staff a lot more engaged than I had witnessed in the 6-7 times we've been there before so maybe things are starting to turn for the better at this cool spot. If you build they will come - but you need have a great team to keep us coming back. read more

I've been here several times and each time it gets worse. They have revamped the menu, and took off two of my favorites- the hot dog and the roast beef sandwich. They replaced them with burgers. Burgers? I can go anywhere and get a burger. That hot dog was super tasty and snappy and the roast beef was just killer. Drink prices are still steep and the beer selection isn't that impressive. They have a lot of local brews, but I can drink Eleven Lakes, D9 and Ass Clown AT the brewery for cheaper. How about getting some variety, like a Bell's, or a New Belgium, or a Sweetwater? Service is hit or miss depending on the night. The bartenders aren't the friendliest and they can't seem to handle the volume. I'm going to stop trying with this place. They might get it right one day, but most of us around here doubt it. read more

Extremely cool place with tons of potential. The biggest drawback is the beer prices. Way overpriced. I would go a lot more but is is hard to justify paying the high prices. Worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant! After arriving at 6pm on a Saturday night, the 3 of us waited about 10min and were seated. Our waitress proceeded to take our drink and dinner order. My wife and I ordered appetizers with our guest ordering a sandwich. The waitress brought me the wrong beer and after I brought it to her attention, she said the beer I ordered (which was on the menu) was not on tap so they brought me a different beer (without telling me!). We waited over 1 hour with no food in sight. I complained to three different employees including 2 managers and they did absolutely nothing about our food! We threw some money on the table for the drinks and walked out (at 7:15!) telling them they could eat our food when it ever comes out! We will never eat here again!! If you are looking for some food to go with your drinks GO somewhere else! This place is horrible and the staff if no better! Completely Unresponsive!! read more
