Our boat needed to be on dry dock for repairs. Chris came to our house and was able to put it on his trailer and take it to his house. He brought it back /launched it and returned it to our boat lift in great condition /even cleaner than when he got it. The price was less than I anticipated. We hired Jeff from the boat doctor in stillwater to shrink wrap. It was an absolute Nightmare after the spring unwrapping. It was clear that no care of any kind was taken during their process. There was so much damage to our boat that it is now not properly sellable. The worst and most untrustworthy company we have ever dealt with. We look forward to their deserving failure and the power of social media to protect others. Oh and of course we were given a bogus insurance certificate. read more

Absolutely horrible. Every time they said this would fix the issue 100%, it was fixed "0"%! and then they charge you 100% and say it's this the net time. Guess what, same results. They are unreliable, unprofessional and have no idea how to troubleshoot issues. And when they did fixe an issue with my boat, the problem came right back. Mike is very organized, efficient & responsive. We had Mike winterize our boat this year, he scheduled us for a Saturday a few weeks out. What a GREAT find! I have had my boat serviced at 3 different shops around Madison. I either had challenges after they serviced it or were very expensive. Similar to other posts we had a bad experience trying to get our boat repaired with Mike at Boat Doctor/Rx. We brought it there in March of this year and after many weeks of no service we picked it up in June without any work completed. Mike actually diagnosed the problem incorrectly and it looked like our boat was dead in the water considering the cost of the repair. We decided to have 'The Harbor' in Newville take a look at it and we were very happy with their service. They quickly and affordably fixed our boat! Short version: Liars, cheats, do not stick to agreed schedules, accuse you of "liberal whining" if you have a problem with their incompetency. Then they swear/yell at you, and are totally unreasonable. I thought MAYBE the owner was having a bad day, but read some of the other reviews, owner pulls the same shit and calls people liberal pussies and threatens them with violence. F*ck this guy, he should not be in business. Long version: Called ahead a week ago, they told me to bring my boat in Monday for an engine alignment. They said that if I brought it in Monday they could get me in, as their schedule fills up later in the week. I dropped it off monday at noon. They called and said that my gimbal bearing was installed incorrectly because it wouldn't accept grease. No grease was pumped into it, the fitting is dry. They lied, & to try to make more money by performing unnecessary work. Then, they said they needed the outdrive to align the engine. Why? No idea. I dropped that off at 9am on Tuesday. Called Tuesday night, had not started on it. Called Wed. Had not started on it. They called me Thursday, at 12:30pm, and said they weren't going to get to it til next week, because they're closed fri, sat, sun, and monday. I had 5 hours to get my truck, show up, and pick up my boat. I showed up, and had thought of a solution that would benefit both parties. If they would rent me the engine alignment tool, I could still get my engine aligned, and they would make money. I would leave my credit card. Upon hearing this idea, the guy in charge said absolutely not. I explained that I feel a bit screwed, as they had told me my boat would be done earlier in the week, and now it's too late to order a tool, and the guy cut me off and told me that he didn't want to hear any "liberal whining". I asked him what he was talking about, and he told me to get the f*ck out of **** shop, and started yelling at me. I told him he was being unreasonable, and this was no way to treat a potential customer. He said he didn't care, and to get my boat and get off his property. The guy then swore more at me. Keep in mind I had done EVERYTHING they had asked, on time, and was always polite. The guy is obviously a huge *******. DO NOT GO HERE, and tell all your friends to avoid this place. Shop was messy. Owner didnt know much about his own skills, capabilities, orneven pricing. Service was not welcoming and after looking at my trailer the owner refused the work. Didnt even know he was out of wires also. Never gonna consider this shop again. read more

The Boat Doctor was the worse mistake I made. I chose the Boat Doctor because there labor rate was about $5 less than the competition and they could get my boat in that day. I was told my boat would be diagnosed that day. I should have known better when I had to call to get information. It took 3 days for them to look at my boat. After the diagnosis I was told repairs would take 3-4 hours and I could pick my boat up the next morning. A stator was blown. When they did not call me back in two days. I called them, to find out the parts did not come in (ya right). Was told the boat would be ready tomorrow. Waited two more days to find out the mechanic was sick and left in the middle of the repair. No one else could finish. Out of 6 mechanics. Then told it would be ready by Friday. On Saturday I was told the mechanic had a death in the family. After another week of phone tag I drove to the shop to find my boat parked in the lot without the cover on. I flipped out because we had almost 100" of rain in the last 3 days. Kathi the owner told me there was not a cover for the boat. After showing her the cover in the bow that Tim took off to look at the engine the story change. Now I needed to tell them to cover the boat daily. Whatever. To shorten this up they had my boat for 4 weeks when I got a call from the mechanic telling me the Stator (he installed ) was wired wrong and blew the stator and trigger assembly now. Wouldn't you know it Tim and Kathi are on vacation. No one to talk to. Still no call when they got back. I went down to the shop and was called a moron and how could a moron like me understand electrical systems after I asked if they ohmed the stator out first before starting the engine. When I said I was a IBEW electrician then I was told I should have repaired it myself. At this point I am done with the name calling, incompetence and total lack of professionalism. So I say what is the total I owe, I just want my boat. They had no idea. Tim and Kathi called the mechanic in to ask how much time he had into the repair. The whole time the mechanic is stumbling, I think, maybe this maybe that. They had no pricing for the parts ordered. No clue what was going on. I said I want my boat today before you close give me a call with the total. I had to call them to find out the $4-600 repair ( I was quoted) was now $1400 and the boat is now in worse shape than I brought it in. I check my options. Including legal. With the year of my boat and still needing about $1000 in repairs after paying for the bill they were charging, it was not worth it. I lost about 3 months of my life due to Boat Doctor lies, the boating season, and my boat. Yes I never got it back. Oh ya now they are a mobile rip off service center. We have used the"doc" for 3 seasons now. I am one of those who tend to wait til the last minute when it comes to pulling the boat out, winterizing or like last fall and being from out of town asking them to store our boat at 5 at night on a Sunday they took care of my needs right away. We went here to support local business and avoid a large boat shop. It was a HUGE mistake. Their website is very misleading. It says "Our business is getting you back on the water as fast as possible." This could not be further than the truth. We dropped our boat off on a Monday and were told it would be fixed in 1.5-2 weeks. We thought this was reasonable. After a full two weeks we called to see what the status was. Nobody had even looked at our boat. We kept being promised that our boat would be looked at first thing the next day, however when we called the next day we were always given some excuse. After our boat sitting for a full month, they had not even diagnosed what was wrong with it. We picked it up and took it to another repair shop. We had our boat back from them in 1day! STAY AWAY FROM THE BOAT DOCTOR. They are very slow and not honest with you. read more

These guys are a mobile service now which worked out great for me. Not only did they get me in faster than the two other guys in town, but they found a part that supposedly was not available anymore and then fixed my boat in my driveway during the week. I didn't have to let my boat sit around some other half-secure location in the rain and better yet, I got to see the guy working on my boat and talk to him. It was fantastic. What better way to get your boat fixed than on your own property standing next to the mechanic fixing it... and for the same price or less than some shop. He even came back after 5:00pm to put in the new part so I could take my wife on the boat a couple last times before she had surgery and was due to spend the next 2-3 weeks recovering.
