I typically visit Newby's Barber Shop in Hesperia but I needed a cut today. And these guys did NOT disappoint. I believe my barber was Donald. He was really meticulous and friendly. My cut was perfect, and exactly as I had asked him to style it. I told him I would be back again and I meant it. It's a simple shop. No frills. I've been here three times. First one was awful. The guy last seat in. He doesn't listen to how you want it cut. Then I went to Donnie and I was very happy. Then the same guy was the only one there and he basically gave me a buzz cut. This is rediculous. I ask for a 2 on the sides and showed him how much off top. He gives me a 1 on the sides and 1" or more off the top. In the end both times he cut my hair the way his looks. If he can't listen and understand then he needs to retire. I've been coming here for a while. It got the job done but was never a perfect haircut. Also they don't always keep their hours. I've shown up when they've been closed an hour before their posted hours. Overnight they increased their prices by 100%. (From $15 to $30) The man who cut my hair didn't ask questions on length, how I wanted the back, etc. It's possible that when Donny (the owner) is on his A game, his haircuts are well done but not for the other guy. Go some place else for a haircut because this place doesn't deliver value. On the other hand, they do like to display dark Christian messages that can be read outside the shop so that might be a plus to some people. read more

Dropped in a couple of times and I will definitely become a regular. It's affordable and ideal for a guy looking for a barbershop in the Inland Empire that's not overpriced or ghetto. I went with the gentleman's haircut both times and left feeling satisfied, I wasn't rushed and was asked if there was anything else I wanted. Don knows what he is doing, when I asked for pomade he massaged it in and really fixed it up. For me waiting hasn't been too bad, normally there's one or two people in front but generally I get there 10 - 20 minutes before my appointment so I don't worry about the time for my parking. Warning: parking is pretty difficult so come on a weekday because Loma Linda can be unforgiving to drivers stopping by. I am in shocked of what happened today! I went in for a haircut and everything was just fine like normal. Then I left and got my cousin over here because I've been telling him about this place. My cousin never been here before and he was disrespectfully treated by Donald. My cousin ask the barber for a haircut and explained himself well, but the barber was having a bad day and went off on my cousin after he asked him to cut a little bit more off the top of his head. I'm in shocked and very embarrassed of what happened today. Will never return to this place and will never recommend this place to anybody anymore. Well, I went for the haircut, I told him what kind of haircut I want and I showed him the photo of my hairs. In the end. I told him that I asked you to make some Fleeks on the forehead but you cut all the hairs even then I didn't say anything to him and I told him its okay. Then I tried to pay him his money then He said, I will not take it because you didn't give me the respect on the chair, So I will not take any money. Then he said, you don't know how to communicate. You didn't explain me well. I said, sorry might be you didn't understand something but he was like never come to my shop again and I said, you need to take the money because you did the work and I am supposed to pay but he said no. And he said, get out of my shop right now and he pushed me out of the shop. I felt discriminated, I felt mentally harassed at this shop. I am going to take legal action against this shop because I am respectful person and I didn't say anything to him because I was with my family. I felt mentally harassed. They're closed Fridays & Saturdays, and there's street parking available in front of the shop if you can nag a spot. Each of their barbers do an amazing job and, of course, if you want a cut you're guaranteed to like, make an appointment with Donnie! This was the worst barber experience of my life. I made an appointment online a few days ago and no one seems to be checking the system or paying any attention to the appointment schedule because I still had to wait 45 minutes. I now wish the wait time was my only problem. This is by far the ugliest haircut I have ever received. I would post pictures to prove my point but I'm too embarrassed. I'm going to have to wear a hat or beanie every day for the next few weeks. The barber had no sense of length, cutting my hair about half of the size I told him to. The "fade" is pretty much just a 0 up to my temple area and a hard line. He also said he "doesn't do" line ups or hard parts. I think I have never looked worse in my life. A self haircut at home would be better. Don't get your haircut here. You get what you pay for. If you want something simple like a buzz or crew cut you should be able to do that at home anyways. If you want anything else like a fade, lineup, or part, just shell out the $15-$20 at another real barbershop. You never want to go to a barbershop looking worse than when you came in. REVIEW BASED ON INTERACTION, NOT A HAIRCUT We stopped by today to see how long the wait was to get my son's haircut. We had groceries in the car and it's very hot out so we just wanted to get an idea of how long it would be. My husband ran in to ask the barbers at Boadway's while I waited in the car with our two toddlers. My husband opened the door and said "hi, excuse me, how long is the wait for a haircut?" (My husband is a super polite person). One of the barbers looks at the other barber (both are cutting people's hair) and then turns to my husband and says, "how many people do you see sitting in the chair over there?" My husband replies, "um, one." The barber then says, "so that's the wait." I told my husband never mind when he came and told me this. I'm not giving business to a shop that talks to people in a rude and condescending manner ... and all just because a simple question was asked? A few months later, my hair is all wild and I ask Donnie whether he has ideas for how I should grow out my hair. I have been coming to Boadway's now for 29 years. But today will be my last time. Walked in to get my haircut and the price for a haircut has "doubled" from $15 to $30. I have always had a good haircut from Ivan and I could always count on him to do it the way I wanted. However, there is "no" justification for "doubling" your prices. You could tell me that prices are going up on everything and you would be right. You could even tell me that you did a market survey of barbershop pricing in the area and you are now in line with others and that too might be right. However, the others in the area did not double their pricing from what it was. In addition, you doubled the pricing and added no additional value or services for the huge price increase. I may go to another barber and pay similar pricing to your new $30 price, however, I will go to the other barber and not to you, for the principle. Boadway's no longer cares about their loyal customers and it is evident with the price doubling. There are many other choices in the area and you just made it an easy decision to stop going to Boadway's. Whether Loma Linda Medical asks you to vacate for some project that they want to do or you lose enough loyal customers, you days are numbered. It is a shame as I don't think Don Boadway, if he were here today, would approve of the handling of this. Your business now Donny, for however long it lasts, but you lost a loyal customer today and I suspect many others. read more

Not great for small children and the wait is ridiculous even when you have an appointment

This was my go to barbershop because of the fair prices. I don't ask for much, just a simple haircut like a trim, nothing fancy/trendy. And to be honest, there was only one guy at the shop that actually knew how to cut, the older gentleman, not the younger gentleman with glasses. The younger dude was just okay, but the older dude knew how to cut. Unfortunately, I usually get my hair cut by the younger dude because he just happens to not be busy when I show up, and I don't know how to decline his services without coming across as rude. Anyways, as you can guess.... I got my haircut by the younger dude with glasses, but this time, he asked me for $30. I understand inflation, but doubling the price made me not want to come back especially if he cuts my hair because then I can just cut my own hair and get the same results. At first, I thought he was joking when he said $30, but he wasn't. I was disappointed, but I still tipped, reluctantly. Now, I don't care if I come across as rude. Young dude with glasses, or whatever your name is... you AIN'T cuttin my hair NO MO!!! I'm only giving 2 stars because of the older gentleman that knows how to cut hair; otherwise, I would rate 1 star because of the price. If the price didn't change, then maybe a 4 because of the older gentleman. 2 stars based on service and price. Now, I have to go find another barbershop that I avoided because of the $30 prices, but at least all of the barbers there generally know how to cut and provide an overall better experience/service. read more

His technique and attention to detail give me confidence that my hair cut is going to be nothing but his best. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!!!!!! I found this place on yelp and reviews looked okay. I drove from Yucaipa to go here since most places where I live are horrible. I Had a appointment at 10am. It says to please show up 15 minutes before your appointment. No biggie. I drive 25 minutes to shop to find that parking is a bad situation. No parking spots but the street which were all full. Had to park in university parking where I could get a ticket. So I wait 25 minutes and guess what the owner is not there for my appointment. I leave and get a phone call from Donnie the owner asking if I left and saying sorry. Sorry doesn't pay for my gas to drive to his shop or my hour I lost in the day. As a business owner you should show up for your clients appointment or atleast have the decency to call me to let me know you would be late. Sorry excuse for a owner. I don't care if you give the best haircut but not showing up on time for my appointment is pathetic. read more

I can't believe it took me over 4 years to come to this spot even though my school was right next to this place. After graduating from Loma Linda University and walking by this place numerous times I decided I needed a haircut & beard trim due to an upcoming wedding. Parking is the only issue at this spot since you have to park by the street which is I think 1 hour parking. Wait time wasn't too bad and Donnie took his time to listed to what I wanted/expected. I asked for a fade and to trim my beard to a 3. He showed me the mirror 2-3 times to see if I wanted to change anything to my liking. I gotta say, I'm pretty pleased with the results. He only charges $10 for haircut & beard trim which is pretty cheap as I usually get it done for around $15-20. Since I moved to Redlands in the summer of 2016 I needed a place to cut. Searched on Yelp and found this place online. I didn't know the area too well and found out it's right on the Loma Linda U campus. I had seen it closes on Friday and Saturdays which I figured I knew due to being in a faith based area. Went in and an older man was very friendly and cut my hair. I think he's the owner or what not. He did everything awesome and in a timely manner. Ever since then I've always come back. I can't beat $10 anywhere else. They keep it old school which I like. There could be a 30 minute wait and I'll still get my hair cut there. read more

It's $15 now! I think haircuts should be $5 before tips but those places disappeared a few years back... Hahaha. I was in and out in under 30 minutes. There were people there that got there before me and left afterwards but they wanted a specific person. I didn't think it matters who cuts my hair. I got the older gentleman with the chair furthest inside and he gave me the cut I asked for. I don't know why people wait longer than they have too... I am very picky when it comes to getting a fade. It is hard to find a barber that knows what they are doing. This place is one of the few spots where I am a returning customer. Every time I come to Loma Linda for a visit, I stop by here to get a hair cut. I usually go to Donald but he had a long line waiting. So I decided to give Irvin a shot. I got my usual medium skin fade. Irvin wasn't too bad. He still did a good job with the fade. From my observation I think he does a better job with regular fade than a skin fade. Haven't had a bad experience here. Most of the barber i usually go to cost $20 and not every one that I been to is a good experience. For $10 any hair cut?
