Every weekend, I drive in from Pasadena to take my Mom to her dialysis appointments on Saturdays at…read morethe VA Hospital. (My Braun S9 shaver died on me earlier this week so I needed to get my head shaved.) After I dropped my Mom off, I was on Yelp searching for a local barber to take care of me. Some places were booked for the morning, others were too expensive. I went with the most affordable price on the phone, $23. There is really nothing to shaving a head bald, so I thought. What could possibly happen? It started innocent enough. Then, as soon as the barber finished, he asked if I wanted aftershave. I agreed. This was the first sign of an issue. My head started burning, more than normal. The whole point of aftershave is to disinfect minor cuts, soothe and hydrate skin, right? I chalked it up to strong aftershave and proceeded to settle the bill. Then he says, $28. I said, "huh?" He said, "two eight". I break out my cash and say, "I was told $23 on the phone." My barber asks another barber, "He said he was quoted $23 over the phone." The other barber points at a sign and says, "Look, the sign says regular cut $23." I give $26 total and leave. When I left, I kept noticing how irritated my head felt. I get home and I look in the mirror. I'm shocked. I look like I got scratched up by a cat. (Please review photos.) I've never had an experience like this before from any barber. I cannot recommend this place. If there was a zero-star rating, that would be more accurate.

My fiancé called boulevard cuts around 25 minutes before we got there. They are one of the few places open in this craziness right now. BUT don't bother going unless you are one of the guys personal clients. When my fiancé called he asked if they were open and a women picked up the phone and said yes and before my fiancé even had the chance to say thank you we're on our way, she hung up the phone. Then when we got there there was one car in their parking lot and when we walked in it was the barber and his client. He asked if we set an appointment and my fiancé said ugh no the girl said you guys were open. Then the barber said yah but I'm only taking my clients. Then he went on to say the girl left 15 minutes ago and she was waiting for us apparently. Well, my personal thought is if she was going home and waiting, she wouldn't of hung up the phone so fast before we can even tell her we're on our way. Then I stepped and asked, being 6 months pregnant I will admit my patience is thin with rude and abrupt people. I asked, can you squeeze him in by any chance please? He's a marine and needs his hair cut. He said, and I quote, "Nah, man I'm only taking MY personal clients." So then I got upset and asked do you know of any other place that's open? He said, "Nope, sorry." So my fiancé, he's a bit of pusher over and nicely said, "ah it's okay man, thanks." I on the other hand was not as nice I'll admit because I strongly believe I'm treat people the way you want to be treated... so I said, "Yah man, thanks." I understand things are really bad right now, I understand. I'm one of the people who got laid off in this messy situation. But we need to be nice to each other, especially if you are still in business, you should be more professional in general, and not be rude or unprofessional and turn away business in an unsavory rude way. My fiancé called Chop & Stach Vintage Barber. The girl was nicer and said they're open till 3 and had only one walk in, I'll save there review for their profile, but I recommend going there.
