I highly recommend having Joshua, I have been growing out my hair for a long while and haven't seen a barbershop in 8 months. I didn't know exactly what I wanted and Joshua helped me the entire time and really listened to me and gave suggestions. I left there loving my cut and adding Joshua's number in my phone because i'm sure as hell coming back! Every time i've been there before it was also great. Very ghetto shop I live in East Highland the shop is located in East Highland and it does not have the vibe of the neighborhood. I went in with me and my son to get a haircut. I had my son go first with the lady that did an amazing job. But the other two barbers are very unprofessional this is not a family orientated barbershop they play songs that use a lot of profanity. The barbers have conversations about their "dumb" customers they had. They have conversations about how stressful the day is and that they can't understand why people keep make an appointment. If you walk in you better get ready to get in an argument or have someone talk trash to you. I was a walk-in and thankfully the lady that took my son got me out of that argument. But someone walked in while we were there and when they left he said out loud he does not understand why people think that they can just come and walk in it's very stupid everywhere you go you have to make appointments I don't understand why these people can't simply make appointments we have things to do. He couldn't just say no and keep it starts himself they do not like walkins I guess the workload is too much for them. I will never go to the shop again very unfortunate they're very close by. But it feels like later down the line I might get into a argument with an employee. Also prices are very high for the vibe that they provide $30 is for a professional shop read more

My husband and son have been coming to Shay and Marisol for their cuts for about a year now. Wouldn't go anywhere else they do the best job and take the best care of their hair. New barber shop in my neighborhood so I thought I'd give it a try. There was zero reviews, so I was a little skeptical about what to expect. I had Marisol cut my hair. And she did a fantastic on it. She took the time to do all of the detailed work that older guys (like myself) need. And by that I mean eye brow trimming, the small ear hair trimming and line up all the way around. I get a 1 to 2 fade with a hard part and a undercut up top... it came out really well. The place itself is kinda small, but clean. And I really appreciate not having to deal with the typical "barber shop" bullshit when the barber starts on your hair and keeps walking around talking to people.. I would say the only real down fall is that it's kinda pricey at $21 for a cut.. read more

I decided to get my haircut here because my usual spot had a 2 hour wait and this place didn't. Also it was a new spot so I figured I'd give it a shot. I wish I didn't. The facility was very unorganized and dirty, which is surprising since it's a new place. More importantly the cut was very bad, I got suspecious after the barber spent 15 min on cleaning up my hair around my ear. If you're getting a buzz cut then this place could do it for you but keep in mind it's going to cost $20 so you could get that cut cheaper somewhere else. I was so glad to see this place open just a block from my home. Hot towel shaves, good atmosphere with TVs and drinks, and good barbers. I don't trust anyone else trimming my beard or doing my son's hair. During quarantine, they even made house calls (wearing masks and gloves, outside). This new place does have potential. The location is great, considering that there is only a couple of barbers in the area. I went in, around late afternoon (weekday), without an appointment. I signed in, and saw that they have three hairdressers, all with a customer. I was offered a beer or water, which I found a little old, considering they don't know how old I am. Next, I waited for 45 minutes. No one had updated me/told me on how long it would take. Within those 45 minutes, saw that they had an ATM machine in the middle of the barber shop. CASH only, I'm assuming. No signs anywhere. Not even on Yelp. I also, saw that the first hair dresser had a ruled paper sheet taped on her mirror: a list of client appointments. I couldn't believe how long it was taking to shave someone's 5 o'clock shadow, so I left. Maybe they need someone in the front? or maybe they need to follow up with waiting guests. If not, they will lose customers and this business will closed. In the meantime, I would rather drive somewhere else, more professional and that would accept other payments. Other employees called and text him and he didn't answer. The employee gave me his number and I tried calling and texting to no answer as well. This is the assistant manager to a business. Shears City has some skillful barbers. Shannon has been doing my hair for some me time now. She has great people skills and remembers my cuts making it easy to do business. I drive about 30 minutes to see her and it's also because my wife likes the attention to detail that Shannon puts on my cuts. Now if you are in a hurry, it's best to set an appointment. While it's worth the wait, Shannon takes her time with whoever is on her chair.
