I am waiting to write this because it was so so. For Porto it's great. It's very touristy and the food was ok. This reminds me of fast food chains but just a bit more. Nothing stood out and because I'm writing this several months late, I can't remember if anything was good. It wasn't bad, but honestly at this point I can't remember. I think people came here more to drink. I'd have to go back to get a better assessment of this place. It's been so long, I have very little memory of it other than what I started to write and that didn't look promising. read more

Excellent all around! Food was phenomenal, fresh, tasty and the accommodated my allergies. The atmosphere was fun and adventurous. The table next to us had the best looking drinks served in fun and appetizing ways. My tea was served in the best teapot. The salmon and veggies was delicious, perfectly cooked and seasoned. My dining partner had the pork meatballs and he was very happy. We shared the chicken satay, it was perfect! Overall highly recommend this gem in Porto. EVERYONE was speaking English, so that was helpful. Diogo our server was friendly, attentive, and helpful. We will be back again for sure! Eat here! read more

Boa-Bao was a great find while taking in the sights of Porto. In this city great seafood is easy to come by so it was a treat to the Asian flavors in Europe. Started with a sampler plate as we wanted to savor every little bite. Then we moved on to the main course. Opted for the Black Tiger Shrimp which was the star of this show. Flavors came together to make a great light meal before a night of adult beverages. Speaking of adult bevs, the drinks were also delicious and tasty. I went for the wine. It's a must in this city. read more

Wow! This place is amazing. It has checked every box you can think of. We had a drink at the bar then we were seated. Great atmosphere, beautiful interior and design with beautiful plants everywhere. Very romantic spot to take a date. We ate all the vegan options except the curry and pad Thai. The mushroom and eggplant was the absolute best! The service here was amazing and all the servers were very nice and genuine. read more

Hola viajantes! If you find yourself in the cozy cities of Lisbon or Porto and looking for a delightfully delectable dining experience that will zing your tastebuds while equally being easy on your pocket book? Seek out Boa-Bao! This Asian fusion restaurant has a vast range and array of dishes that is designed to take you on a culinary journey with every item you choose. I've had the pleasure of dining at both the Porto and Lisbon locations and both have the look and feel of a Michelin-starred restaurant (which honestly, they deserve it) and the service from the wait staff fits the exquisite decor; Top notch. The menu here has so much ranging from all sorts of Asian varieties, from Pad Thai, to Pho and all sorts in between. This time I started with the Peking duck spring rolls which were absolutely delightful with that savory-flavor with a hint of plum. That was followed up with the Crispy Chicken and Sweet Potato Bao, which is AMAZING. The Bao is exceptionally fluffy with the crunchy slice of chicken in the tangy sauce, and a perfect quick pickle sliver to round it out. Then for my entree we had the Japchae with beef. This flavor profile was exactly what I was looking for, a nice soy base stir-fry with sweet potato noodles, vegetables, and topped with perfectly grilled beef strips. This combo with an ice-cold Kirin was the perfect end to a long day in Porto. Make sure to give one of their signature cocktails a try if you're feeling it, and round out your culinary journey with a soft landing! Trust me, give Boa-Bao a chance and you'll be leaving a happy-bellied human! Ciao! read more

A charming, trendy restaurant, serving modern Asian Fusion fare. The servers are friendly and hip, making for a fun experience. The noodle soups and bao were tasty and appealing to the eye as well as the palate. Recommended if you crave a change. read more

Great Asian place if you need a break from Portuguese food. Ordered the kimchi fried rice, the duck spring rolls, and the crispy chicken bao. Loved the atmosphere and decor of the place and excellent service. I'd recommend making a reservation ahead of time if you can - we came in person without one and waited an hour on the guest list. So just think ahead if possible. read more

Had a fantastic dinner here a few days ago. Cute little restaurant with a great vibe and nice decor. The service was great, and the food was really good. The Pandan Mule cocktail was absolutely delicious, and unlike anything I've ever had - definitely a repeat order. The Japchae was perfect in every way, and we ended up ordering another one. The beef pho was very flavorful but could have been hotter. The chicken bao bun was just okay to me. I'm giving 5 stars for the perfect cocktail, flawless Japchae, and really yummy lemongrass crème brûlée for dessert. Will definitely return on our next visit. read more

This was a highlight to our visit, a great meal to end our visit to Porto, the waitress was super friendly and very helpful, our appetizers were amazing as well, and we were so hungry they didn't last long, shrimp skewers and calamari with tamarind sauce, it was absolutely delicious, everything about this place made our meal very memorable, as we said to the waitress, "it's too bad we didn't come here at first" read more

A full rating just for the server alone, this young man who was patient and helpful with me to help customize the dishes for my picky vegetarian needs. I ended up with some colorful and delicious dumplings which I got thru in like 3 minutes. The dessert menu looked so enticing that we ended up getting one of each. It seems to be a rotating menu, so I can't find what we got, but there was some sweet dumplings in coconut sauce and a delicious bitter chocolate cake. The ambience is very nice too, it's a fun spot for a group (there was 8 of us). read more

Fair pan Asian food. We ordered delivery through Glovo, which was really quick and convenient. Was craving some Asian food and the husband needed pho to fight off a cold and this did the trick. Not the best but will do in Porto. read more

Thus was one of our favorite meals during our visit to Portugal. The food was seriously delicious, not to mention inventive and surprising. My group of girlfriends ordered several dishes on recommendation (service was great), and had trouble picking a favorite. If I HAD to, the salmon was lights out. I also loved the touches of the menus, bringing the whole ambiance together. Would return upon my next visit to Porto or Lisbon alike! read more

After missing out on Boa-Boa in Lisbon (2 hr wait!), we were so excited to be able to snag a table in Porto. Unlike the Lisbon location, this restaurant does take reservations! The food we tried was good, but their cocktails would be why I would recommend this restaurant. I was in the mood for a spicy margarita (not on the menu) and the bartender concocted me a great drink with a niiiice kick... just what I needed after a long day of eating sweets! read more

Just want to start by sending a message to all fellow Americans - they will not bring you your check unless you ask for it. BUT that is on us, not them. Great place to dine! My friend and I came here for our first dinner because we were craving asian food. We had landed earlier in the day and decided to take a chance on getting a table here without a reservation. Luck was on our side and we were able to get a table for two. Our waitress was great, suggestive, and helpful. We ordered multiple things to give a try. Everything we ordered was delicious and filling. The bao buns, dumplings, and fried rice we ordered were excellent. When it came time to pay, we waited for a very very long time for our check not realizing we had to ask for it. We sat there for a good 20-30 minutes waiting for the check to come and it just never did - our mistake! read more

Boa-Bao is like the solid B/B+ (depends if you're grading on a curve) student in school. It's not the A+ student who is the smartest in the class & knocks it out the park on every test & pop quiz. Sooo... let's grade this meal. Coconut mango (sticky rice inspo?) cocktail 4/10 I liked the creativity. Very pretty. No freakin' flavor. Tastes watered down. Had to send back but waitress was cool about it... Service + Ambience/Decor 10/10 Because (like I said) she let me send that drink back & overall was very attentive/friendly. Super cute. Nothing that wows but very trendy. Clean. Easy seating w/ reservation. (Make reservations!) Pad Thai w/ prawns 10/10 Yummmm. Big portion. Very tasty. Nice presentation. Would order again. Boa Bao signature cocktail 10/10 Replacement for first cocktail (they had to resubmit their homework). Tangy sweet fusion. Nicely balanced tartness. Cute prez. Chocolate orange dim sum 7/10 Ehhhh. I guess. They came to class so I guess there's points for attendance? Coconut sorbet was good but too small a portion. Would've liked more. Dim sum was a bit chewy & gelatinous. Filling was good especially when eaten w/ the sorbet. Final grade 82/100 Bonus points +2 I'll throw in a couple extra points since other people seemed to really enjoy their meal. But hey... 84/100 is still good, right?! read more

An excellent find in Porto! We were looking for an alternative to traditional Portugese fare while on vacation, and a quick Google search for "Asian dumplings" yielded this gem as the #2 search result. Close to our hotel, so off we went! The interior of this place was SO COOL!! A little bar at the front greets you right past the host stand, and all the fun glassware they serve their drinkware in was on full display. Looks for the 3 monkeys too! Seated at the counter since all the dining tables were busy, and while we were bummed at first, it ended up being great as we overlooked the open kitchen concept, which was like having dinner and a show! Ordered the dim sum, Vietnamese spring rolls, Peking duck fried rolls, duck gao bao, and the japchae. A great amount of food for two hungry people! Husband got the Bamboo cocktail, said it was the 'funnest' drink he ever had, but didn't want more than one. The dim sum was good, but felt pricey - 9 euros for 6 dumplings. Duck fried rolls were totally worth it, the duck gao bao were dry and flavorless. The japchae was the most amazing japchae I've ever had in my life, and that's saying something considering it's my favorite Korean dish. Flavor was on point, I'll be dreaming of that once I'm back in the States. Worth every penny of 15 euros. Overall a great experience, but didn't get 5 stars as it was HOT as all hell in the restaurant. No A/C (or it wasn't on) and being near the woks was sweaty. Also, our server was not good. Didn't bring drinks until we were almost done with dinner, and still forgot the liter of water. Couldn't find her for a good 10 min after we asked for the bill either. Go for the food, deal with the service! A restaurant that serves Korean, Chinese and Jaoanese foods, wok'd by cooks that speak English, served up in Portugal. Does it get any better? Food brings you together! read more

Trendy spot for some really good Asian food on a cold night In Porto. When we first got there, there were lot of space by the front door (which is nice if it's rainy or cold etc), we thought the restaurant was empty and would have no wait, once we walked past the first bar , we realized the place was packed! We were directed to sit at the bar in the back while waiting for a friend, they gave us a cute piece of "boarding pass" , as a sign that we r "waiting to be next " for a table. How cute is that idea! Their craft cocktails all had a cool mix of ingredients and even the presentations were creative. My gin drink was served in a teapot, I thought it was my friends tea at first. We got the buns, the black color one was really good and the pork belly one was ok. The soups we got were all really tasty with plenty of veggies and meat. read more

I so wanted to like this place since it is the only 'Asian fusion' restaurant in Porto, but the food was so blah. The service is basically non-existent, all the waiters just congregate in the back of the restaurant by the bar talking and hanging out while the guests are ignored. Our pad Thai, which I have had on many occasions and around the world, has never tasted like that (and that is not a good thing). The decor was interesting, but I will not be returning. Also, and most importantly, the bao bun for which they are named, was probably the WORST thing I've ever eaten. I couldn't even finish it. read more

If you are looking for something a little different in Porto, something that feels like home (Australia), some fresh Asian cuisine this is the place for you. A cute trendy spot that has outdoor and indoor seating with an extensive menu including soups, stir frys, noodle dishes and much much more. Although on the priceier side of Portugal, the portions definitely make it worth it. They offer to split the large soup and noodle dishes which is fantastic for sharing. read more

It happened to be our last meal in Porto before our journey back home. We had tried days earlier to get in but no such luck. My wife and i had a relatively early dinner by European standards 7:30 so we got in! The coconut curry chicken was by far one of the best meals in Porto! Very eclectic menu so lots to choose from. You won't be disappointed! read more

We were excited about coming to Boa Bao after hearing so many great reviews, and I'm happy to say we were not disappointed. We made a reservation 3 days in advance and was seated right away. Yummy selection of drinks and mock tails, and the menu had a variety of dishes. I will say this is not like other typical Portuguese restaurants - the servings were not big. Don't under order if you're trying to share! Seeming that this was one of the only Asian restaurants in Porto (with good reviews) the prices made sense. But it wasn't one of the cheapest restaurant we've eaten at in Portugal. The bao buns are a must try - we recommend the classic and chicken. Also (not shown) the pork and kimchi manduu was great. Lastly, don't skip dessert! The chocolate cake with ice cream had an interesting spice to it and it was delicious. *make a res before hand, they don't take walk ins as they are usually fully booked. read more

Posted pics of the menu today. #You'reWelcome The food here was really good and the atmosphere is great. I came with a party of three and was immediately upon seating told we had to be out by an hour and a half after our initial reservation time. Down this cobblestone block you will find plenty of bars/restaurants/tapas to get your drank and grub on. BUT Boa-Bao was a place to fill my homesick tummy. I needed some rice and spicy Thai food. It is a fusion of Thai, Chinese and Vietnamese. This restaurant satisfied that craving, although nothing is ever spicy enough for this Thai girl. The cocktails made up for that though. The drinks are well crafted to excite your taste pallets. My favorite is the Bao Uau which has the spiciness from the ginger and hint of sweetness from the edlwflower liquor and creaminess from the egg whites. My boyfriend had the Khi khi Pho which is definitely more for the adventurous type. It's a whiskey drink mixed with pho broth and dried fungus. I have to admit it wasn't bad. Overall great vibe or Porto! If you want a bit of the Asian flavors and some delicious cocktails come hangout here! read more

Visiting Porto for the first time with my husband and decided to give this spot a chance. Without a reservation we waited about 35 mins, but well worth it. We visited this restaurant this week past week. This is a new addition to the (much needed) variety of world food in Porto. First off, I must applaud them on the decor, it's very unique and transports you to Asia. The menu is fusion of vietnamese and thai with lot and lots of options to choose from and the best part, it is vegetarian friendly! During this visit, I tried the Vegetarian steamed dumplings, the veggie rolls, the steamed eggplants and the seafood dumplings. All dishes were nicely executed and very tasty. One thing I will add in order to make it a totally good experience, is not make sure the waiters stay on top of their game, when we arrived, we waited a good time to have our order taken. Besides that, everything else went smoothly. Definitely a great addition to downtown Porto! read more

Details details details!!! Talk about being transported to a different place while never leaving Porto! Incredible fusion of Asian and Portuguese. Must get the sea bass bao!! Sweet/ spicy / crunch and soft it has it all. Love the detail and the ambiance of the restaurant. Coming in from the street at first glance you like hmm sushi counter no I'm good but walk a litter further to the back and you taken to a beautiful terrace with open roof and bar in the back. We got a lot of food and none of it disappointed. We spent more than average for Portugal but not bad for everything we got. Loved this meal. Delicious from start to end!
