Porto has no shortage of great food, and Flow is definitely high on the list. The ambiance ended up being one of our favorites from all our meals in Porto, and the food was nothing short of extraordinary. We were able to snag a reservation without really knowing what to expect and we definitely were not anticipating this level of elegance! We ended up having a three hour dinner because everything felt so comfortable, peaceful, and lovely. I cannot recommend the sliders with quail eggs on top enough. My husband had the Iberian pork and really enjoyed it, and I absolutely loved my octopus. It was probably some of the best I have ever had. For dessert we had cheesecake and it was just as divine. I usually save five stars for the really extraordinary experiences, but Flow is well deserving, even if rounded up a bit. The interior space is gorgeous. Modern and airy, tables are well spaced, and the decor is very muted and subtle, but rich. The service is amazing. We were a table of 8 and everyone who came to the table was so nice, helpful, friendly and accommodating. I'm sure waiters hate having to take pics of everyone, but ours were fantastic about it. But all that aside, the food is incredible. I had Iberico pork that was so succulent, seared nicely and roasted (I assume). We all shared some steak tartare, tuna tartare and an amazing cheeseboard. This was the only restaurant that we made a reservation at in Porto and it was good! Flow is definitely on the nicer side, you can tell they were thoughtful about the layout, decorations, lighting, and their menu! The dishes were unique and innovative (in my opinion). We had been eating around all day so we got smaller dishes, but I wish we had been able to order more to try. We did enjoy healthy portions of wine though! I really liked the ceviche, it was the right amount of acidic for me and a nice balance of flavors. My friend got the foie gras appetizer which I thought was a little weird, but I don't really like sweetness in my savory food... she seemed to like it though! The porco iberico was good too and my other friend enjoyed it! I would say the only negative thing (if you can call it that) was that it was really hard to find..? There wasn't very obvious signage out front so we walked past it literally 3 times before figuring out where the entrance was, which got us worried that we were going to miss our reservation. Dining at Flow is a must when in Porto! I'd say it was my favorite restaurant and we ate at a lot of really good places. It has a modern, upscale vibe with impeccable service. They have a wide variety on their menu, so there is something for everyone. And the food is AMAZING! We ordered a bunch of dishes to share including tuna ceviche, a dish with gambas and scallops, octopus, steak tartare, orecchiette with burrata, and an apple tart for dessert. We loved everything. Short version: get yourself a reservation and come here immediately. Long version...I think I just had a spiritual experience. The place is very cute and trendy and the attention to detail is remarkable...fun music, little tables in between the big ones for your bottles of wine/water, specialized utensils before every course. I sat down in front of the appetizer station and the chef happened to be standing there. Riu, marry me? Marya, you too? I got the shrimp ceviche and it was absolutely divine. I'm a consistency gal so I usually don't like ceviche but this was amazing. The little peppers, the sauce, amen. I didn't love what seemed to be fish mousse but that didn't stop me from eating everything else. Now for the spiritual experience...the seabass with asparagus risotto. The seabass is cooked so beautifully, with a nice crunch underneath. I'm usually anti-risotto (is it rice? Is it mashed potatoes???) but this, my gawd. Words can't express. I thought it would be asparagus flavored, but there were just pieces of it in the risotto and that made it literally perfect. Add that with the champagne saffron sauce and you'll fall out, in the best way. I promise. Also odd but noticeable, the fish stayed so hot and because it was placed on the risotto, so did the risotto. I love this. I need this again. Can you order twice in a restaurant, or only on cruise ships? Now now, Yelp said I had to get the pumpkin something dessert so I did. Picture a a warm, oozy, pumpkiny, cinnamony molten cake, add homemade whipped cream, fresh fruit, something crunchy (lol not sure what it was; I didn't even read the menu for this one) and you get dessert perfection. This is a really popular restaurant in Porto! It's definitely Americanized and has the modern, sleek sophisticated vibes inside. They offer reservations which is nice when you're on vacation and want good quality food! This place is definitely more touristy to eat at but still follows the Portuguese culture in that nothing is rushed and you can sit hours after your meal having conversation with your table. They have a huge menu so you'll find something to order. We started off with the tuna ceviche and it wasn't that great lol. It was too citrusy and was hard to finish. I got the veel cheek ravioli while my friends got the mushroom risotto and monkfish curry. My friend loved her monkfish curry and I thought my veal ravioli got too overwhelming the more I kept eating it. None of us usually order risotto because it sounds good on paper but when actually it doesn't taste as good. But for some reason the risotto is GREAT in Portugal. It's so flavorful! They had a good list of cocktails which we all liked. They really love passionfruit in Portugal and the drink I ordered had that. It was the Porto Star martini. My friends really liked it too that we all ordered that for our second round of drinks. I got a chicken dish and the chicken was white meat that was cooked perfectly, tender juicy and very flavorful-almost like a steak flavor. It had vegetables and sauce, but it didn't need sauce. Our server Genesis was top notch! Cocktails were great, I particularly loved my basil spritz. We had a couple of appetizers including the "bras" of pawns and scallops, tuna ceviche and the soft shell crab they were all so delicious. This was the most incredible place we ate in Porto! DEFINITELY get a reservation, that is key. It's swanky, but not stuffy, so pull out that fun attire that you packed but didn't really have a plan for. Every single thing we ate was fantastic. The service was impeccable. Would 100% go back there if in Porto again. Note: This is definitely a place where I would not say it's targeted for young kids. However, we had two that couldn't be, ahem, ditched in our AirBnB for the night. The staff was absolutely lovely and friendly, and did not treat them as annoying interlopers when, say, a stroller with a sleeping child was stationed at the end of our table. Also, I totally saw some parents out for dinner here with their elementary age kids (cutely dressed up for the occasion), so I think well-behaved kids (or parents with good entertainment/distraction plans) are totally appropriate. First night in Porto and we lucked out getting a table at this popular restaurant. Lovely interior space and wonderful service-- from the moment we stepped in till the end of our scrumptious meal! For appetizers, we had fish soup and a generous serving of beef tartare. For our main meal, hubby had osso bucco with risotto -- a definite favorite! I had the grilled octopus with black polenta cake-- so delicious! We topped it off with a glass of Callabriga vinho tinto (Douro Valley) and Quinta Dos Carvalhais Touriga Nacional (Dao región). We saved enough space for dessert-- a pumpkin mi-cuit with ricotta cream, which was excellently paired with a 20-year aged Ferreira tawny port. Highlight of our meal! Thank God I had on my leather jacket to hide my very casual graphic-t that I often wear to the gym, otherwise they might not have let me in this place. I had just come here after a days worth of walking all over the city, and I did not want to have to go back and forth from the Airbnb. Anyway the food here is amazing. I started with a watermelon cocktail (don't remember what it was made of) that was totally refreshing after that hike. Of course I ordered the foie gras because somehow I can never pass it down. It was delicious. It was grated over toasted buttery brioche buns. OMG. It melted like butter on hot bread. The entrée was veal cheek ravioli. I think there was port wine in the sauce with a good drizzle of balsamic glaze. Oh man, I've never had veal this good. I've never had ravioli this good! For dessert I had their almond cake with port wine sorbet. I figured I'ld have something traditionally Portuguese some point during this dinner. That port wine sorbet was so good. The cake was nice but underwhelming compared to the rest of the meal. I did like that it wasn't too sweet and made a nice balance with the sorbet. read more
