The homemade DanDan noodles were our favorite, which are served with ground pork in a spicy peanut sauce. We also got the three cup chicken which was so good, with a sweet, licorice-like glaze. Some other favorites were the black pepper chicken and the long hot chicken, if you enjoy spice. We had the ginger and scallion dish and was not our favorite, as the chicken had a unique consistency and was quite limp. Overall, good service and a relaxing ambiance in a bustling city.

On the second visit, I got the duck noodle soup and the beef stir fried noodles to go. I don't do a lot of takeout normally, but they did such a nice job packaging both my to go orders on the different days. I didn't think to take pictures of the to go orders, unfortunately; there was a piece of cardboard on the bottom so your food wouldn't slosh around, along with a side of chili oil. In terms of the food, everything was fantastic! It really comes down to your personal preferences and what sounds 'good' to you that day. Yes, it can get busy. Favorites were the pork kidney blossoms, the chongqing spicy chicken, the steamed sea bass with ginger, the sea bass in chili broth. Those were so good I'd get them again in a heartbeat; but I also feel like this is the kind of place where you can just randomly pick from the menu and you can't go wrong. On the flipside, because those dishes up there were so good, I actually thought the cold sesame noodles were just alright. They use a thinner more delicate noodle here that makes it much more sauce forward, but I feel I'm partial to thicker chewier noodles with spicy food. I want to stress that the noodles were tasty, but again, out of an excellent tasting menu we built for ourselves, it was the plain Jane of the bunch. Beyond that, they have some tasty baizhou (spelling?) that'll get you wasted while enjoying the food. Highly recommend you go with a large group. If you go with less than four people you will have food envy from all the tables who are sharing amazing dishes that your stomach just doesn't have room for.

This was my first time meeting her, but it felt like I have known her for some time. It's the consistency -- the service, cost, portion, and most importantly, the flavor. After my shift at work, I genuinely look forward to that first bite of my Dry Chili Pepper Tofu. (Note: if you only want smaller serving of their great, thick noodles, order $4 add-on as a side in place of rice with regular dish.) I always have leftovers to enjoy at home. Dumpling orders are large and shareable. (Always 6 or 8 pieces.) My fave when dining in is amazingly delicious and huge Fish Fillet in Hot and Sour Cabbage Broth. (That's best with rice side to help absorb broth.) So good and healthful to balance the dough density of whatever dumplings you might also order -- they're all great. When getting order to go (or delivered) I like Kung Pao Chicken; it travels well. Order added green veggie dish for sharing -- I lean toward Chinese Broccoli; you'll really want the balance with the delicious dumpling and noodle dishes. I used to be a big fan of the Han Dynasty in University City when I lived in that area, and when I…read morewas in the Penn's Landing area recently I decided to eat at the Old City Han Dynasty for old time's sake. However, I found that the meal didn't live up to what I remembered at the UCity Han Dynasty or the Sichuan food I've had at other spots. My partner and I ordered the dan dan noodles and double cooked pork belly to share, our longtime regular order. The portions were generous and prices were affordable, but both dishes fell short in some ways. The dan dan noodle sauce was mostly sesame-based with little of the chili heat I remembered, and there was only a bit of the ground pork topping. It left me wondering whether they hold off on the spice at this location due to the clientele, whether they changed the recipe, or whether it was just an off day. The pork in the double cooked pork was overcooked and tough, and the dish didn't have enough of the veggie components (leeks and peppers) to balance it out. Another minor nitpick - there was a World Cup game going on while we ate and the multiple downstairs TVs had the game on. The second floor where we were seated also had a nice big TV, yet it seemed to be left on a screensaver slideshow of random landscape photos. Would have been nice to watch the game! I was overall left feeling pretty meh about the meal. I'd give the UCity location another shot, but don't think I'd come back to the Old City one.
