Great customer service and I'm even more excited to try it. After devouring: Man. The wings are BOMB. The fries were crispy, not one fry was cold or soggy and the shrimp fried rice platter was BIG. For the portions I got and what I paid for, I'm definitely looking forward to my next order! Ima sleep good tonight!

My first takeout meal during the pandemic/COVID-19/Coronavirus crisis of 2020 (or however this…read moresurreal period ends up going down in history). Wednesday is stir fry night chez moi, and thid week felt like the right time to take a break from home-cooking to support a local restaurant. First time at Great Taste, and while not perfect I'd say it was pretty decent for Chinese takeout in Philadelphia. My partner got vegetable mei fun, which he described as "better than most." I debated getting Szechuan-style tofu (aka mapo tofu) but decided I really wanted something more vegetable-focused, so I got mixed vegetables with Hunan sauce, and requested tofu as an addition. The tofu was the mistake. So insanely deep-fried and shriveled up that I genuinely wondered if some pieces were actually chicken. The vegetables and the sauce were actually really good though, so maybe next time I'll request that the tofu be steamed, or just not ask for tofu at all. Or...Szechuan-style tofu? Definitely a decent pick for West Philly, either way.

For example, egg foo young, chinese style BBQ spareribs, yat mein, sparerib tips to name a few. I always order the chicken egg foo young and the best part is the gravy, rich and flavorful, I can't get enough of it. I also love the BBQ ribs and I must have extra chinese mustard with it. I really like the pan fried dumplings, just right with the crisp outter dough and a gooey pork filling. I also enjoy the pork yat mein which has the aforementioned delicious gravy, tender slices of roast pork, noodles and chopped raw onions. The people at the Happy Wok are indeed..... happy and polite. So far everything i have ordered is correct, never had a problem, delivery is fast and courteous and the driver is like an old friend stopping over for a visit. Prices are very reasonable and I can't wait to explore more of the menu.

I wasn't originally planning to order the tea-smoked duck, but the staff recommended it, so we decided to give it a try -- and I'm so glad we did! The tea-smoking flavor was really well done. You get that lovely smoky aroma right away, but it wasn't too salty or dry. There was also plenty of meat, and once we started eating, it was hard to stop. The more we ate, the more flavorful it became. The maoxuewang (spicy blood curd stew) and mala roast duck are also dishes I order almost every time I come here. The maoxuewang is spicy, fragrant, and packed with ingredients, while the roast duck soaks up all the flavorful broth and is incredibly savory. The konjac seemed to be house-made -- soft and pleasantly chewy, with tender, silky beef that was full of flavor. It was especially good with rice. We also tried the green beans stir-fried with preserved vegetables, and they had a nice crisp texture with lots of savory flavor. Definitely a great dish with rice. Overall, this meal reminded me why this is such a longtime Sichuan favorite in Philly. Everything we ordered was flavorful and well-executed, and my Sichuan friend gave it her approval too! If you're craving Sichuan food, this is a place worth checking out.

Ordering is done online using a QR code to access the menu, which is pretty convenient, especially with a code for each table. Service was pretty fast, and we also didn't feel rushed to get going, it was all pretty chill overall. Water is in a fridge in the back along w/ the sodas, and it was good to have that pretty accessible. I went there to get bottles a few times and the server didn't say anything, so I assume that was fine. As far as the dishes we ordered, also helpful that they could adjust the spice level, we ordered mapo tofu, scallion pancakes, young chow fried rice, fried fish, chonqing chicken, double cooked pork, and cumin beef. All of it was tasty; some thought the cumin flavor very strong, but I thought it was great. I liked not only the "main" parts of the dishes but also the peppers and onions that were served alongside, picked at them as we wrapped up the meal. I would definitely be open to returning for another meal.
