I had been interested in music…read moreproduction for years and had toyed around some with friends who knew how to use Ableton and Logic, but I had zero actual knowledge of how to use those programs when I started the class. Ableton was the one I was more interested in, so I chose that class. Anthony, the instructor, couldn't have been better. He's friendly, very knowledgeable and takes his time explaining everything. I needed to know how to use Ableton from the most minor tasks on up, so it was great that he explained every feature and option in the interface, at least all the ones you need to have a working knowledge to start creating music. In 5 weeks I went from no knowledge to now being able to produce tracks from scratch, write drum beats, sample songs, etc. I feel like what I learned in the class would've taken me so much longer to learn on my own or from tutorials, and there'd have been no way for me to know it as well as I do now, without being able to ask questions and get answers right away from an expert. If you're considering it, do it. I'm enrolling in Level 2 soon.

I have loved working at RWS Studios this week. I've been using a smaller studio to work on a writing project and I could not be happier! The piano was beautiful and sounded great. The studio was also equipped with a nice amp, electric piano (MIDI compatible), and full drum set. A full band could actually rehearse there. A door to one of the large studios was left open and so I was able to see inside and it was huge -- I imagined it would be the perfect place to rehearse a large show or hold dance auditions. It's literally a 20-25 minute express train ride from 42nd street, the location/neighborhood looks safe and clean, and there are stores and restaurants within one or two blocks. Definitely I look forward to working here again. Thank you Chris and RWS Studios for creating this great creative space.
