I brought in my vintage wedding set for sizing (that was a huge mess because of 2 different…read moreprevious jewelers). I really didn't think it could be fixed but I was wrong. This was my grandmother's originally and is nearly 70 years old. The prongs were blobs of gold barely holding in the diamonds, the rings were soldered together crooked & it was slightly too small. I can't overstate how PERFECT my wedding set came back. The jeweler made them look literally brand new. I'm blown away by the excellence of the work done on them. He also sized my newer engagement ring after another jeweler had sized it way too big. It also looks brand new again. I want to mention that all 3 shanks on these rings have a lot more gold than when I brought them. That is something that I have *never* had happen w/ other jewelers before. The price for all 3 rings was around $260. I paid almost $200 to get my newer engagement ring sized ONLY (and it was the wrong size!) by a different jeweler in Grass Valley who shall not be named but beware of the "S" jeweler in GV. I had a quote to fix only the prongs on the vintage set & it was $75 per crown, which would have been $600. I wasn't even charged separately for the prong repair by Utopian Stone. Also, Diane (co owner) and I talked for a long time while she checked out a ring I wanted looked at, and she showed me all kinds of great stones and jewelry. We had a great time & I really enjoyed our convo. They are the best in Nevada County hands down. I will never go anywhere else. Thank you for fixing my rings! I haven't been able to wear the wedding set for over 10 years, and I'm thrilled. I cannot say enough about the quality of this work. I will be back!!

Terry is the owner, and he is very nice, very professional, and most importantly an excellent craftsman and artist. He not only worked with me to design my ring, (and it was a pretty complicated design requiring laser cutting on the side, and the acquisition of a pretty unusual gem), he went out of his way to educate me and genuinely listened to my wants and was as excited as I was with the final results. He doesn't just do this for a living, he loves what he does and his work shows it. He was up front about costs and helped work within my budget respectfully and honestly, (other businesses have been condescending when asked about pricing details). I would absolutely recommend coming to take a look at the gold jewelry he has on display, but I would especially recommend him if you are looking to get something custom made. He is honest, provides excellent quality, and will listen to what YOU want done and make sure that it is right. Thanks Terry, you're the best!

It was a gold "L" shaped nose ring with a clear stone. I really liked it because it was small and fit my nose perfectly. A few days ago the stone fell out of my nose ring and I panicked because I have only had a gold nose ring and didn't want to try silver because I was scared I would get an infection. My first instinct was to visit Nurmahal to see if they had something similar to my old nose ring. Luckily they did! I found almost the exact some one for $35. There is plenty of parking and the service is very friendly. I will be returning any time I need a new nose ring.

We were making a few purchases, and then our grandma started feeling overwhelmed, so she told us she wanted to go sit in the car and left. There was an older man, who we later found out was the owner, and a younger man working there. While we were making our last purchase, the younger guy brought out a ring and asked if it was ours. We said no and explained that we had seen it in the display, but it was not ours. They kept insisting that it was ours. The younger guy then started saying that the ring was damaged and dented and that it wasn't theirs. Out of nowhere, the younger guy told us to get out and said they weren't selling us anything. He then accused our grandma of stealing the ring and replacing it with an old one. What was even more shocking was that he hadn't even looked at the camera footage before making that accusation. We were completely shocked and asked him to explain what he was accusing us of, but he kept refusing to talk to us and just kept telling us to leave. The younger guy then went to check the cameras. After checking the camera footage, he still refused to come back out and apologize or even explain what happened. The owner also went to check the cameras and continued taking the younger guy's side instead of actually talking to us about the situation. We kept trying to get an explanation because we knew we had not stolen anything. We even brought our grandma back inside to show them that she had been in the car, but the younger guy still never came back out and neither of them admitted they were wrong. While the younger guy was gone, the owner made a crazy gesture toward him and basically said that the younger guy was crazy and that we should just buy it. We were completely confused because we were still trying to understand why we had been accused of stealing in the first place. At that point, we immediately wanted to cancel our purchases. The owner refused and basically said it was fine and that we should just buy it. My aunt had already purchased a nose ring for $157, but the guy rudely handed her back $155. Earlier, he had also told us that he does not lower his prices at all, so we questioned him about the missing $2. There was also a woman there who questioned the owner and asked him, if he was the owner, why he was allowing the younger guy to speak to us and treat us that way. The owner continued ignoring us. At one point, he even wouldn't let us leave to go check on our grandma because he had to press something to open the door. What made the whole situation even worse was that, at the end, they mocked us and basically said they have been in business for 20 years and nothing was going to happen to them. This whole experience was extremely disrespectful and upsetting, especially because we were there simply trying to take our elderly grandma somewhere she had been wanting to visit. To be accused of stealing, refused an explanation, ignored, and then mocked is completely unacceptable. I highly recommend thinking twice before shopping here. We went in expecting a normal jewelry-shopping experience and left feeling humiliated and disrespected.

All the art work can be purchased and she also provides special requests. She can do personal portraits, photos, clothing items and turn them into something personal, unique and special for you.
