I love Abstrakt because the selection is always a mix of solid basics and fun seasonal styles. Abstrakt sells nice clothes and accessories, and definitely fits the boutique vibe. A bonus is that the clothing is stylish but doesn't feel too "trendy," so in my opinion the pieces will have a longer closet life. Staff have always been courteous and helpful to me. I really like the clothes in this store. There is a wide variety of styles and varying price points which I appreciate. Unfortunately, my last few visits have been less than ideal. The sales associate that has been there for the past year or so is consistently rude and today was a little over the top. She told my mother-in-law it was busy so she'd need to share a dressing room with me and my friend. I personally don't mind, but earlier my MIL had expressed she wanted privacy! So she proceeded to throw open the curtain while my friend was undressed without announcing herself to add clothes to the dressing room. Lovely. So I went to purchase a few things but asked if she had a different piece of clothing I wanted as the seam was coming undone. She disappeared for awhile and had hand-stitched the article! Well she failed to see the other part that was coming undone and was very pushy that I should buy it and she would fix it while I was running errands...but both seams were such that a hand-sewn job was visible. It was really quite strange to say the least. I had been hoping after my previous encounters that that the sales associate would be phased out, but today was too much. It's just too bad because I REALLY love their clothes and everyone else I have encountered there! read more

Went in there with an out of town friend this past Saturday, and the lady working could not have been more rude. And believe it or not this happened several months ago, however I thought I would give it another shot. This shop has much potential however I will never purchase a single item there. The owners daughter is so rude. She feels entitled to treat customers so rudely because her mommy owns the business. She sits at the front counter, does not greet customers as they walk into the business and never offers a kind word at checkout. I will save my money and spend it where I am appreciated. read more

My husband and I go to Nevada City every year for his BD in June We ride our motorcycles up every year. This is a a place where we have been going for the last 8 years.. Abstrakt is my favorite place to go. I love everything about this place this store. I hope that one day they have a website where we can buy clothes on line. This is a sweet boutique featuring very feminine and current labels such as Darling. The prices are competitive and they had great sales. Not just the out of season items. The aesthetics of the shop is sort of a shabby chic feel that uses "weathered" cabinets and shelves to feature belts and accessories. Was shopping in Nevada City today and had to stop here as usual when I'm in the area. They always have such cute stuff, but their customer service is terrible. No one never greeted or asked my sister and my adult niece if we needed help. I made a large purchase and the woman ringing me up never spoke to me except to ask debit or credit. No hello, no thank, no please come again. I don't think I will ever return and I have spent a lot of money in this store. read more

What a great store! I stumbled across is wile walking down Broad Street in Nevada City and was very pleasantly surprised. They carry some great brands, like Hard Tail, but also other clothing items that are all super cute and very reasonably priced. The also have super cute accessories (belts, jewelry, bags, and more). If you are over a size 10, be sure to stay away from this store. I have been in this store many times, and I have always been ignored. Friends of mine have had similar experiences. I love this place so much, I would actually drive the 3 hours it would take me from the SF Bay Area just to see what new stuff is there. I loved the vibe of this boutique women's clothing and accessories store. Like someone said, the merchandise is somewhat similar to Anthropologie and I was similarly surprised at how reasonable and welcoming the prices were. It's got the bohemian chic feel and you can find scarves, dresses, belts, hats, bags there that I haven't seen in other boutique stores. So it carries some very interesting new brands that I haven't run across. I absolutely love it. I even heard another customer compliment the store clerk at the time how much she loved it and she was also from the Bay Area, so I jumped on that bandwagon to say I feel the same way. Definitely worth it! It was my first time visiting Nevada City with my Mom for Mother's Day...and it's such a cute quaint town...it's a must visit. I love the small town feel of it and the air smelled of pine trees. I will go again! read more

The owner lives down the street from me, and I've introduced myself twice, but it's like I'm invisible every time I walk in the door -- not just to her but to any staffers working there. I have been in this store many times and spent good money on a lot of their clothing. I like the atmosphere of the store and how it is decorated. The prices are pretty reasonable. I have noticed that prices have been going up in the past year or so, which is a bummer. It is such a luxury to have a store with cute clothes and affordable prices when you live in a town like ours. The biggest complaints I have about this store is the customer service. I recently went into the store to purchase some gifts and was completely ignored by BOTH ladies working there. I was standing at the counter to check out for 7 minutes before someone acknowledged me. The worst part was that they were not even busy, they were just dressing a manikin. I also called recently asking if they had a certain product, before I made the trek to town, and the lady told me she "was too busy to help me" and HUNG UP on me!!! I understand you can be busy, but to hang up on someone is the RUDEST thing you could do in customer service. Next time, take the persons name and number and tell them you will call them back when you have time or things slow down. The owner and her mom that work there have been so rude to me as well. the only reason why I kept going back was for the cute clothes. Such a pity. I recommend people there all of the time, but I will not be recommending it now. I hope thee owner and her workers learn some manners and get some better customer service in there. You just cant treat people like that. read more
