The sales dude was pretty helpful but I guess the store moved or just opened so some stuff was waiting to be moved... i dont know... all i know is we would have bought stuff but there wasnt a lot of seasonally appropriate wear. He said that should change come spring. A lot of the clothes reminded me of 50 and 60s mobsters, which I think is sooo hot. There were some neat lil knick knacks there too. Watches, bookends, gym bag inserts(which dude man says ladies come in all the time and buy them for their sons in school). They even had a hair and skin care line for men that I have never heard of... but it smelled and felt great!! store is good for guys in their 20s to 40s.

I'm not sure exactly when they shut down, but I'm pretty sure it was in December of 2009, as I remember getting some Christmasy decorations, prop magnets, and such. To this day, I still wear, cherish, and use many of the things I bought there. Mainly, some jeans, a Vintage Red jacket, a Japanese print silk tie, my silver Hideo Wakamatsu backpack, and of course my Ambiguous "Yuki" t-shirt that they had me model for their newspaper ad. Grass Valley really needs more places like this to support guys who want to enjoy contemporary, fitted, slick city fashion while shopping local in this small mountain town. Everything else is either too young, too old, or too cheap.

Lol I was amazed with how clean and well organized this location was! The one where we live went out of business a number of years ago, but when it was in business it was always dark, dingy, and kind of a mess. This location seems to be really well maintained. The staff was friendly and helpful, the lines were kept to a minimum and the shelves were all well stocked and organized which is amazing for the day after Thanksgiving. Shout out to the employees of this location for keeping the store so nice!

I got there right at 11am and was greeted by a friendly lady in the returns department. The return was easy and the credit went back to the card. I did not have alot of time so i perused the store and saw some clothes that had been deeply discounted ( near the shoe area). They had a nice display of clothes and shoes. The perfume and makeup section looked really nice as well. They had great discounts on luggage and backpacks. To the left of the store there is a separate JC Pennys building that carries mens clothes and childrens apparel. In that building they also carry some appliances. I will definitrly be back to get some stocking stuffers!

They had some really nice brand name clothing items for decent prices. The customer service was wonderful! The employees were very friendly and easy to chat with. The manager went above and beyond by bringing me a shopping cart when she saw my arms full of the clothing I was finding and sorting through! One small disappointment to me was that the identity protection roller stamp I bought was not pre-filled with ink. I would have preferred if it was. I think it will come in handy, but to be honest I have not used it yet, because it wasn't filled with any ink (it comes in the box so the customer can fill it up). All in all: If you are in the area, or live close by, give it a try! You will find some nice items for sale. I posted a few photos of items they had.

Two years ago I needed a small 4 or 5 drawer dresser, nothing fancy, to be used in my home workshop, for various tools, etc. I walked in and within 2 minutes found the very thing I was looking for, and for a price that was quite reasonable. After two years, I decided that the workshop needed a wider look, with more space for everything, and that the tools and other items I kept in the drawers, needed to be seen so I didn't have to hunt for something. So, I removed the things in the drawer, put the small dresser in my car, and took it back to Sweet Life Thrift. Carolyn Maginot is the owner, and was most gracious to accept the dresser to resell. The shop is small but has lots of rooms of men and womens' clothes, nicknacks, hats, and more, that would tickle anyone's fancy (small furniture pieces, jewelry, antiques, etc.. The parking lot is just up the corner on the right from East Main street and Hughes Rd. She has a sign up every day it is open. If you are curious if she has what you might be looking for, the shop phone number is 530-802-5288. Supporting our small businesses and meeting the owners is good for Grass Valley. The prices at Sweet Life are as competitive and even cheaper than GoodWill. Give it a try and I don't think you will be disappointed.
