Updating my review which was 5 stars: I've been in this shop several times since my first review. I'm now a local, and this shop carries free people which I love. So I always stop in when I'm downtown. At least the last three times I've stopped in this shop the simple employees are SO CATTY . Especially the last time, this heavy blonde cashier looked me up and down, like Regina George, when I walked in and was so disgusting! I am a fortunate woman, and that was such a turn off I walked right out. I mean, how rude! No hello or even an attempt to make a sale! I left and dropped a stack on magnolia pearl and Johnny was across the street at Native Wren, which the women there are SO WONDERFUL! Seeing the newer reviews it seems this is the trend at la te da nowadays. Other than the free people most of the brands are wholesale with a high markup, that's just not for me. Especially the "oh peasant" attitudes. From one small business owner to another, you'll get alot farther just being nice. It's truly that simple. read more

Very cute boutique on Mill Street in Grass Valley! With my birthday coming up, i am looking for some cute summer clothes. This place has alot of what i am looking for. Summer dresses are classy and well made. It can be a bit pricey, but you are paying for quality! Unique items and clothing. I like that it is woman owned! Good job! read more

I have never been treated so poorly in my life. I went into La Te Da today with my kids. One of them received a gift certificate and was looking for pajamas. Another one of my kids was looking at jewelry for a friend. They were told to leave immediately or to come back with a parent. I decided to go inside and look around while the kids looked at what they were wanting to purchase and before I had taken 10 Steps in, the blond who I assume is the owner yelled "you all need to leave this store right now, including YOU mom". She threatened to call the police. I have no idea why she thought this was ok. I have heard rumors of the lady being rude from Other community members but never did I actually experience it. My kids are very sweet, well behaved, homeschoolers who go down town often. They have been told many times they are the only teenagers allowed in the surrounding stores because they are well liked and can be trusted. It seems as though they are being clumped together with other teenagers who may cause problems which is not fair to them. A few min after leaving the store 2 different ladies approached me at separate times to apologize for the ladies actions and said this was a pattern with her and mentioned how embarrassed she was for her. I will absolutely not step foot in this business again and will share my experience time and time again. Nobody should ever be treated this way. After reading through so many reviews it appears we are not the only ones who have been treated this way. read more

Came in as a buyer and left angry... the sales clerk told me and my fellow buyers to "wrap it up" after about 6 minutes in the dressing room. I would appreciate if workers were kinder, and treater younger people with the same amount of respect. Thank you. read more

The owner of this store is oblivious. I was shopping in downtown grass valley and had never been into La Te Da, so decided to check it out. Upon entering the woman behind the counter (turned out is the owner) was talking extensively with some man. A blouse caught my interest and I picked it up and looked around for things to match, but couldn't find anything I liked. I put the top down and walked out, and into the mint down the way, where I purchased several super cute things. When I walked out of the mint, the man who was talking to the owner of La Te Da had a cell phone in hand, recording me () and asked me to go back to La Te Da and show him where the top was that I was walking around the store with. I walked into La Te Da and walked right up to the blouse. The man turned out to be the owners husband. Neither of them apologized to me! They were both oblivious to what was happening in their store when I was in there because they were caught up in their conversation and instead of paying attention, they assumed that I shoplifted. I spent about $300 in the mint, and that could have been their store that I spent my money in, but bc of their terrible attentiveness, and not to mention very cheap clothing, I will never support them. read more

Cute clothes but the salespeople and owner have such a snobby air about them, not worth going in and being bothered by it. Such a downer after visiting the surrounding stores like Yuba Blue and Mint, where the salespeople are so welcoming and friendly. This isn't the Bay Area, honey--it's GV!! My recommendation is to keep on walking over to the other stores that have just as cute of clothes but won't make you feel like you are "unworthy". wink isn't getting any more of my money, I can tell you that much. And btw, not that this should matter, but I am a very stylish and put together person, and as a matter of fact got several compliments from the other shops yesterday when I again experienced snubbing at La Te Da. Absolutely everything went well. I bought a lot because I needed a lot. Service was extraordinary. I left feeling smart and satisfied with... 1 flowery long sundress; denim skirt, shirt, and dress; A scarf and small shoulder bag, 2 sets of p. J.s A striped shirt and more. Very very happy shopper! If only the buyers for La Te Da could sell online! I live in Santa Cruz and do not get to Grass Valley often. read more

I just came back from Grass Valley, love to shop there! I travel up your at least 4 times a year with my girlfriends. We gladly spend quite a bit of money throughout the town and end with a nice lunch. I really like how La Te Da looks and what they carry BUT I NEVER feel welcomed. No "Hi, welcome" How can I help, etc.. I was looking at a coat, an employee who may have been the owner, reached in front of me to grab a coat behind the one I was looking at. The rack tipped over which she caught BUT never did I get an excuse me or I'm sorry!! Manners 101!!! What I did get was, "what size are you looking for!" cluelessness makes for bad business! I have been in the service industry for many, many years and would frankly have been fired or fried employees who act like snobs with no manners! I have bought several items from them over the years and can certainly afford their merchandise. I will NO longer contribute to an unfriendly business.. Kindness, friendliness , sprinkled with gratitude is what stains a customers brain. if you're an employee there, please know that you will not be able to act like this at any other service industry job. Being nice not only makes others feel good, it leaves you feeling better too. read more

I purchased shorts that I normally would not spend that kind of money but fell in love. I washed them one time and what was a bright canary yellow is now a drab yellow. I took them in yesterday to see if there is anything they would do. The staff is not able to make any decisions and the owner is out for two weeks so they told me to come back. Not sure if there is anything she can do but she is the only one that could make that call is what was shared. Doesn't sound promisin. I try to stay local and support my community but these same shorts are sold at Nordstrom, same price, and I would have no issue taking them back there as they stand behind their product. By the time I am able to even talk with the owner summer is nearly over and the shorts I fell in love with will be put away till next year. The return policy has a lot to be desired and will definitely detour me from shopping here in the future. read more

I LOVE THIS STORE!!! Granted, their regularly-priced items can be a bit on the expensive side, but if you shop the sale rack, you can find some amazing stuff. I don't even live in grass valley, but everytime I'm there I stock up on tank tops ($10!!) and anything else I can find on sale. The staff is amazing, always very helpful and never judgemental on how you look. They even wrap all your purchases in tissue paper and walk your bag around the counter to hand it to you personally. Just had a great shopping experience with my 18 year old. We went in looking for jeans and got some much needed help pulling sizes and styles. So worth every penny! Just had a great interaction with the store's owner. Purchased a cute top (sadly, much too large) yesterday but didn't ask the return policy until after she had rung me up (final sale on sale items!). She graciously allowed me to exchange the top for store credit because she didn't let me know the policy before I had made my purchase. I really appreciated the great service. Cute shop that always has tempting window displays. Heavy on items from Tulle and Lucky Brand. Clothes and accessories (and lately more shoes -- yay!) are a little younger/on trend that most of the other clothing shops in town. read more

If I could give a 3.5 star rating I would. I used to absolutely love this store (back in 2008, 2009) but for the past year or so the clothes they've been buying have veered to a different style. Basically they are no longer as hip as they used to be. I would have classified this store as a place for the 25-35 age range of shopper and now it is more like 35+. The fashions are a little less trendy and they are attracting an older clientele too. Boo! There are so few places for young, hip, mamas to shop around here and now there's one less. It's still possible to find one or two pieces I'd wear but the store isn't packed with those kinds of styles anymore. I hope they see the light soon and realize there is too much competition for them in the older category just down the street. read more

This is my favorite boutique in Grass Valley. It's a definite go to place to find just about anything! They have recently moved to a larger space. It is absolutely beautiful! There is a huge variety, everything from a last-minute getaway, to a night on the town. The owner, Becky stocks many different brands and tries to accommodate a decent range of price points. If you are looking for a wardrobe change, but have no idea where to start, the staff is very helpful without being overly aggressive. You can walk out of there with an entire outfit, including jewelry and shoes! It's a one stop shop. read more

La Te Da is a wonderful place to wander around in, especially to look at fashion ideas for the bohemian dresser. The sales are great (they are the only part I can afford) and I can always find something really cute on sale. They carry Lucky Brand clothing which is definitely one of my favorite brands. I absolutely LOVE this store! The owner is amazingly helpful and will give you an honest opinion; she wont just try to sell to sell. The clothes are high quality and so fun and fashionable.
