I found a gold veined piece of quartz in a Grass Valley parking lot. I happened to be going to Redding to see my Mom. I took this piece to a jeweler that Mom had used before. I'm not real sure she knew exactly what I had, her off of $40 was ridiclous! I took it home. I then came home to Grass Valley, did some research and was referred to La Cache in Nevada City, CA. I took my piece to Jim and he was very interested. He inspected it and offered me $150.00. A far cry from the Redding jeweler. I was happy to accept his truly generous offer. We have since moved to Redding but I am about to return to Jim with a bag full of items with hopes he can remodel or buy some of them. Yes I would travel 3 hours to deal with Jim. I rarely write positive reviews, but this store was outstanding. We dropped off my father's wedding to have it resized for my fiancee. We both agreed that it was more meaningful for him to wear my beloved deceased father's wedding ring than something store-bought. The ring has small intricate details that circles part of the ring with several types of precious metals. He had to cut the ring and add 1/8" to the circumference. The ring came out like it was brand new and you can't tell that it had been resized. Plus, it was less expensive than the original quote. Also, when he called, he said it would be ready in a few days. But when we told them that we would be in Nevada City in a few hours, he said that he would move us to his next project so we wouldn't have to make another trip. We picked up the ring and couldn't be happier. This will be my go to place for repairs. They also have stunning jewelry that I plan to buy someday soon. read more

I love this jewelry store. This review is past due. I found it via Yelp reviews and could. It have been more pleased with the quality of service! My fiancé and I were "browsing" for rings before our appointment at the courthouse for our marriage license. We were greeted and the whole experience was pressure free and relaxing. We found our rings and expected the sizing to take some time so we figured we would just come back to get them. To our surprise we were told they would be ready in an hour. Perfect...we were going to run to the courthouse and swing by on the way back. While at the courthouse, due to covid, we decided to just get married right then...totally not part of the days plans but that is another story ;) It was an unplanned but amazing day and part of the memories will always include stopping at this sweet little jewelry store. read more

The owner is very pretentious. I went in to talk about possibly making a necklace from my rings that I could no longer wear. And I stated that the rings were sentimental, not necessarily valuable, and he proceeded to tell me it wasn't worth my money. He acted like I was wasting his time to even ask. Wonderful and inviting shop with lots of sparkly things to look at that meet every price point and budget. Beautiful opal earrings were under $40 and the absolutely gigantic 15(!) carat pink topaz ring was under $4k! They specialize in estate jewelry with no two things alike or ordinary. And with Jim being a licensed goldsmith, he often reworks and combines pieces into new and unique creations. This is the only jewelry store I'll go to from now on. I lost my wedding ring in a restaurant in Alaska and was extremely fortunate that the person who found it turned it in to the manager.
