My favorite sushi spot in town. The service is great and you can sit at the bar while they make your rolls
If you're looking for a sushi spot that delivers on freshness, flavor, and intimate vibes, look no further than BluWave Sushi. We actually found this gem right here on Yelp -- and wow, did it deliver. We arrived right at 5 PM when they opened for dinner. The hostess asked if we had a reservation (we didn't), but graciously offered us seats at the bar with the understanding that we could wrap up by 5:45 due to a 6:00 reservation. Totally reasonable -- and honestly, more than enough time for us to enjoy every bite. We kicked things off with the crab rangoon (6-8 pieces, but who's counting?). They came out hot and crispy with that perfectly warm, cheesy center. We devoured them in record time. Absolute must-try. Now let's talk sushi. Everything that hit our table was incredibly fresh and beautifully prepared. I ordered the Bluzilla Roll and let me tell you... PERFECTION. Each bite was balanced, flavorful, and satisfying. I was genuinely sad when I realized I had eaten my last piece -- that kind of sad where you consider ordering it all over again. The restaurant itself is small, but it's the details for me -- attentive service, thoughtful presentation, and quality that speaks for itself. Next time I'm in Tampa, they are definitely at the top of my list.
Sushi was on the expensive side, I wish I could say it was worth it but it was drenched in some sort of sauce that confused my taste buds... Seating arrangement was rather uncomfortable I felt like other people at the adjacent tables were dining with me Our waiter was friendly and full of energy while providing fast service Crab Rangoon 3/10 Sushi 4/10
I was attracted to this place because they have pretty good happy hour deals! Buy one get one and even on the weekends which is huge! I ordered to-go which was a very easy process. I will also say that they charge an extra 3% for credit card so if you don't want that added, bring cash or a debit card. Overall, I was fairly disappointed by the food because I had high expectations with all the good reviews. We ordered the spicy tuna, Big boss, and Tampa Bay Raw roll. The rice on each roll was dried out and didn't taste very fresh. The texture is off-putting and made it hard to get through the rolls. The spicy tuna roll was fairly average - similar to sushi you would get at fresh market or Publix. The Big Boss had a lot of fish but the dried rice and stretchy seaweed texture was throwing me off. Also, the kewpie mayo is a little too overpowering and takes over the entire flavor profile. The Tampa Bay roll was the best of the 3 rolls, it was good with lots of fish but still probably not something that I would go out of my way for.
When I tell you this place is fantastic, it truly is! This spot is a hidden gem in the Tampa Bay Area and I need more people to know about it! The food is incredible, the service is out of this world, and the vibes are top notch. Everything I tried is so incredibly fresh and I love the fact that it's BYOB so you can drink whatever your heart desires while eating-- with no corkage fee which is . You can tell that a lot of time and effort is put into their creations and with the way everything tastes, you need to check them out!

I was given a complimentary cucumber salad which was light and refreshing. My main dishes were fresh and OMG so delicious. I had the dynamite mussels and Tsunami Roll. Both of my plates were cleaned in no time. I love how they encourage you to BYOB to enjoy with your meal. I tried the Lychee Japanese Soda for the first time and it was delicious as well. I can't wait to come back and tell my friends about this new spot that I've tried. Kudos to the chef

I love the sushi here! The White Truffle Salmon is a must-try. I see why it's called BluWave--they have a unique blue wasabi sauce. The sushi and sashimi are high quality. The service was also spectacular. The staff made sure we had everything we needed and checked to see if we liked our food. Since raw fish isn't for everyone, it was nice that they asked. Overall, a great experience!

Just go.... Delicious, fresh, unique sushi rolls. Very quaint establishment and wonderful staff. BYOB. We ordered the Tampa Bay Raw Roll and Dragon Roll and could not decide which we preferred. We can't wait to come back.
Such a hole in the wall, I'm so lucky to have finally tried it. Place is tiny inside and yet my friends (party of 7) decided to take up all the seating inside. Staff was beyond friendly to accommodate us and provided greats service. There's still a cute bar too to fit about 10 or so. BYOB is honestly so fun and clutch to have no corking fee. They provided a complimentary cucumber salad to start which was delicious! For rolls, highly recommend the dragon roll - I got mine with salmon. So fresh with a perfect crunch. My friend got the bluvilla with eel (which I usually don't like) and I absolutely loved it! Only downside I found through the whole night is that the rolls weren't served with ginger :( Fair prices, unique small business, to die for sushi. Will definitely be back!
Loved this restaurant! We sat at the sushi bar and the chef was really engaging and nice. He gave us a delicious seaweed salad to start and the White Truffle Salmon which was AMAZING. So fresh and unique flavor. For our sushi rolls we had the BlueZilla roll and they added blue sauce to the roll which makes sense for the name of the restaurant. It was absolutely great!

In area and craving sushi, decided on this little hole in the wall and it did not disappoint. The seared Tuna tataki was our favorite but we didn't eat anything that wasn't outstanding. And even better, we stopped by at Happy hour and got a discount on our BOGO hand roll. NOTE: This is a BYOB establishment so come prepared. read more

I don't understand how they can claim to have the "best sushi in Tampa" based on the sign out front. To put it bluntly, this was lower quality than most grocery store sushi -- and I've genuinely had much better sushi from grocery stores. The only things I enjoyed were the edamame and the matcha, which are both fairly simple to prepare. Even then, the tea we ordered was borderline cold. As for the sushi itself, everyone at our table had the same issues: the rice was hard and dried out, there was far too much rice, and the pieces were so oversized that they were difficult to eat in one bite. The flavor overall was disappointing, and nobody at our table finished their sushi because it was simply not enjoyable. The ambiance also felt off. There was very limited seating -- just two tables cramped into a corner -- and the surrounding area felt somewhat sketchy when we arrived. In terms of service, the staff were friendly, but inattentive. We repeatedly had to ask for basic things: silverware, soy sauce, wasabi, and ginger should have been provided with the sushi without prompting. Overall, I'm sorry to say this was a very disappointing experience and not somewhere I would return to or recommend. read more

Ordered from DoorDash- utterly disappointing. The roll had a teal color look- not a color you want to see with sushi. And tasted awful. The crunchies on top were soggy. Tasted like it was in a fridge for days. Cucumber Krab salad was all cucumber and no Krab. Would not recommend. read more

Super cozy restaurant with a sushi bar with an amazing staff & even better food!! The Pork Gyoza & Krab Rabgoons were great appetizers & then the hand crafted sushi rolls blew us away. We also took advantage of the BYOB and staff was awesome enough to chill my wine for me! My partner is not a huge raw/sushi person and enjoyed every bit. We will be back! read more
Enjoyed BluWave Sushi and super fresh too! Apparently, the chef came from Noble Rice too! It is pretty small inside and only has two real tables and the rest of the seating is at the bar. Has a cool ambiance. I don't remember what sushi I ordered because I told the chef to surprise us with whatever rolls and it did no disappoint. We also ordered the truffle salmon which was their monthly specials and WOW it was so good. I'd come back again and the price is right! They should have happy hour in the future loll. read more

OKAY SO. Don't let the 3 star stop you. This place has some pros. Firstly, I'd like to state I LOVE sushi. Like got it tatted on my arm type level. I really love nigiri, maki, and sashimi. So I try to sort through alot of places in Tampa hoping to find the 'one'. Below is simply my opinion, although this place has a lot of high reviews. To each their own. PROS: - music was great. EDM. Vibes. - bring your own booze. Love that! - complementary snack - kind service - fish was fresh and tasty CONS: - menu does no list prices. A huge huge deduction for me. I hate that about this place. Makes you feel like you can't fully enjoy it, or they can charge you whatever.. lol. - pricing. It's like $9 for a hand roll here. $12 for a maki roll. 9$ for kani salad, which was imitation crab, avocado, on a literal bowl of lettuce.. lol. Otherwise, location is great if you live in SOG. Very small place, but if you're like many in south Tampa with no worries just swiping without knowing your cost on items, go for it! Better off with Sakana read more

Keira, Kong, Keira, And Adam are 10s across the board. Their hospitality is like no other. We sat at the bar and had a great experience. I was able to customize my roll and chef cooked. It was a Tampa Roll with a hint of chili flakes, lemon, and cooked eel on top. It was delicious. They were such a blast to talk to. Plenty of parking out front and a nice spot to visit before a night out in tampa. read more

What an intimate and cute spot! I loved that there's only so many spots to sit providing a more intimate experience. The service was fast and attentive. I really enjoyed the sushi we had. One of them was a little more on the bland side, but all the others were incredible. The presentation was fantastic of each. I would go back! read more
