You can take the man out of the night club, but you can't take the night club out of the man. Welcome to his world. This place is a novelty, and an enjoyable one. The ornate plastic chairs, gaudy chandelier, and thumping dance music make the place seem like the fantasy of a guy (a celebrity chef whose face is all over the menus) who wouldn't dream of parting with the glamour of night life, so he carries it on into breakfast and lunch. The effect is whimsical and charming.
The food is technically perfect, as one would expect from a celebrity chef - so perfect that it's hard to remember after the last bite is finished. The coffee is exactly what you would think coffee would taste like before it's infused with any rich character from exotic soils and climate. The music is exactly what dance music sounds like before anything deep and soulful happens to the musicians. I was more than a little indignant when I heard a dance cover of Tracy Chapman's very raw and emotional song, "Fast Car"; I don't know if I'll ever be able to wash that sound out of my ears.
The place advertises itself as a "healthy food" coffee and tea shop, and I'll grant them that more or less. They do serve cakes and other carb-heavy dishes, but it's easy to find ketogenic options and perfect detox smoothies as well.
I don't know if this was intentional, but the color blue, which is heavy in the decor, serves as an appetite suppressant which adds to the healthfulness of the shop. Being surrounded by glamorous wallpaper of skinny celebrities drinking coffee also helps with the decision to set the fork down.
I highly recommend the Latte Macchiato met Kurkuma (turmeric). I guess that's a thing, and it's actually kind of amazing.
Update 3Nov17: The owner isn't a celebrity chef, but a musician and TV entertainer. Thank you, Fanny B.! read more
