This was one of my first brunches in the Netherlands. I had high expectations seeing how busy it was upon arrival. I was able to get a seat for myself in the quaint restaurant without waiting. I had an iced latte and the breakfast of champions. My plate was charcuterie style, with a mixture of things presented on a cutting board. I am not a big fan of bread in general so I should've asked to sub for something else. The portion was closer to the smaller side, but enough for me. Everything was fresh but quite bland. The bacon was too crispy for my liking and the bread wasn't toasted. I did enjoy my coffee and ended up coming back another day to grab one to go. I will give this place another shot when I am back in Rotterdam. read more

Great brunch spot in Rotterdam right near the Rotterdam Blaak Metro Station. I had a fantastic meal on Easter Sunday in this quaint nondescript restaurant. As per the name, of course there are picnic tables both inside and on the outside patio (which was closed on this day). The service staff was very nice and friendly and they had an English menu, which is always a plus! On to the food.. It was really good. I had a Croquette Monsieur which is a PERFECTLY toasted bacon and cheese sandwich. I can't tell you what type of cheese they used, but I can tell you that it was MAGNIFICENT! The bacon is not served as it is in the States, as to say it's not fried to a crunch.. They retain some fat in the frying, and I have to say this was the best bacon I've had while in Europe. I also got a sausage roll which was homemade sausage in a pretzel roll.. It was pretty good, not as memorable as the sandwich tho. Both dishes were served with a homemade ketchup - a welcomed difference than the slabs of mayo served elsewhere throughout the Netherlands. Dessert was an Oreo brownie and it was super rich and chocolately!! Overall amazing experience and brunch on Easter Sunday 2015! read more

It's a cool industrial-style interior at a good location, and the coffee is tasty. If only the service matched, I would give this place a solid 4. But after having visited more than once and consistently being approached as a nuisance or something the cat dragged in, a 2 is the most generous I can be. It's a shame - a mediocre place can be such a treasure because of great service, and a place that could be great can be made into an unpleasant experience all because of the level of service. read more

Firstly thanks Yelp for never failing to deliver great suggestions and secondly what an awesome place to start our little Rotterdam getaway! Thoroughly enjoyed Picknicks' vibe with its cool laid back decor inside and outside patio. We shared the sausage roll with homemade ketchup ummm YUMMMM! and then also had the pulled pork which was delicious and lighter than the American version as well as the burrata with pumpkin and sourdough bread. Sooo tasty! Must have again. Definite worthy of another visit next time we're back in the city! read more

Oh man. That was delicious. Walked here from the train station for some caffeine and a bite to eat before exploring the city a bit more. The latte and iced coffee my friend and I ordered were great, but the food is what makes this place worth going to. The kitchen is part-bakery, so something with bread was unavoidable. I ordered the roasted chicken sandwich with a bacon-onion crumble, avocado, and curry mayo. It came on toasted fresh glorious soft/crunchy bread. You could say it was slightly heavy-handed on the mayo, but that's just me looking for a flaw in an otherwise perfect sandwich. My friend ordered the sausage roll which is an adult 'pig in a blanket' and a scone hot out of the oven, both served with a brush of apropos condiments. They disappeared as quick as my sandwich. Everything else on the menu looks great, too. Wish I was going to be here for another meal. Jealous of those apartments across the street for having access to this place. read more

New menu, they scrapped my favourite so I had high expectations (to make up for it). Since then I've had the pulled pork, meatloaf (lamb) and salmon platters. As usual it is brilliantly made with attention to detail and taste. I love the layers of flavour, colour and attention to detail. As usual service is friendly and dedicated! This is my favorite breakfast place in Rotterdam. I have been living as an expat for quite some years now and have became a regular tin this place. What I really enjoy is that it feels like you are in the kitchen of a farmhouse. Staff is very friendly and accommodative to your requests and they seem to always manage to serve you in a timely manner despite the fact that they are place is usually super busy. I would recommend the full platter for two even if you are having breakfast on your own! read more

I absolutely love this place! It's a spot that you can come to to eat with friends, relax alone, or work. The atmosphere is nice because there is cozy indoor space and also a nice outdoor area in back with picnic benches. The coffee is delicious, and is roasted by the local roaster Aloha. The food beautifully prepared and so far everything I have tasted is amazing. On top of it all, the prices are totally reasonable and affordable considering the quality of the food that they are providing. The people who work here are also extremely friendly and accommodating! I will continue returning, and would recommend this place to anyone. read more

Visiting Rotterdam only for a few days and found this hidden gem on Yelp. Doesn't look like much from the outside but inside is warm and welcoming and the food was amazing. Had a breakfast platter and a Moroccan pancake. If you're in Rotterdam I highly recommend trying this little place out. read more

12,50 for a plate with some cheese and bread. Disappointed. If you want real breakfast and/or lunch this is not the place to go!
