Full disclosure, I haven't actually been to any other dance studios, but I don't need to in order to know that it doesn't get any better than Daync. The owners: Josh and Amber, I can't say enough wonderful things about these two! What they have created here in Milwaukee is so genuine and clearly comes out of their love for dance. They are both incredible dancers and teach the Salsa/Bachata classes. Their passion for sharing their love of dance is evident in the way they teach and the way they run their business. Since reopening after the covid-19 lockdown they have done an incredible job creating a safe atmosphere that still allows people to come in and have a great time learning to dance. They care a great deal about the people that come to Daync and that is clearly evident by the effort they put in to get to know everyone. I had only been attending classes for a few months before covid hit. Then when they were able to reopen an injury kept me sidelined for a while longer. On my first day back in 6 months: I was standing outside waiting to check in, Josh sees me from down the line and even though I was wearing a mask he recognized me, greeted me by name, and said he was glad to have me back after so long away. This is exactly the sort of caring, inclusive culture they have created at Daync. Everyone is welcome, and they make darn sure that you know that. Seriously, I can't say enough good things about these two. Class offerings: They have a multitude of class offerings featuring various styles and skill levels all throughout the week. Hip hop, Salsa, and Bachata are their main dance classes during the week and offer different levels and partner classes for the later two. They also offer a contemporary class, Capoeira, and most recently have started offering a heels class for the ladies (or anyone that wants to get in touch with their feminine side, I suppose). Josh and Amber teach the Salsa/Bachata classes and they have a small handful of incredible instructors that rotate through the hip hop classes. I have never left the studio without a huge smile on my face. You'd be hard pressed to find a more caring and inclusive dance studio that is just so dang much fun. Go. You'll be so glad you did.

Danceworks is a wonderful non-profit dance organization that does some pretty cool stuff for the…read morecommunity like their Mad Hot Ballroom (kids ballroom) and Mad Hot Tap programs. They are also a dance company and offers performances, as well as a school that offers a pretty fantastic range of classes for both kids and adults. I've taken adult ballet, jazz, contemporary, hip hop, tap, African and ballroom dance classes at Danceworks. They also offer some fitness based classes like Zumba and Barre Workout classes as well. This org hosts a great variety of classes and has so many performance opportunities for both professional and developing dancers. I would recommend a regular end of session survey for regular attendees to be able to review the class and instructor in order to help develop newer teachers and to understand what clients are expecting or looking for from the class. One area of improvement would be better follow up from staff. Sometimes it takes more than one or two attempts to hear back regarding an inquiry. Overall I am very happy with Danceworks, an important local institution here in Milwaukee for the arts, education, culture, youth development and adult enrichment. Also, there will be classes off blocking off the entire weight room during my only period of time to work out so I am unable to get the kettlebell weights needed for my exercises due to a class using a PUBLIC room. Lastly, the pickleball afternoon times are so limited and they will randomly have lessons without posting anywhere on the virtual schedule causing people to drive all the way there and they can't use the gym for the already limited pickleball times. I mean you guys have two apps (confusing!) you'd think you could figure out how to post the times online... The good: for what you get with the classes and really nice showers the price is relatively affordable.

I received dance lessons for my birthday this year. I decided to try something different…read more Anyway...my first appointment went well. We got basic moves for the Rumba, Fox Trot, Waltz. And In/Out. Cha-cha and Tango coming up next session. Very beautiful and comfortable inside the studio. Our instructor was very patient and attentive. My husband and I enrolled in dance lessons several months prior to our wedding only to be severely…read moredisappointed. I will start off by saying that these lessons are NOT cheap. All in, we spent $2,000 on lessons to learn fundamentals and a choreographed dance to our wedding song. There were so many things that went wrong during this process that I wish I was joking. There is a fee to pay for a dance to be choreographed on top of the private lesson costs which are about $99 per lesson when you "contract" several lessons. They will not let you pay for a choreographed routine for only a few lessons. The lessons are very redundant once you learn the routine and it's almost a waste of time and money. There were many instances of misinformation during this process and the studio owner offered to waive the choreography fee - great. But we still had more issues. The dance studio has absolutely horrendous communication with customers. In our 3-4 month stint of taking classes we went through 3 instructors because of turnover. All of a sudden one day our teacher wasn't there anymore and with no explanation we were placed with a new instructor to learn our custom choreographed dance that we were already learning with the prior instructor. Then, fast forward to October, the week of our wedding, when we were about to have our final lesson, we get a call about an hour before our lesson asking for us to have our lesson with an entirely new instructor. We found out our instructor was AGAIN replaced without any warning, so we wpuld have been on our fourth instructor. We realized something was up when we were placed with a random instructor the week before our final lesson but didn't think too much of it...it all makes sense now. We cancelled our final lesson and got a refund for the last class we didn't take. We had to jump through hoops to get our $99 back from the cancelled class...including hounding us on our honeymoon about submitting a written form to get our money back. They did not make this an easy profess. It's truly a shame when you spend thousands with a business that they consistently drop the ball with communication. I would not recommend spending your hard earned money here simply for these terrible experiences we endured. There is no excuse in our modern age for terrible communication.

The best decision I made was to sign up for Shape Up Shoppe!…read more Julie, the owner, is so welcoming and puts a ton of effort into making this place a success. She choreographs dances to all the songs, focusing on how every move will shape up your body. Working out here has been an absolute blast and one of the best/challenging workouts I've ever had. I am pushed to my limits everytime I work out. All the instructors are great, upbeat and motivating. They are always there to answer any questions and to make sure you have proper form so you don't hurt yourself. There are women at all fitness levels, sizes, and ages. Everyone is fun and encouraging. There are different classes as well, such as boxing. I have not done it yet, but I hear Dennis does an amazing job coaching! From the outside, you may not think there's a lot going on, but it's a large space. There is a gym on the first floor and a huge space for boxing, dancing, boot camp, etc on the second floor. There is a locker room, showers, and a sauna as well! Julie always has candles lit, so it smells so good! I have been a member for a few months now and just LOVE it! Now, all I need to do is get my eating under control and I'll actually notice a huge difference.
