Love this place! They hosted us for a class through Yelp and now I've been a regular…read more Being able to work out in 35-45 min and build strength and endurance in that period of time is my favorite. The people in class are all friendly and support each other through the entire class. These are certainly HIIT classes and you will get your heart rate up. The owners have been flexible with the memberships, I travel too much to purchase an unlimited so I buy packages but four a month wasn't enough for me, so now I have 8. It's easy to book my classes through the Basecamp app, you can book up to a week in advance. The coaches have been great, they will correct posture as needed and encourage you to work harder. Class times typically stay the same from week to week unless it's a holiday. Basecamp is a chain so they run specials throughout the year to encourage you to hit your targets. If you're looking for a quick, effective workout that encourages community, this is the place for you.

I was kind of nervous about going to a HIIT class because I haven't done a HIIT workout in forever,…read morebut I'm glad I went! For starters, I went to the 5 am class since it was the only time that worked with my schedule. I was sorta groggy because well.. it's 5am lol, but when I got there..Everyone ( and I do mean everyone) was so happy lol. It really helped improve my mood. I went on a Wednesday which was a full body day. It definitely was difficult, but I was proud of myself that I was able to keep up! You're broken into groups and you rotate between doing a floor exercise with weights or being on the stationary bike. Each rotation is 1 min long. Don't be fooled, that 1min seems to last forever when you're on the bike! The last 30secs on the bike, we were challenged to go faster and hit a certain speed so I pushed to hit the speed every time. The instructor (who's name I don't remember) was super nice and gave lots of positive affirmations for me being able to keep up with everyone given it was my 1st class. It made me feel like I just got a gold star in school lol If it wasn't 30+ min from my house, I'd be down for attending more classes.

It may be titled The Underground Lab, but the results of joining the gym definitely can't stay…read morehidden for long! Corny, but true! - I've been coming here for a few months and I love it. Fair pricing, excellent variety of quality machines, weights, racks, fitness modules, personal trainers and group sessions, etc.. plus they do boxing here which I'm apart of as well. Highly recommend this gym and all it has to offer! Easy 5 star review!

The best kept secret in Lawrence!…read more The Underground Lab offers trainer led bootcamp/crossfit style fitness modules & personal training for individuals, groups & small groups. Even though they're hardcore and the fitness modules and personal training push you to your max they offer something for every level of fitness. In fact they offer their modules in levels 1-5 and of course personal training is customized to your individual needs and fitness level. All of that being said, this is no cookie cutter cardio zoo and you'll be disappointed if that's what you're looking for. When you show up at The Lab, you should expect to sweat and be sore in places you didn't even know existed on your body. Trust me... I know! I've been going to The Underground Lab for the past 6 months and I cannot express in words what this gym, scratch that, this amazing unbelievable wicked awesome power house of fitness knowledge has done to improve my fitness and life in general. The trainers and owner are always available, willing and happy to answer any questions you may have and even show you how to do things better. Most gyms just offer equipment and space. The Lab offers so much more and they truly care about their patrons. With their fitness module packages, at no extra cost to you, they track your measurements and have monthly fit tests to track your progress towards a healthier lifestyle. If you're looking for a place to transform your body and life, this is the place. You should look no further. I would recommend calling and setting an appointment with one of the staff so they can show you the gym, tell you what they offer and suggest what they think would be best for you. I can't wait to see you at one of the modules.

"Against the norm" for this gym is correct - turning away business is definitely against the norm…read more I moved to OP 12 months ago and was seeking a place to workout. I kept calling for an appointment to visit this gym and was always referred to Jen; but every time I tried to call to schedule an appointment she was always busy - she never even offered open times to me. So I decided to stop in one day after work to see the place in person -- I stood at the front desk (mind you, NO employees were training or cleaning or doing anything but leisurely talking amongst themselves about 20 feet away from me). I was never even greeted, let alone acknowledged. Since they kept me waiting, I tried to look at my phone because I felt uncomfortable and they don't even offer WiFi so I had to use my cell phone data. What business doesnt offer WiFi these day? Either way, Jen was unprofessional in reaching back out to me - maybe the rest of their employees are not like that though. I've never seen a gym turn away business except for SANDPIT. Looked like they could use some more members too. End result = I won't be joining here and wouldn't advocate for sandpit to any of my friends, co-workers, and neighbors.

Once I talked to Ben and got a tour of the place and heard what they were all about I knew it was exactly what I was looking for. I've been a member for a little over a year now and since then I have participated in all of their classes that you can't find anywhere else, I did personal training with Tristan Miller and did my first WBFF Fitness Show, and have met some of the most amazing people that I now call my friends! If you are looking for something different, unique and people that will push you out of your comfort zone and help you reach your goals then I highly recommend checking out Sandpit Fitness. You won't regret it!

Just easy going folks in for the same reason you are with coaches that are here to motivate you. Don't let the 30 minute time slots fool you. The workouts are effective and you will be feeling it later on in the day. My previous gym membership was 5 years long, but I mainly attended larger group classes. So, while I was familiar with the movements programmed here, there were times I needed to ask for clarification. The coaches are also there to make sure you're doing things with correct form, so no sweat if you get an interruption on your set. It's done with your safety in mind. I signed up for the 21 day trial thinking I could go everyday, and was mistaken. Regardless, I did my best to hit 4-5 days/week and knew part way through the trial I'd be signing up for a membership. On that point, I appreciate the level of memberships available. You can do whatever works for your budget, and if you want to knock out and commit to 6 months or a year upfront, that's an option, too. Not to mention, it ends up being slightly less/month that way. They've got the most diverse set of members, too. I find it inspiring to be working out along side people 10-20+ years older than me as it shows commitment to health and wellness of the community. Literally, all are welcome here. So don't be afraid to come take an intro class or do the 21 day trial.

The atmosphere was great with lots of cute neon signs, wife opened garage doors, fans, and loud music. The workout was quick and effective!
