I love this place! I have been working out here since March 2013, and I have improved, gotten stronger, have MUSCLES, and feel GREAT! I am about as strong as I was 40 years ago when I lifted weights and was a runner. Never thought that would happen again! I can see a huge difference in my arms and core, and it's only because I work out at the Underground Lab. I use the Small Group training and I still get individual attention (maybe because I complain so much, lol). I have all the "how to" books, and even the various weights of dumbbells at home. Those books and weights have NEVER been used. Those books and weights didn't make me have fun working out ~~ going to the Underground Lab does. If you divide the price of the Small Group by the number of times a week (3 x week = 12x a month), the sessions are really inexpensive, especially considering the specific attention you receive. I used to belong to a "ladies" gym and I spent $200 more a month there for training than I do here, and it wasn't nearly as much fun or productive. Another great aspect of this place is the staff. Erin, the first person you see there, always has a welcoming smile for everyone (I thought it was just me, but then I saw her cheerfully greeting other people too, lol). She knows our names and cares about us and whether or not we show up. My personal trainer is Michael. He is wonderful. He works around my physical limitations and has still managed to increase my muscle mass and stamina. I love it! That what I mean; this place works WITH YOU~~ you are not "one of many" and the trainers pay attention to YOUR skill level. They are there to help you, not to break you down and chide you into doing more than your body can reasonably do. Come join us. It's so worth the effort, and you'll meet new friends too! read more

Let me preface this by saying I am not one to usually write reviews. In fact, I don't know that I've ever written an online review for anything or anywhere. I do consult reviews, however, before making purchases/commitments. And if you are reading this review, maybe you are considering UGL yourself. Please call them, email them, drop in and see them. Do whatever you need to do, but just take that first leap of faith. You won't regret it. Ever. It's hard to describe UGL. UGL is not a typical "gym". You don't go to UGL to watch ESPN while casually pedalling on a stationary bike or flip through People magazine on an elliptical. UGL workouts (personal training, small group training, or group training) are intense. It doesn't matter if you are old or young, a beginner or a seasoned athlete. You will be pushed. You will be challenged. And you will do things you never thought possible. Every workout feels like a marathon. There will be times you won't know if you will make it to the end. But you will. And when it's all over, you feel like you're on top of the world. The trainers at UGL are phenomenal. All of them. Your friends there--and trust me, they will befriend you whether you like it or not--will be there to support you and encourage you along the way. There's nothing like this place. Honestly I wish I could give The Underground Lab more than 5 stars because it totally deserves it! I have been training there since the doors opened years ago and it has only gotten better and better! I love how they are extremely active In the community as well, from HUGE community workouts, to fundraisers and Toys for Tots, Halloween and Christmas workouts open to the community all for FREE! They are always "giving back" to the community!The level of knowledge and training expertise among the trainers there is incredible! From nutrition, body composition, mobility to lifting techniques, endurance and functional training....You won't find more knowledgeable training staff around anywhere, I guarantee it! Also, its like a huge family. It's a very positive and upbeat environment. There is always someone there cheering you on and helping you be the BEST version of YOU you can possibly be! This place is honestly the best. I started coming here at the beginning of my last year of school, and my only regret is not joining much earlier. When I joined, I couldn't even manage a push-up--but by April, I was willingly participating in the Warrior Dash, and I was actually able to see how much I had improved in my nine months coming to UGL. I wish I could pick this place up and take it with me wherever I move, because the people here are so encouraging and supportive. I did fitness modules three days a week, which are their large group classes, and small group fitness two days a week--basically semi-private training with a few other members, working with one of the trainers. They have plenty of other packages, too, to fit your schedule and your needs. All of the trainers are truly wonderful. You really won't regret joining this place. read more

I started coming here last month after I had, once again, fallen out of a regular gym routine. I have tried a variety of gyms, exercise programs, etc. and this is the first time I really do look forward to working out (a few times I have had to work late and miss a module...and have been sincerely bummed). Don't get me wrong, the workouts are tough! However they are also really rewarding and never boring. The exercises are creative and I have never done the same routine twice.The atmosphere is really positive and most of the trainers call me by name. I always leave here in a better mood than when I can came and feeling like I got a great workout! Definitely recommend! read more

The Underground Lab is by far my favorite gym. The trainers and members are all very encouraging and welcoming. The workouts are always different and fun, I never get bored with the workouts! It's such a positive and encouraging environment, I NEVER leave thinking that I had a bad workout. The staff/trainers are all really nice and caring, if you ever need help with something or questions they are always willing to go above and beyond to help you out. I have never felt so comfortable at a gym in my life! My fitness level is not great, but I don't feel judged by the trainers or the members. Everyone treats me with respect and is very encouraging. I LOVE the trainers! I am not afraid to ask questions and they show me how to modify things so that I can get the best workout for me. I have rheumatoid arthritis and my pain has been better, my flare-ups have been fewer, and I just feel better in general. I love the fitness mods and all the variance in the workouts. read more

I've never been more excited to go to a gym! The UGL has great programs, trainers, and members. Everyday that you go it's something different and you're constantly pushing yourself. I feel so much better doing my day-to-day activities because of my decreased stress and increased fitness. If you want unique and rewarding experiences/exercises the UGL is the place to go. My husband and I started coming to UGL 2 months ago and it has been the best choice we have ever made (well besides having our beautiful babies) both of us are severely overweight and were couch potatoes. Melissa and Michael are great trainers- they both ran well-structured, interesting and HARD classes. I left sweaty and sore, but that's the point. I was visiting from out of town, and prior to my trip, I inquired about training at UGL, and my emails were responded to very quickly, and they didn't charge me for the week I trained there. Everything about the space and trainers is great. Highly recommend! read more
