I called ASI one day out of curiosity. I had been group training consistently elsewhere for a…read morecouple of years and was looking for a more tailored approach. Chris Dellasega (owner) answered the call and I immediately recognized a level of professionalism, focus and knowledge unparalleled in my experiences so far. Chris was able to assess and build a program to strengthen my weak points and propel all of my PR's to new heights. Every time I reach out with questions he has prompt, concise and effective answers. His programming has eliminated chronic pains I've dealt with for almost 15years. Particularly hip and low back pain using split squats. His prescription of external rotation exercises fixed a shoulder I've been struggling with for over 8 years. I've now been training and learning from Chris for almost a year and I'm feeling stronger and healthier at 32 than any other point in my life. If you're looking for a $10 membership at a corporate gym (with $10 results) to check a box on the list, you'll want to go elsewhere. If you're looking for a tailored effective plan to get healthy, strong or hit new goals in any sport, look no further.

I left Genesis due to the cold, impersonal, money-grabbing nature of the gym. When Genesis took…read moreover from LAC, I was appalled at how they treated the LAC workers and eventually was able to seemingly push most of them out by offering less than inadequate contracts. Unfortunately, the best trainers in town left the gym, and Genesis now employs far inferior, corporate-controlled trainers and cold, impersonal front desk personnel. They all look good in their preppy Genesis polo shirts, so I guess that's what counts. Unfortunate! So I decided to take a look at Athletic Strength Institute. I would encourage everyone who belongs to Genesis to drop your membership and come check out ASI. The owner makes you feel welcome. He is knowledgeable, motivating, and plans individual workouts to fit each of his client's needs. It may not be the biggest gym in town in terms of square footage, but it is the best in terms of what really counts... results.

This is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu academy focused on training and fitness…read more Having a little bit of experience and a long time off due to health reasons, I was looking for something to get back in shape and to help get a friend started. I dropped into Caio Terra, for the fundamentals class. Charles Hiersche was teaching the class. I was treated very well and welcomed into the class. The instruction was informed and explained for all levels, and the guidance superb. The fundamentals class was attended by all levels of belts, which was refreshing. The class ended in a series of 3 minute rounds (semi competitive rolls), that took my body from feeling good about coming back to feeling like I needed this more than I knew I needed it! I was a little disappointed that they don't sell branded gis (the BJJ kimono with a Caio Terra brand sewn on). In fact the don't sell anything except classes and TShirts. Well, no problem. Charles explained that he focused on the TRAINING, which is fine by me! Amazon sells gis, and Charles also teaches No Gi classes (shirt and shorts without the gi). This fundamentals class did not start with warmups in basic movements (unless that happens at another time). Shrimping, forward/backward rolls, bridge, etc are typically the first 10 minutes or so of any class. However, diving right into the material, and leaving time for more rolls at the end was better for me personally. I feel confident that a beginner would be walked through the basics, and have no problem catching up. In summary, I believe that this small school was really worth my time investigating it, and I would recommend it to anyone.
