The classes were good but the owner had a mean sense of humor. They have since gone out of business.

I highly recommend Zen Zone for your yoga certification (and much more!). When I describe the caliber and depth of the The Zen Zone certification, those who have their certification and/or operate a yoga studio has said it's the most robust program they've heard of. Ruthann and Tricia are incredibly knowledgeable and intentional in their teaching. They also facilitate an environment that creates a beautiful community and mini family (Kula). I signed up for the certification to learn more about yoga, I came out of class more awakened to my true self, changed at my core PLUS I was given tools and knowledge galore! This studio is great for those who have done no yoga or who have doing it for years. Great teachers and and a great community that really helps you get it and make you feel welcome! They also have teacher training 2 times a year. My wife went thru the training several years ago, and the difference yoga has made in our life has been amazing. I signed up and paid for a class at 7:30 February 11, 2022. Then when I came to class at 7:18, I discovered the class time had been changed and class had already begun. I was not allowed to enter. The woman was cold and smug. I should have read some more reviews before letting them take my money. They got my money; I got the shaft. It was called restorative yoga. Interestingly, the site says no refunds! Wonder why? I am also very sensitive to cruelty. I should have called the police as this is robbery, not highway robbery, but zen robbery. read more

The pregnancy yoga class was so relaxing and rewarding! I could do that every night before going to bed :)

I thought I'd give an update to my review of the Zen Zone, you know, one that's a smidge less zealous. The Zen Zone is the type of place that genuinely makes you feel like home from the time you step in the door. I've been to several other studios, and sometimes you get the vibe that you're not a part of the "cool club". I've not once got this vibe since I started coming here! They offer many different types of classes, from hot yoga, to vinyasa, to hatha, and even more meditative offerings. Each class has its own sort of feel and group of "followers", which helps you buy in to what the Zen Zone is selling. From a financial standpoint, they are definitely one of the more reasonable studios in the area, with their unlimited plan being one of the most reasonable I've ever seen. The only complaint I have about the Zen Zone is that occasionally they have a rogue surprise substitute instructor, which is never quite like having the original teacher that I tend to get used to. Other than this mild complaint, I have a hard time finding any beef with this business, and hope that more local Lee's Summit businesses follow some of their tactics! I went to one session at the Zen Zone after speaking to the owner and was very impressed! The place is clean and the staff welcomes you as soon as you walk in the door. I was given a complementary towel and the instructor immediately came up to me and gave me a "warm" welcome! ( This was a hot zin yoga session). I did like that the class challenged me, had good energy and the instructor was easy to follow/hear. The only complaint I have is that I like the more vigorous Yoga classes and I am looking forward to participating in more to see if they have my style of exercise as well as stretching. read more

I have been going to the Zen Zone for over 20 years. Ruthann is the BEST instructor one could ever have. She gives so much personal attention to her clients. She is constantly training and learning to give her clients top notch practice. She has a great staff for a wide variety of classes from Yin to Ashtanga, Pilates , Restorative and Sculpt. read more

This place is INCREDIBLE. I have taken two classes with the zen zone. One on a Monday afternoon that was a flow style yoga. I enjoyed it very much. However, I did feel uncomfortable knowing I was the youngest yogi in the room at 22. My second class was on a Saturday morning. It was packed. I found myself empowered surrounded by so my yogis. That day there was less of an age gap as well. Ways the studio could improve, mirrors to see your posture and self align. read more

I took prenatal yoga taught by Lauren. It was the best decision of my entire pregnancy. All of the women there were supportive, knowledgeable, and fun! I HIGHLY recommend this class to all pregnant women. Lauren was very educational about pregnancy, labor, and birth. The class was so helpful and helped reduce a lot of stress. Thank goodness there are so many other FANTASTIC options not only in Lee's Summit but in surrounding areas as well. Go to the Zen Zone if you know someone and are on good terms with them, that is the ONLY way you will be treated well...if not watch out, the ladies that run this business have made a successful art form out of playing favs and it is no secret. Ruthann Z is particularly bad, a shameless, two faced, vaguely educated, self promoter, who has very little concern for the physical well being of herself or her students. While I admire the conviction she has in her faith, I found the way she worked it into her classes very uncomfortable. Not everyone shares the same faith, and to be made to feel uncomfortable in light of that fact is very wrong......ESPECIALLY is a yoga studio. I will say that upon the purchase of my groupon I was excited about the variety of classes they offered...but I would encourage the instructors to study the origin of their art (none are based in Christianity) This is not the best yoga studio in the area...I can say this with confidence because I have studied at most of them over the course of many years. You can tell a lot about a studios reviews when the only people writing are like minded friends of the owners and instructors. This is a nice place for these like minded people to gather and stretch, however if you are a serious yogi or a beginner with an open mind and serious intention PLEASE take your money and your time and look at the other studios around town.....I promise you will not be disappointed. After a couple experiences at the zone....I gave my remaining classes away and explored other options in Lee's Summit I now have two Favorites and could not be happier!! read more

I purchased a groupon after reading the positive reviews and was excited to get started. Very disappointed. I went to my first (and last) class and will forfeit the remainder of my groupon. The instructor was not nice. They made comments throughout the class such " most of you are doing it right" and "almost all of you look strong" and they were directed at me! I have been practicing yoga on and off for 10 years and I have been serious for the past 2 plus I compete in triathlons and I think I am fairly fit. I have never felt more unwelcome in the one place I feel most at home. So much so that I debated about packing up and leaving early. At the end of the class, the instructor even came up to me and said " this really isn't a beginners class". I couldn't believe it. Was every pose perfect...no but I also wasn't floppy around on my mat or hanging out in child's pose all hour. Even if I was, the practice is mine. read more

I really wanted to love this place as I've missed yoga since I moved to KC from Houston. But I just didn't. First off, unlike the most recent review, I didn't get a warm welcome. I was handed some papers on class reschedules and told where to put my shoes and then told to just wait until the other class is done. That was it. No one talked to me or greeted me. Next, the studio is right on 350 highway and you could hear it. Loudly. It's a little hard to relax and concentrate on my breath when I hear semi trucks and cars roaring past (this was during a Saturday 9:30 class, I can only image what some of the other times would be like). Finally while the description for the "Restorative Yoga" promised passive stretching and deep relaxation, I really wouldn't consider it all that yoga like. Having practiced several different kinds of yoga (Vinyasa, Hatha and even Yen) this was I guess too passive for my taste. Spending $15 to lay with my head on a pillow in child's pose so long my toes went numb just wasn't the deep relaxation I was hoping to achieve. The usual instructor wasn't in that day and maybe that would make a difference. But unfortunately this was probably my last visit to Zen Zone. read more
