Shades Creek runs along the side of the trail, so it is pretty. Along the way, there are plenty of entrances and parking lots, but because of the large, beautiful trees, the concrete and asphalt are hidden from the trail, and there is a lot of shade. My only wish is that, because of the distance of the trail, that they would put a few port a potties along the way.

From there you walk on the sidewalk till you get to where the trail goes off to the right and down the hill. The trail is wide and flat and paved. On this particular day, we saw walkers with and without dogs and joggers and someone with a stroller. Very shady through a lot but not all of it. Benches here and there to take a break. A few cool tunnels to walk through that the kiddos will love. Round trip from the parking area was 3 miles. Can't wait to come back. The dogs loved it!

I thought that it was interesting that the apartments below the trail had stairs leading up to the trail. Nice benefit to living in the area. I noticed a few of the residents heading up and down the trail with their dogs. Yes, this is a pet friendly trail with waste bins along the trail. The trail seems well maintained without being manicured. The overgrowth of brush is seen along the path without impeding the trail. The views over the city is great when walking, running or walking is nice. Great trail for bike riding, leisurely walks or increased cardio workouts. Bring your kids, pets and or family to capture some city views and get in a good workout. I will be back, definitely wearing a hat! The sun is bright up there!!

I saw several people walking along, a couple joggers and one person with a dog. Everyone was polite and respectful. I did have a gentleman stop and warn me about a man that was up the trail a bit that could potentially be troublesome or make me uneasy. I really appreciated him warning me and telling me to be safe. Aside from that, I had no concerns walking the trail alone. I took in all the beautiful city views and the random flowers along the way. I do wish it was kept up a bit better, however. There are downed trees that have been cut but not cleared, a trash can fallen over, etc It's a great place to get some movement in and take in the views!

It's not far from the heart of Hoover and made for a really enjoyable & relaxing Saturday morning. The paths need a little TLC. Many of the tree markers are fading & there were quite a few downed trees that have not yet been cleared. Yet still, I was able to navigate without much issue and thoroughly enjoyed the views! The trail terrain is rocky with lots of tree roots -- be sure to wear shoes with good grip & watch your step! Parking, is limited, in a small gravel lot. Arrive early to snag a spot!

They have two full tennis courts that are decent and a half basketball court that is off to the side of the tennis courts and shares the same fenced in area. There is ample parking here at the park, but I can see how during large events that parking could become scarce. They have two lots; one is located by the tennis courts and other is shared with the Jewish Chabad Center next door. The main section of the park is completely fenced in and has a small picnic shelter with tables under it, a decent paved 2/10 of a mile walking trail, a restroom facility, benches, and a couple of picnic tables. There is a bunch of shade in this area and green space in the center where you could hold a picnic, play catch or relax on. You will also see a borrow a book box and a story trail in the are as well The are also has a playground area that is on a bed of wood chips and has traditional swings, toddler swings, tire swings, a medium sized jungle gym with a slide, A fire truck themed jungle gym with a couple of slides, a merry-go-round, and a jungle gym with monkey bars and rock climbing. The equipment is in decent shape and looked like kids would have a lot of fun here. Because the area is fenced in, it is popular for those with dogs. Even though they have many signs posted to tell you to keep your dogs on a leash, I saw a few people that did not while I was there. This is a very nice park that has a lot to offer. I love the shade that it has. Even though it is located off of a busy road, I still found it peaceful. This place is a diamond in the rough and you should really consider coming here if you are looking for a park to visit.

While at this park with the kids, I found a perfect spot to roller skate. It's a win win situation for me. The kids get their specialized track training and I get in a good roller skating session. While I was at the park, I noticed people using the baseball field and batting cage to practice. This park has a nice walking trail and a playground. Whenever we have gone, there haven't been too many people there so that's nice. Of course, I'll be back!

The parking lot attendees were helpful in directing me on where to park and how to get into the stadium. I had been to this park 4 years ago for a walk but never to an event of this nature. When I came at that time, the park grounds were nice and the walking trail was well designed. The stadium seem really clean and the grounds were well kept. The sound system was nice and clear. All of the bands were great!
