One of the most relaxing and beautiful paths to walk in Birmingham. Has always been one of my favorites. Follows the creek, with plenty of side paths to investigate for variety. Just a wonderful place.

Spent 1.5 hrs here on a Labor Day. The shaded trail, divided into two segments (1 mile and 0.6 miles, respectively), is mostly flat and easy to navigate. Wish there were more parking spaces and more room on the trail to avoid bumping into others so often.

If you are looking for a shady place to walk or run, check out Jemison Park. There are always other people there but it never is too crowded. I love nature and this place has a wide selection of beautiful trees. There are beech nuts, american holly, horse chestnuts and many others. There is also a creek that runs through the park and several benches where you can sit and enjoy the scenery. The time I went, the water was so clear that I could see fish from the trails. The only downside is that there is only street parking, but maybe that keeps it from being too crowded.

I absolutely love this park. No only is shaded but if you have a dog they love it. I have always felt safe when I have been. The paths are well laid out and there are benches to rest if needed. The park is well kept and you will rarely find any kind of trash along the path. If you are a runner it is a great place to take advantage of the shade during the summer months. On Sunday the park is well traveled as folks bring their dogs for a leisurely stroll.

I don't run often, but when I do, it's at Jemison Park! This is a beautiful place in Mountain Brook to get out and enjoy nature. There are a couple of trails that last for a couple of miles (not sure the exact distance - like I said, I am not an avid runner). The trail is well-shaded, which is great for summer since Birmingham gets sweltering. The trail crosses a creek a couple of times. Some of it is paved, and some of it is gravel. If you wanted to extend your run, the Lakeshore Trail is not far away in the direction of Brookwood Mall. Flowers, water, shade, and fresh air. Jemison Park ticks all the boxes. :)

This is a very nice walking trail. Birmingham is very hot in the summer and this trail is almost complete shaded. It is also very well kept up. There is a creek that runs pretty much the entire length of it. We often take our dog and let her get in the creek to cool down and play. This is in a very nice part of town as well.

This park is a hidden gem inside the City if Mountain Brook. Going through the park you've got a hidden trail ideal for walkers and runners. Living only minutes from this gorgeous and peaceful location I often visit this location. The weekends oddly enough has the least amount of visitors. If I had to guess, weekdays between 5:30-7pm typically has the most people walking through this park. If you're an outdoors aficionado, then this park is a must stop when you're in town. Happy visiting!

They have two full tennis courts that are decent and a half basketball court that is off to the side of the tennis courts and shares the same fenced in area. There is ample parking here at the park, but I can see how during large events that parking could become scarce. They have two lots; one is located by the tennis courts and other is shared with the Jewish Chabad Center next door. The main section of the park is completely fenced in and has a small picnic shelter with tables under it, a decent paved 2/10 of a mile walking trail, a restroom facility, benches, and a couple of picnic tables. There is a bunch of shade in this area and green space in the center where you could hold a picnic, play catch or relax on. You will also see a borrow a book box and a story trail in the are as well The are also has a playground area that is on a bed of wood chips and has traditional swings, toddler swings, tire swings, a medium sized jungle gym with a slide, A fire truck themed jungle gym with a couple of slides, a merry-go-round, and a jungle gym with monkey bars and rock climbing. The equipment is in decent shape and looked like kids would have a lot of fun here. Because the area is fenced in, it is popular for those with dogs. Even though they have many signs posted to tell you to keep your dogs on a leash, I saw a few people that did not while I was there. This is a very nice park that has a lot to offer. I love the shade that it has. Even though it is located off of a busy road, I still found it peaceful. My wife determined that the local botanical garden opened by 7 a.m. (!) and was also free, so we opted to stop here before the museum opened later at 10 a.m. We made it here by around 7:30 a.m. A word of caution - the highway interchange nearby was nightmarish. We missed 2 turns (even with a navigation app running). I don't think it was just me. So be careful and add a few extra minutes to get lost. Once finally off they highway and through the final roundabout, we proceeded along a road bordering the gardens. On the other side appeared to be an expensive hotel and an upscale shopping / dining plaza. The garden was having some sort of plant sale, and crowds were apparently expected. They had traffic control cones in place, but we arrived early enough so that parking was still plentiful. When we left, it seemed like the lot had mostly filled up. The gardens are quite large. They are divided up into sub-areas and there is a large map posted about 100 yards inside the main gate. No paper maps were on offer, so I guess you can take a photo of theirs and use that. We first strolled to the Japanese Garden. We had this to ourselves until almost when we left. This area is quite large by itself. They have koi ponds, a tea house, etc. It was nice. We took an alternate path back to the map pavilion. From there, we explored other areas (mostly dedicated to specific flowers). Some of the terrain is hilly. We routed through the vegetable garden and eventually ended up back at the central formal rose garden. This was being watered periodically that morning and some of the brick paths in it were flooded. They seemed to have some satellite restrooms in remote areas, in addition to the main set near the gate. We spent almost 2 hours here and probably could have spent even more time, but we wanted to drive to our prime stop. If you have any interest in botanical gardens, this is a very worthwhile stop.

You can easily spend hours exploring the many trails that wind through beautiful flowers and plants, the serene Japanese Gardens, and even an active beehive community--which was my favorite part! We were on a bit of a time limit and didn't get to walk the entire property, but we still managed to spend about two hours covering roughly three miles, and it never felt rushed. While it's still a little early in spring for everything to be in full bloom, there were still plenty of gorgeous floral displays to enjoy. Some of the trail directions can be a bit confusing at times, and we did end up wandering off course once or twice. That said, it was never difficult to find our way back to the main trail and continue exploring. If you're looking for a place to meander, slow down, and truly enjoy nature, this is absolutely the place to do it. A peaceful and rewarding experience overall.

It is hidden-- the entrance is on Kingsbury Ave. I've posted a picture so you'll know where to find it and what it looks like. There's also only street parking available. It was a Tuesday afternoon in May that we went, and it was so peaceful. The park is completely surrounded by houses (why it's so hard to find). There was only one other person there doing some running exercise. There's a playground, swings, track, picnic tables under some huge trees, and a good amount of open area. It was a hot day so we ate lunch under the trees, which kept us very cool. Then we played on the swings and playground as an attempt to relive our childhood memories! No bathroom or water fountain (maybe I missed that) that I saw. All in all-- a nice peaceful park. Maybe when school is out it might be busier, but I enjoyed myself!

There were some people, but certainly not crowded. The trail was pretty smooth for the most part. Very few roots and other trip hazards. Really my only complaint is that its not long enough. And obviously some people ignore the dog waste bags provided for them at the beginning. But overall we loved finding this little gem and will definitely be going back!
